Overview
Acelya Istanar is a woman who is intolerant of those who are improper. She has no time to waste in listening to petty squabbles and most of the time wishes to be left alone about them. Recently, she attempted to better herself by attending temple on a regular basis and boasts of nothing but her tireless duty to the Bear Clan and her family Istanar.
Early History
Acelya comes from a long line of family members who seem to love creating scandals for the family. Her parents were executed for treasonous behavior. Each of her siblings ensured the continuation of said scandals, but have since attempted to rebuild the Istanar family name.
Recent History
Recently, Acelya gave birth to her first child, Darrah Istanar. Acelya was hired as Lady Laurelia's Lady's Maid. Acelya is very proud of being chosen for the position and plans to do all she can to be loyal and prove herself as a useful asset to the Ista Aldrik family.
Personality & Beliefs
Acelya is a woman who guards her emotions well, revealing them only to those closest to her, and she rarely lets anyone get too close. She's very proper, with not one stray hair out of line, ever. She is very serious, and has always been mature for her age, though capable of impish, free humor when the mood strikes her. She's overly capable, too. A perfectionist. She excels at many things, and the things she doesn't, she doesn't bother doing. She very much does NOT want the stigma attached to her that her parents brought on the family, or even that her older siblings have brought on themselves, which causes great conflict within her. She isn't sure if she should love her family for who they are, because they're her family, or if she should be disappointed and angry at them, because they just aren't perfect.
Family Life
Parents
- Idalia(d) was executed for treason against the Bear throne. Acelya doesn't remember much about this woman at all except that there was a chilly reception between them. Idalia was always to busy to spend time with her, besides Acelya thinks her mother was very improper and a troublemaker. Her mother died when Acelya was three years old.
- Meriht(d) was executed along with Idalia for treason against the Bear throne. He was known for his loyalty and devotion to the Bear Clan. Acelya remembers him as a kind and gentle man that offered her support when it was needed. She has a soft memory of her father and misses him greatly. She always asks herself why he went along with her mother. Acelya was three when her father died.
Siblings
- Naraki is Acelya's eldest sister. She was married out to Parosh Dilarik before Acelya could even remember her as a child. They are distant from one another, but affectionate. Naraki heaped scandal upon the Istanar family, though no one will tell Acelya why. She does wonder often if Naraka's shame brought on the madness of her parents. Naraki is a Priestess of Eesha, which burns pride in Acelya's heart.
- Winaros(d) was Acelya's champion. After their parents were executed, Winaros became like a father figure to Acelya. he would visit her to cheer her up. Unfortunately, he shot an arrow into a rioting crowd and was killed because of it. Acelya wonders often why he did such a foolish thing, but she still loves him and misses him greatly.
- Odoni is Acelya's big sister. After her parents' execution, Odoni was left to raise Acelya until she was sent off to live with nobles. Odoni as of late has been somewhat attentive and caring toward Acelya, perhaps the two of them are patching things up. Odoni is a Healer and Sentry in the Republic Guard and also a Priestess of Lord Firanos, something of which Acelya is extremely proud of.
- Olicia was Adopted by her parents before their execution, Olicia is viewed as an incorrigible child. She is currently living with Odoni. Acelya wants as little to do with this girl as possible, after all she isn't proper and she doesn't act like a Bear!
- Riven is The youngest adopted brother. Acelya never grew up with him but knew of his colossal temper. He has grown from that to a detached and distant man, hard to get to know. They ended up living together on the Teranzik estate before Acelya got into some trouble which she doesn't like to talk about. He was very supportive of her and the two became closer. Riven was much more protective of her and she had been known on occasion to call him her most favorite brother.
- Kamnia is Acelya's youngest sister, whom isn't adopted. She believes Kamnia to be a big fat brat. She loses her composure around Kamnia swiftly. Acelya avoids her like the plague due to her rotten attitude on life and in general.
- Dar is Acelya's best friend, even though he's three years younger than her. For years now, it has been just the two of them together, as they were the ones Lady Pamella chose to take home with her, that one fateful day in the Teranzik nursery. He's incorrigible, mischievous, and full of giggles, where she is prim, proper and overly serious, but they seem to bring out the best in one another, and balance each other, like scales. Of all of her family, she feels the closest to him, and it's simply because she knows him the best. He's trouble waiting to happen, but Acelya works hard to shelter him from hurt. And unlike Odoni treated her when she was little, she is only more than happy to have him tag along with her wherever she goes.
- Sarania is one of Acelya's sisters, probably one of the youngest. She doesn't hear much about this child except her chatter chatter ways.
Marriage
- Jakobi is a cook by trade and works for the Sennets in the Griffon district. His patron deity is Lady Kamnestra. He is a little rough around the edges, but Acelya considers him her husband despite that.
Children
- Darrah was born on March 1, 43 AU in the morning hours. She is a loved baby girl. She has brown eyes, black hair, and tan skin. She looks just like her mother!
Accomplishments & Successes
- On Firan Time, March 1 43 A.U. Acelya gave birth to Darrah Istanar in the early morning hours. She is a quiet baby with black hair, brown eyes, and tan skin.
- On Firan Time, Oct 12 42 A.U. Acelya married mer Jakobi in the Elikian temple. The ceremony was small and lead by Lady Seyhalia Shadina.
- In 42 AU, she wished to become an Initiate of Eesha. She turned in her essay to Mother Chelona.
- In 41 AU, she became Lady Laurelia's Lady's Maid, something of which she is thankful to Lady Eesha for.
Scandals & Failures
- Antonian Apostasy - In 39 AU, right after Acelya's Ceremony of Souls, she went to Lady Yasha Rissik to ask for a chance to be her Lady's Maid. Lady Yasha accepted. Acelya did this without consulting her sister Odoni, the Istanar Head of House. A part of the Chimera Clan, Lady Yasha made Acelya feel welcome and Acelya felt she might like it there. When everything happened and Lady Yasha was charged with treason, Acelya was at a loss why she was in trouble over her affiliation with Yasha. Something happened and she was put under house arrest for weeks on end possibly pegged a traitor to the Bear Clan. She can only guess it is because of her affiliation with Lady Yasha. After some deep reflection and thought, Acelya wishes to rebuild the trust that she has broken in the past. This has to be the worse scandal that has Acelya's named attached to it.

Allies
- Laurelia is Acelya's Sponsor and Employer. She has been utmost kind to Acelya and has earned Acelya's trust and utter loyalty. Acelya has become quite fond of the Lady and is thankful to have her support despite her past with the Ista Aldrik family.
- Albel is a kind mer to Acelya. The two met in the forum one day and quickly became friends. Acelya works part-time as a cook for Mer Albel's Blacksmith Shop. She loves all of his dogs and his antics when he gets a childish manner about him. She looks upon him as a brother.
- Arnax is the son of Lady Endeera Shadina. He and Acelya have been able to discuss several different topics in her life. She thinks a lot of this noble man.
- Seyhalia is a Noble Lady and the wife of Lord Arnax. Acelya has done Lady Seyhalia's hair on more than one occasion. The two are cordial and see one another in the forum when Seyhalia wishes to have her hair done.
- Endeera is probably in Acelya's eyes older than the dirt on the ground in Anarinuell. She has learn etiquette and proper carriage as a Bear Woman from Endeera. Recently the two of them sat down and did an ancient Ticanee custom called Quilt making. Acelya recalled her past and learned from it.
- Sasiella is a person with whom Acelya considers a good friend. It is hard to get to know Acelya, but Sasiella has won her over. The two used to share rooms together at the Chimera Mansion when she worked for Lady Yasha. Sasiella has passed due to problems during the birth of her son Tiell. She misses her deeply, but will be there for her family.
- Tioran is Sasiella's husband and has come to be quite a good friend to Acelya. She had been working tirelessly to be able to afford the wedding garb and necklaces that is required for the wedding, Tioran offered to take on the debt to himself. He is a credit to Sasiella and Acelya is thankful he is around for her.
- Chelona is the High Priestess of Eesha. Chelona has been a positive influence to her throughout some recent trials that Acelya has had to trifle with. Chelona's influence brought about a change in Acelya. Acelya is now seeking forgiveness and peace with her family over her rotten attitude towards them. She is thankful to Chelona and looks upon her as a dear mentor and role model.
- Parosh is married to Naraki, Acelya's eldest sister. At first Acelya had problems relating to this mer, she had no idea why. One day she went to the temple to visit with him and found him hurt. Acelya quickly remembered how important family is, so she has made it a mission of hers to get to know Parosh better. She knows that he is a reputable and kind man due to all she has heard.
- Rayna is a strange thing. Acelya cannot figure this girl out. All Acelya knows is that this girl walks around wearing navy constantly and is arranged to marry her brother. Rayna is a hush hush sort of person, so Acelya cannot really get to know her as she'd like to.
- Cyrilla is a very proper and kind Bear woman to Acelya. Cyrilla sees the struggle within Acelya to be utterly proper and is as patient as possible with her. Acelya has a great respect for this woman and will listen to any advice that she has to offer.
Miscellany
Habits
- Temple time is very important to Acelya, so she goes as often as she can make it. She hopes to one day become an Initiate of Eesha and later a Priestess like her other two sisters. She is becoming more and more grounded and maturing with age.
- Donating food to the temples or any one who needs it! She is way generous and loves to see the smile on people as they receive the food.
Likes
- Proper behavior is very important to Acelya, since there is such a lack of it in her past. She wishes to better herself and react better to situations.
- Cooking is one of Acelya's favorite past times. This is her main skill to make some extra money for herself.
- Leaving behind a proud legacy for the next generation of Istanars. All her decisions are based upon that one fact. She wants to clean up the family name.
- Motherhood. Acelya loves her new daughter and does all she can to make a good home and family life for her.
Dislikes
- All the scandal and stigma attached to the Istanar family name. She is very ashamed of her own behavior in the recent past. She has grown quite intolerant of those who do their best to trample on the family name.
- Impropriety and lack of etiquette drive Acelya to madness. She does not like the display of emotion in public, even though she herself has broken this several times.
- Odoni Istanar is one person that Acelya is having a very hard time dealing with on a daily basis. She prays to Lady Eesha every day in temple to help bring the sisters closer together. It is working, but it is progressively slow which is alright in Acelya's book, they have their whole lives to work on this together as sisters and friends.
