A Near Riot in the Forum
From FiranMUX
Anarinuell: Civic-Center Square -- The Forum
Lokaranis whistles off-key horribly as he walks in slowly.
Isa nods, smiling a "Goodbye," and ducks out, strolling happily towards the north, towards her loved temple. {Firan}
Yento takes a few steps closer to him, "Well, sentry, I did not see the man myself, but heard about it from a friend of him at the barnicle, he told me that the man was about 6 ft tall and nearly 200 pounts. He spoke in a loud voice, but this day he didn't say much. Just walked in with a hand cart and walked back out." {Excellent Firan}
Isa has left.
Isa heads north.
Yento continues talking animatedly, "His skin was tan and his hair a redish brownish color cut long, I was told." He shrugs, "The statue was of the Ranivor holding a sword and looking rather stately as I remember." He look at Aldrikos watching him. {Firan}
You notice Yento enter.
Azara moves quietly towards the market, after Isa's departure, glancing sidelong at the others as the talk.
Lokaranis stops and looks at the man talking animatedly. "Prince Sadin! So good to see you again. You have not been in for your lessons recently. Why?" he asks as he heads towards him. {Excellent Firan}
Yento turns around seeing Lokaranis and smiles, winking at Aldrikos with his good eye. "I've been recovering choosen one, I got in a horrific fight with Anikos Aurik." He grins. {Firan}
Someone looked at you.
Nydiam comes in from the west.
Nydiam has arrived.
Aldrikos hmms, nodding once and squinting as he commits the important facts into his crime-database memory. "I see. (tan reddish mumble mumble mmhmm 6' mumble right) Do you have any forwarding information regarding to whom the statue was stolen from?" He's about to ask his witness a few more questions before looking blankly at Lokaranis, then at Yento to make sure, then at Lokaranis again. "What?" he manages blankly. {Firan}
Lokaranis frowns a bit. "Where is that boy! I'll show him what it means to pick on one of the Royal family! Where is he? I have half a mind to turn him right over my knee and give him what for!" {Excellent Firan}
You don't notice Nydiam.
Nydiam strolls casually through the marketplace, somewhat carefree.
Yento shakes his head, "It's alright, It's only a flesh wound." He grins turning back to Aldrikos, "It was a mer Krolos, I think, sentry." He says with as straight a face as he can manage after talking with Lokaranis. {Excellent Firan}
Lokaranis frowns. "But your eye is covered up." he looks at Nydiam, "Guard. I need to speak with you a moment. I want you to find someone for me." he looks back at Yento, "Your Highness, what did you say the squirt's name was?" {Firan}
Nydiam catches a glimpse of Aldrikos, Yento and Lokaranis. He blinks a moment at Lokaranis as he addresses him as 'guard,' "Excuse me, Mer?" {Excellent Firan}
Aldrikos nods a little dubiously, sort of still eyeing Lokaranis sidelong. "Aye. Uh," he begins heistant/helpfully in one of those semi-loud-and-slow voices to Lokaranis, "that's not really Prince Sadin, mer." {Excellent Firan}
Yento shakes his head, "It's not important, Choosen one." He shakes his head, "Anikos didn't mean to hurt me." {Excellent Firan}
Lokaranis looks at Aldrikos after his comment. He gives him just as blank of a look as normally is on Aldrikos' face. He blinks slowly. "Are you daft boy?" {Excellent Firan}
Sabinus comes in from the east.
Sabinus has arrived.
Sabinus is followed by Sabine.
Sabine has arrived.
Sabine says, "To the Forum, Lord Sabinus, if you would." {Firan}
Aldrikos shakes his head. "Nay, I am Sentry Aldrikos. Might I ask you to hold your conversation until I've finished the deposition?" he replies politely. {Firan}
You don't notice Nydiam.
Lokaranis stands with Yento and Aldrikos. He has a blank expression on his face as he waits for an answer from Aldrikos.
Yento shakes his head, "The poor boy has been hit one to many times I'm afraid. He was babbling to me just amment ago about a theft from the market." {Firan}
Sabine comes striding into the marketplace, her large cloak dwarfing her by comparison, and accompanied by little Lord Sabinus. She seems to be fond of the boy, and pats him on the head now and again while they chat.
Nydiam is standing looking at Lokaranis as if he were crazy. He shift his glance to notice the entrance of Sabine and Sabinus.
You notice Sabine enter.
Lokaranis frowns as he catches the part about the theft. "Thief! Where is that thief!" he exclaims. He looks at Aldrikos again. "What position is that?" and motions for Nydiam. "Guard! We need your assistance over here." {Excellent Firan}
Sabinus walks into the marketplace, his bow has been removed and he carrys it in his hand, he continues to chat with Sabine
Azara's browsing at the market, although she glances over as Sabine and Sabinus enter. She hesitates, takes a half-step in their direction.
Dianora comes in from the east.
Dianora has arrived.
Yento shakes his head, tugging slightly on the old man's sleeve. "Choosen one, the Theif is only a figment of this mans imagination." {Excellent Firan}
Sabine notices many unimportant people, and then, her nephew Aldrikos. She points him out to Sabinus. "Do you see that big man over there? That's my neice's son, Aldrikos. He's the son of Sir Gellhorn from the stories I've told you. Isn't he handsome? He's vigilantly protecting the city at the moment, as you can see. When you grow up, would you like to be a guard?" {Excellent Firan}
You notice Dianora enter.
Nydiam shakes his head and walks over to Lokaranis, "Mer, I am not a guard, but what can I do for you?" {Excellent Firan}
Yento indicates Aldrikos, in an off handed fashion.
Sabinus laughs lightly, "My Queen, I AM a guard, well, not officaly yet, but soon." {Firan}
Lokaranis ohs and quiets down a bit. He looks at Nydiam as he comes over. "Apparently this man thinks there is a thief about." he points to Aldrikos. "Prince Sadin here has said it is in this mans imagination. Could you please take him to the healers?" {Firan}
Sabinus chuckles, "You could have me made a bodyguard to you." he winks, "Hehe." {Firan}
Yento shakes his head, "It's a very sad case, my lord." He says solemly. {Firan}
Sabine smirks at Sabinus, amusement at the corner of her eyes, "Oh, of course. See, I'm always the last to know. Well I mustn't --" she hears her grandson's name spoken in conjunction with the word theif, and pales. She breaks away from Sabinus and parts the crowd as she strides toward the spot where she heard it. She finds Lokaranis. "Sadin? Are you hurt?" {Excellent Firan}
Sabine looks confused as Sadin is nowhere about.
Nydiam looks to Aldrikos, "Your highness, is this true!?!" He says with keen interest. He looks back to Lokaranis, "Do you have a description of the Drik loving scoundrel?" {Firan}
Aldrikos throws a critical look at Yento. Residual confusion is starting to give ground to some suspicion of criminal mischief about. Or at the very least, somebody is lying, and liars are bad. "How now! You reported the theft to me, mer. I should like to know what you think you are up to." He turns towards Lokaranis, like he's about to say somthing, then squints and shakes his head. Yento first, then he'll deal with the rest of the confusing parts as they come. {Firan}
Dianora stops at the edge of the market, having seen Nydiam but also having seen Yento, and a pained look appears on her face.
Sabinus catches up to Sabine, whispering something
Lokaranis turns at the sound of Sabine's voice. He turns. "My Queen!" he says exhasperatedly, a pompously flourished bow ensues. {Excellent Firan}
Yento titls his head, looking at all the people around him, shrugs his shoulder and shakes his head, clear. "Well I really think I must be going now, good day everyone." he starts walking away quickly. "" {Firan}
Azara takes a couple of more steps, then stops, several feet distant from the market's stalls, now. Utter confusion paints her features, and she stays back.
A herald passes by and shouts, "It's Firan time: 02:00:10 PM on Sun Feb 18, in the year 17 A.U., and The Clan Council could not decide, at their bi-annual meeting, on the initiative to allow the Ranivor to arbitrate the citizenship of children born to parents from different clans. They will take up the issue again in the spring."
Sabine's face screws up into a pained expression as she greets Lokaranis, "Hello old friend. What is this about my grandson?" She gets right to the point. {Firan}
Nydiam bows to Sabine as she approaches and addresses Lokaranis.
Yento starts walking to the north at a quick pace, he glances back over his shoulder.
Lokaranis stands up straight again. He goes to motion to Yentos and looks as he starts to say, "Prince..." he looks dumbfounded. "He was right here a minute ago!" {Excellent Firan}
Sabinus whispers once more to Sabine
Sabine looks behind her and sees only a one eyed man scurrying away. She shouts, "You there, halt!" {Firan}
Aldrikos turns back towards Yento just in time to see him disappear between two passersby. "Egads!" he thunders. That man is leaving the scene of a... something. At any rate, he still hasn't been properly questioned about the stolen statue. "Halt! Your prescence is still required here!" he continues, and strides off purposefully after him. {Excellent Firan}
Sabinus snatches his bow hearing the comotion from the Queen, and nocks the bow aiming toward Yentos
Nydiam chuckles to himself as finds all of this quite amusing, "And...the plot thickens..." {Firan}
Yento glance back over his shoulder again and then realizing he is in trouble, ducks into the crowd quickly. "Oh Gods." He mutters. {Firan}
Sabine's eyes fly open wide at young Sabinus. "Don't shoot him, dear. I just want to talk to him. Aldrikos has it well under hand." {Excellent Firan}
Sabinus looks to Sabine for hte notion to go after the man.
Sabine waves a hand for Sabinus to lower his bow and mutters something about Garen and Akinita letting a young child like that walk around with dangerous weapons. They were never responsible parents anyhow.
Sabinus catches a bit, and lowers his bow, walking into the crowd, but not disappearing.
Nydiam smirks and shakes his head. He looks to Lokaranis for a brief moment, and then he looks back to Sabine.
Lokaranis turns back to Sabine after watching the man flee. "How are you this wonderful day, My Queen?" {Firan}
Sabine grows more and more puzzled as she spies Nydiam. "Lord Nydiam, would you care to explain what's going on here?" {Firan}
Sabinus says lightly, "Mer, where are ye, the Queen wishes your presense." {Firan}
Sabinus puts on his short bow.
Aldrikos disappears in the crowds after Yento, issuing a number of loud variants on 'Halt!' and a couple softer ones on 'Excuse me!' as he goes.
Sabinus wears it and can'ty take it off agian.
ROLL: Sabinus rolls his Perception + Espionage at difficulty 8 and gets 2 successes.
Shoppers crowd the marketplace trying to find good deals.
Sabine frowns as she sees the one eyed man duck into the crowd. "What nerve he has. He must have bad hearing. Surely no one who hears the Queen yell for them to halt would deliberately disobey that order. Now look at the trouble he has caused, and there goes Aldrikos -- Oh! Watch out for the cart! -- *covers her eyes*" {Firan}
Nydiam's eyes brim with mirth. He moves toward Sabine, "Your majesty, I am afraid that I was mistaken, by the revered Lokaranis, as guard. There was mentioning of a thief...and a necklace and a statue. Hopefully, this is not related to the charges brought against Lord Yaffros."
Sabinus walks through the cword, and with snatching onto the back of the tunic, he grasps it, and lifts the man up, "The Queen wishes your presence, please come with me." {Excellent Firan}
Azara watches, slightly agape, shaking her head. She'll just stand there and look a bit stupid for the non.
Dianora simply.. stares, speechless.
Sabine folds her arms over her chest and shakes her head to Nydiam. "Well, this is what I get for meddling. All I wanted to do was appologize to that man and explain Lokaranis' condition." It should be clear, by now, that Sabine is neither startled nor surprised by Lokaranis' behavior, and she has been ignoring him, for the most part. "But look at him run. . . like a jack rabbit. Alas, and there is that name again. Yaffros. Yaffros. Yaffros. Isn't he one of yours?" she asks Nydiam shrewdly, as if she doesn't know. {Firan}
Sabinus eeps as the man has two whole eyes, "Sorry mer." he continues to dig through the crowd. {Excellent Firan}
Sabinus puts on his short bow.
Somewhere in the crowd there's a loud "Egad!" followed by a loud crash and a pair of startled chickens springing up into the air on a short arc, flapping furiously and trailing a lot of feathers as it flutters down. The crowd around grows quiet for a moment, and then there's an apologetic-sounding voice saying "Oops." over everything. "Uh, excuse me. Hey! Where did you go? Halt!"
Nydiam smacks his lips with distaste, "Yes, my queen. With much regret, he is one of my clansmen." {Firan}
Sabinus takes off his short bow.
Sabinus puts on his short bow.
The chickens come sailing down from the air, landing square on top of Yento's head. Tail-feathers in his face and wings beating about the head and shoulders as their talons dig into his skull as they try to get a grip.
Sabinus takes off his short bow.
The crowd gathers around Yento, an apparent felon, and cheer what they believe to be Aldrikos' brilliant strategy.
Yento keeps moving as quickly as possible through the crowd, glancing over his shoulder every coupld of seconds, he pulls the chicken off of his head and pulls himself back behind another cart looking around carefully.
Nydiam's eyes grow large at the excitment in the market, and a smile creeps across his face, forgetting that he is standing next to the queen or that she was even mentioning the name 'Yaffros.'
Sabinus looks over to Aldrikos, and aiming his bow, fires a shot toward a tree near Yento, a warning perhaps?
Sabine watches the entire thing through her fingers. "Oh by the gods, Garen's son is shooting arrows in the marketplace!" {Excellent Firan}
Dianora starts giggling and clamps her hand over her mouth, trying desperately to remain polite as her eyes follow the poor man's attempted escape.
The chicken squaks LOUDLY as it gets pulled off Yento's head. It starts pecking quickly at him, getting his hand and arm. The other chicken pecks at his head hearing the first one go off.
The crowd starts to scream and scatter as an arrow sails across the forum.
Nydiam leans over to Sabine.
Nydiam looks over at Sabinus with some concern.
Sabine shouts, "Guards! Someone stop Sabinus before he gets hurt. . . er, hurts someone! Snatch up that little boy!"
Sabine turns round and *glares* at Lokaranis. "Ooooh, you can be such a trouble maker!" {Firan}
Sabinus looks over, to Sabine, quizzacaly, and then himself, slips away in the crowd.
Lokaranis frowns a bit as he gets called a troublemaker. "What'd I do!?" {Excellent Firan}
Azara steps back a few paces until she's against a market stall. Maybe it's safer here. Maybe.
Nydiam looks to Sabine and turns back to find Lord Rissik, but does not see him anymore.
Yento shakes his head, trying to pull his foot away from the guards grasp.
Panic spreads quickly around the Forum, and some even believe that the Queen herself might be in danger, guards come running towards her while others seek out Sabinus. All in all, a chaotic scene getting worse by the moment as the words 'assasination attempt' are heard amidst the shouts.
Sabinus slips out of the crowd minutes later on the other side of the marketplace, and begins to nock his arrow once more.
Dianora decides to get out while the getting is good, figuring Lidanos will fill her in later.
Dianora has left.
Dianora heads east.
Lokaranis hears the words assasination attempt and he valiantly jumps in front of Sabine. "I'll save you My Queen!" {Excellent Firan}
GM: A squad of guards narrows in on Sabinus.
Nydiam blinks and decides the safest place to be is near the queen. He looks heavenwards and mutters something to the effect about cutting into his drinking time.
GM: One of them tackles Sabinus bodily! Oof!
Sabine oofs as the guards surround her and pull her to the ground, pushing Nydiam and Lokaranis away from her. "Oh for goodness sake!" she says. "I'm too old for this." {Firan}
Aldrikos meanders around in his big search for the escaped suspect (who really didn't escape, and really isn't suspected of anything), smiling vaguely at the cheering crowds. Then he notices some poor person being waylaid by rabid chickens and immediately puts finding Yento aside to save the man (who seems remarkably similar to Yento, although it's difficult to tell with the chickens flying around). "I'll save you!" he yells, rushing forward. {Excellent Firan}
ROLL: Sabinus rolls his Muscle at difficulty 8 and gets 1 success.
Yento turns toward Aldrikos. "You have the wrong man, sentry. The one you want is over there." {Firan}
Sabinus backs up slowly, his bow nocked, but not pulled, he continues to back up until he gets tackled, he squirms himself free though.
COMBAT: Aldrikos tries to get into a position to attack Yento, but fails.
The guards around Sabinus don't recognize him, nor does it matter. "Mer! Drop that weapon at once! You are now under arrest by the Palace Guard. Any attempt to flee or fight will be treated as a criminal action! Halt now and put the bow on the ground!"
Azara shakes her head, edging back around the stalls. She can't move fast enough to any of this, too. So much for quiet trips to the market.
Yento pulls away from Aldrikos in the mess fo chickens and sprints northward at full tilt, trying to put as much distance between himself, Aldrikos and those evil chickens as he can.
Three more guards, these archers themselves, find a place around Sabinus and point their weapons at him.
Sabine can't see anything going on with Sabinus as the guards are nearly piled on top of her for protection, but it doesn't matter anyhow as she is now very aggravated, "Oh, you dolt, you're stepping on my cloak!" she says, smacking the boot of the soldier nearest to her. {Firan}
Sabinus slowly backs up, and unocks his bow, slideing the arrow into it's quiver, looking at the guards insignia, "Sentry, you will adress me properly, and attacking me is not smart." he stands straight up. {Firan}
Nydiam stands next to Sabine and watches carefully, "Oh dear, this is not working out well, at all." {Excellent Firan}
Itanot comes in from the north.
Itanot has arrived.
Two guards rush Sabinus from behind, wrestling the weapon out of his hand. At that moment, two more step in and grab him. There's nothing else Sabinus can do now, unless he intends to kill a guard and end life as he knows it.
Aldrikos tries to swat the chickens away from the poor citizen, but them seem pretty determined to hang around. Finally, the chicken assaultee whacks one away from him himself, which sort of deflects it into his face and spins him around once. "Cease and desist, evil rioting poultry!" he commands at the top of his lungs, giving one chicken a boot and swiping the others away from him. That sorted out, he looks around. Hey, it's the poor person he saved. Wow, the chickend must have scared him a lot, he's running away so fast. Better make sure he needs medical attention. "Hey! Mer! Wait!" he says, running after Yento again. {Excellent Firan}
Guards have filled the Forum, and everyone everywhere is now spreading the 'news' that Lord Sabinus Rissik has tried to assasinate. . .someone. Could be someone else. People are still running and screaming and tension is thick in the air.
Itanot has left.
Itanot heads north.
Sabinus gets hit in the lower back, his head flying forward, and then being pounched back so he has a whiplass effect on him, "You dimwits!" {Excellent Firan}
Sabinus lays limp on the ground.
The guards manacle Sabinus and take all his stuff, leaving him to lie face-down on the cobblestone.
Azara's just a part of the throng that hides back somewhere safer. In a stall, in fact, where the merchant brandishes a weapon as if he's going to save the few women who are there.
Yento sprints offf to the north as quickly as he can.
Yento has left.
Yento heads north.
Sabinus coughs, "Oy, will your commander be getting a nasty little letter, attacking Lord Sabinus Rissik, a member of the Chimeran royal family, hmm that'll sound good on your record." {Firan}
Sabinus says, "Oh by the way, you just let the REAL criminal run off, dimwited." {Firan}
Sabine yanks on Nydiam's tunic in annoyance, "Help me up, won't you?" Hmph! She smacks the boot of the soldier again until he finally takes his foot off of her cloak. {Excellent Firan}
Nydiam looks down at Sabine, "Of course, my queen." and leans down to help her. {Firan}
Sabinus looks to see the other big round of guards, and calls out, thinking Sabine's in there, "My Queen, come get me out of this will ye?" {Excellent Firan}
Sabinus coughs ligthly as one of the guards tie his arms, "Take it easy will ye? I'm 'spose to have dinner tonight." {Firan}
Nydiam smirks at Sabine, "I do believe that Lord Sabinus is asking for your esteemed assistance, my queen." {Excellent Firan}
Sabine takes Nydiam's hand and lets him help her up, grumbling all the while and dusting herself off. "Sometimes Elianos' guards are just a bit too efficient! Oh, for pity's sake, look what they've done to my cloak. Look at that hole? Do you see that?" She smacks the guard on the arm. He doesn't flinch, and stays wary. "Now, I suppose I will have to go fix all of this. Lord Nydiam, would you please get the name of the chicken merchant so that I can pay him for his losses?" {Firan}
A guard approaches Sabine, "Queen Sabine, what should we do with the assassin?"
Lokaranis asks Sabine as she is helped up. "Are you alright, My Queen?" {Firan}
Aldrikos meanders around the crowd, sort of belatedly noticing there seems to be near-riot in progress. Egad! How did this happen? Well, he starts to wave his arms, calling for order and calm. "All is well! You have no cause for alarm, good citizens!" Somebody ungently tells him about assassins and the Queen in passing. "Zounds! Knavish chicken assassins!" He inhales with great resolve, then blinks. Some concepts are too ludicrous even for Aldrikos. "Mer, you are hysterical," he replies to his informant. "Here, let us find you a place to sit down and rest." {Excellent Firan}
Sabinus's neck begins to turn blood-red, and a small cut opening on his neck, ue to the extream tention, "Hey you ther, guard, help me up atleast huh?" {Firan}
The guard steps on Sabinus's head to keep him quiet.
Sabinus screams in pain, and manages to speak, "You dimwitted fool! Do you realize what you are doing!?" {Firan}
Sabine nods to Lokaranis, lips pursed. "Yes, yes, I'm fine, I'm fine," she says stepping out a little from the circle of guards that now surround her. "What assasin?" {Firan}
A new cut manages to open up on his cheek area, from the guards seemingly iron boots or something, just very hard.
The guards pick Sabinus up and drag him over to the queen. "This man was trying to kill you with an arrow. Isn't he the son of Garen the Assassin?" asks one.
Sabinus is now bleeding from the cheek, an neck, and scars are over his knees ans the cobblestone rips into his toga.
Sabinus coughs, "You dimwitted guards, by the name of Firanos." {Firan}
Sabine puts her hand to her forehead and closes her eyes. "Oh for the love of the gods." She groans, then gathers her composure. "Silence!" she instructs Sabinus. {Firan}
The other guard says, "He tried to shoot us too when we arrested him."
Nydiam looks to Sabine, "As you wish, my queen." and immediately crosses the market to the poor, poor merchant who is blathering on how his whole economic existance depended on the sale of his chicken. The old merchant looks at Nydiam and tries to convince him to purchase a yak at three times the price in order to compensate the loss of his chickens. {Excellent Firan}
Aldrikos wanders about, assuring citizens that all is well and that nobody is assassinating anybody while the guard is around, least of all any fowl.
Sabinus seems to be silent, as his head drops, he seems to have passed out, then you see the long cut across his back.
It's only a flesh wound.
Sabine turns to the guards who have captured Sabinus and straightens her stola, a single curl having escaped her pinned up hair, and she tucks it behind her ear in consternation. "Now, see here. This is Garen's son. He was not trying to kill me. He did, however, disobey my direct order and draw his bow and fire. Make of that what you will, and charge him as you see fit. Such would be a crime in my district. But Elianos is a bleeding heart about these things." {Firan}
The guard nods slowly, letting it sink in that they have not actually captured an assassin.
The guard stands there stupidly.
Sabine frowns and suggests, "Disturbing the peace, negligence, insubordination. . ." I suggest a fine and a spanking. {Firan}
Sabinus twitches his head up, hearing the word assasin, "Assasin! You think I tried to kill her? What about that man th..." hes cut off and his head drops agian. Overexcitement? "" {Excellent Firan}
Aldrikos happens into a weapon merchant stall, eyeing the armed and somewhat excitable merchant a little puzzledly. He smiles encouragingly. "Do not worry, mer! All is under control. You have no need to fear losses to life or property!" {Firan}
The guard blinks, "Yes, Queen Sabine. It shall be done." They haul Sabinus away.
Sabine lifts a finger and instructs, "And don't injure him." {Excellent Firan}
The guards are heard to be saying things like, "Now you shut your mouth, bad little boy," as they drag him away for corporal punishment.
Nydiam nods and listens to the merchant for a few minutes more, "Yes, I am sure that the yak has served your family well..." and then the merchant rants for a few more minutes on how this yak saved his child from a burning tent. Nydiam sighs and shakes his head, "Okay, I will take him...Here." and hands over to the merchant a small pouch of steni, "Just make sure he is delivered to the Royal Eagle Stables, mer." {Firan}
Sabinus sighs as hes dragged away, "I'm not a boy dimwit." can be heard off in the distance. {Firan}
Sabinus has left.
Azara sighs faintly, stepping out carefully, slowly, from the stall as things start to clear a bit.
Sabine leans heavily on her staff and grumbles to the guards as she approaches where Nydiam is, "I'm an old woman? Do you have any idea how easy it is to break hips of old people? From now on, there will be none of this pushing the Queen onto the ground business, you hear?" {Firan}
Shorister comes in from the north.
Shorister has arrived.
Sabine hobbles over to Nydiam and chuckles. "How much does the Republic owe you, Lord Nydiam?" {Firan}
Nydiam grumbles after handing over the money, "By the way, mer, Her Majesty would like to know your name, so that she can compensate any damages that this incident that may have caused you." {Firan}
Shorister makes his way into the marketplace, nimbly making sure to avoid most of the marketplace foottraffic as he strolls.
The chaos in the market seems to have died down somewhat now, though no one is sure if the assasin has been caught, if there were two, if it's safe to come out, or not, or if more wild chickens are about.
Nydiam looks behind him at Sabine and bows quickly, "Oh, your majesty, the Republic owes us nothing."
The merchant follows Nydiam's lead and bows nervously, "Er..hullo, yer majesty. I am Vernikos." He does not look up at her. {Excellent Firan}
Shorister looks about curiously, noticing all the guards, and the scene on hand. He makes his way towards the direction of the more important guards and nobles, but stays quiet, not interfering other than to make his way towards the scene and sate his curiosity.
Sabine puts her hands to her temples. "Hello Mer Vernikos. So sorry for all this trouble. Lord Nydiam will take care of your needs. I'd do it myself, but I've developed a very bad headache." She hands Nydiam a bag of coins. {Firan}
Aldrikos wanders around, announcing all is well and the assassins are not a problem and the chickens are sedated to all in his general area, which is still more or less on the other side of the Forum from where he started.
Chicken feathers still float through the air, and angry merchants are starting to put their upturned carts back the way they were.
Vernikos, the evil rioting poultry vendor and yak salesman, lifts his head and smiles evilly towards Nydiam. He looks back to Sabine, "Thank you, yer Majesty, M'lord over here is in need fer a few things that I stock. My the gods bless you, yer Majesty."
Sabine announces, "I want to go home." As the guard who stepped on her cloak offers the Queen his arm, she whacks him with her staff. "No, not YOU! You leave my sight. I want. . . I want my nephew to take me home. Find Sentry Aldrikos, or I will not budge from this spot." {Firan}
Sabine seems quite petulant now.
Sabine smiles vaguely in the direction of Vernikos and waves her hand politely, but dismissively, as if to say, "Yes yes, whatever." {Firan}
Nydiam bows again to Sabine and looks back to Vernikos. They confer for a few minutes longer, and another exchange of coins is made. Nydiam shakes his head and makes his way eastward. He is heard muttering, "Now, I really need a drink." {Firan}
Shorister looks after Sabine curiously, raising his brow a bit. It's been very...interesting the few times he's seen the woman.
Nydiam has left.
Nydiam heads east.
Sabine crosses her arms, refusing the entreaties of the other guards. No, she will have Sentry Aldrikos, or no one.
Shorister has left.
Shorister heads east.
Azara sighs faintly, watching Sabine and those around her, her arms folded across her belly.
Sabine goes through the doors to the bath house.
Sabine has left.
Aldrikos proceeds along, his sort of circular route taking him back towards the baths where the whole conflagaration sort of took off. A couple chicken feathers float past him, and his eyes sort of light up with a sudden idea. Halting his dispersal of calming statements, he snags the feathers out of the air and drops them into his collection pack. Souveniers so acquired, he keeps heading on. "All my go about their business! There is no danger!" {Firan}
Sabine arrives from the direction of Main Entrance.
Sabine has arrived.
You don't notice Aldrikos.
A herald passes by and shouts, "It's Firan time: 04:01:02 PM on Sun Feb 18, in the year 17 A.U., and The Clan Council could not decide, at their bi-annual meeting, on the initiative to allow the Ranivor to arbitrate the citizenship of children born to parents from different clans. They will take up the issue again in the spring."
Sabine catches sight of Aldrikos, down the street and waves to him. "Aldrikos!" {Firan}
Lokaranis finds the people he was talking to gone. He wanders back off towards the north

Sabine smiles, huffily, but pleased to see him nonetheless. She laces her hand through Aldrikos' elbow. "Take me home, dear." she says insistantly. {Excellent Firan}
