Head of Household: Magnus Aegrotik

The Aegrotik family has a long and presigious family line, which the children are taught to memorize from the time they can speak. There are a few notable personalities in the list, all of them military heroes. Although they would probably not strike an outsider as particularly interesting, the family is taught to be proud and to extol the virtues of their ancestors.

By the time the family heir, Pentheus the Elder, had reached his majority, the family was already near exinction. As the only son of an only son, there was a great deal of pressure for him to do great deeds and ensure the survival of the Aegrotik name. The former he accomplished with his excellent swordsmanship, while the latter succeeded via marriage to a young woman from a good family. Together, he and Iphia produced three sons -- Yarkon, Magnus and Iphius.

Iphius died unexpectedly in his childhood, followed shortly thereafter by his mother. Rumor has it that a young Griffon girl, whose parents had been executed by Pentheus in Skirlut, had cursed the family -- one by one they would die, unless he made amends. It would explain Pentheus the Elder's very, very unpopular adoption of the orphaned child -- later called 'Magdilla the Mad'.

Despite being a Gold Dragon, the girl clung to her polytheistic beliefs -- she claimed to have conversations with Uf, some believed her to be the goddess' Avatar. Although she never married, she publicly announced that she had given birth to a stillborn child while visiting the Oracle. It seemed to be the last straw in a series of disturbances Magdilla caused, as the Inquisition came after her. She escaped them, taking asylum in Uf's Temple, only to be killed by the Dragon part of the Chimera in 32 AU.

Pentheus the Elder's first son and heir, Yarkon, became a lawyer and rose to the exaulted position of a Gold Dragon Clan judge. He provided the family with no less than seven children -- Pentheus, Gregor and Esra with Nelia and his later marriage to the widowed Sholana yielded Arnot, Artu, Notmi and Canot. The man struggled to redeem his family's name from Magdilla's tarnish, but all of his efforts were overshadowed by the shame of when Yarkon took then-Acting Queen Lucretia Firgalik hostage in the True Temple. He was killed in 32 AU. In October of 43 AU, Sholana would also perish when Zutiv's Monument crumbled, trapped beneath the rubble.

The family mantle then fell to Magnus, the younger brother who had been described as 'lazy and appetitive', the one who was never intended to lead the Aegrotiks. His passions lay in philosophy and herbology, which left him as an odd duck in a family of soldiers. He married Nortia Emagalish, a healer, and together they have one daughter: Vetesi.

Pentheus the Younger, Yarkon's eldest child, soon grew to be a dutiful and honorable Gold Dragon son. He joined the First Division and married Uryella Gadinik, a herbologist. Together they adopted two boys, Treydan and Delmartan, and produced two more, Iphios and Yaron. He was killed tragically in late 33 AU, during the Market Massacre. His widow later married Raheem Firabi and joined that family, though retains close ties.

Although known in his youth as the 'lazy son', Gregor Aegrotik also took to soldiering after his brother's death and rose to the position of centurion, responsible for his own plantoon. The affable man married Starlette and they have four young children: Hestia, Thalia, Nelyia and Grenier.

Esra, the last of Nelia's children, was almost brought to ruin by her husband Liartes after he delayed the wedding so long that their son was born shortly after the ceremony. Esra and her child Maramin joined the Ranorabus family.

Scandal would soon find the Aegrotiks once again, when the youngest of Yarkon's children was found guilty of false worship by the Inquisition. Canot Aegrotik was excommunicated from the True Temple and banished from the Gold Dragon Clan. He was arrested and held in prison for a very long time, until he was finally declared a Ticanee citizen. Charged and found guilty of 'gross stupidity', Canot was sent to live in Caldera City.

However, the remaining Aegrotiks seem to turning the family's reputation in a new (and arguably better) direction. Several of the young men have dedicated themselves to their clan's service as soldiers. Notably, Centurion Artu Aegrotik has been named the Gold Dragon District Administrator. Still, Magdilla's curse hangs over the family like a stormcloud -- the threat, even with her death, never truly gone. Some regard this as utter nonsense, however.
