Overview
Alessandro Keniwik is a friendly, outgoing man who takes great pride in both his blood family, the Garkansens, and his adopted family, the Keniwiks. He has a strong sense of honor, and his honesty is famous to all that know him. He recently grew famous for his heroic actions in the Ellish Campaign, and was made a Sharanir by the Gold Dragon Clan, and promoted from Centurion to Captain to Commander by his mentor, Lord High General Donos Ista Aldrik, though his path to success was long, hard, and full of personal tragedy and hardship.
Early History
Alessandro was raised by his parents, Sir General Vasyklo Garkansen and Mes Anastashia Garkansen. Both of his parents raised him in nearly opposite manners. From his mother, who sheltered him greatly, as the youngest of his family, who taught him to be kind, friendly, and charming; or his father, who was stern, demanding, and never satisfied with Alessandro's accomplishments, driving him to be greater. From his father, he learned honor, fidelity, and his sense of duty. As a young man in the Chimera Clan, Alessandro found work as a guard for the family that he thought embodied all of the ideals he sought for, the then noble Rissik Family. However, when he joined the military, Alessandro found that while he was good as an Infantryman, his true natural talents lied with archery, and piloting.
All went well for the young man, that is, until he met Throgana Keniwik. While their once famous love story has faded through time, it is something Alessandro can never forget, and it changed his life forever.
Truth be told, Alessandro was not very fond of Throgana when he first met her, though he was deeply attracted to her. But his friend, Mes Jazayeri Istems, saw something between them that convinced her the two needed to be wed. But still, Alessandro resisted, not excited about the prospect of marrying a Gold Dragon, the clan his father risked so much to escape.
However, his fate was sealed when Throgana won the Spring Pentathlon in 21 A.U., and chose Alessandro as her marriage prize. So the horrified Alessandro joined the Gold Dragon clan, much to his family and friends' horror, and became Lord Alessandro Keniwik.
While it never was that Alessandro and Throgana became doe-eyed lovers, Alessandro eventually developed a deep respect and fondness for Throgana, and invested much of his passion into their relationship. As a result of that, two daughters were born to him, Arinsana and Zutani. And his daughters he loved passionately. His life would be perfect, but it carried a great sadness, as his family resented him for becoming a Gold Dragon, and his father would not even speak to him. Only his mother, who he was always closest to, still treated him with affection.
Even still, his life maintained a bit of normalcy, and for years, he lived a content, if not entirely happy life. He even learned to love Throgana deeply, but just after he realized this, disaster struck.
Throgana had joined in a rebellion against Clan Leader Jalil Firgalik, with her brother in law Lord Atreides Keniwik, and entreated Alessandro to join her. However, Alessandro, whatever his feelings for Clan Leader Jalil were, could not and would not betray him, so deep was his sense of loyalty that he could not join the woman he loved in her cause, and soon afterwards, Jalil emerged victorious.
The results were bad for the Keniwiks, and bad for Alessandro. Throgana was denobled, forcibly divorced from Alessandro, and cast out of the clan, with her two daughters. Throgana was accepted into the Chimera clan and founded the Zutivik Family. Alessandro was forbidden from seeing or even mentioning his wife again.
And to make matters worse, just a few years later, Throgana was captured. While publicly he affected aloofness, privately he was devastated, her loss finally hitting him now that he knew he could never see her again. And then again, his best Gold Dragon friend General Firgus Keniwik was captured, and his brother in law and Head of Household Lord Atreides Keniwik was killed in battle.
This led to Alessandro being named Head of Household, and he vowed to rebuild the Keniwik name, which was now diminished. However, things could not go right for the man, as soon afterwards Clan Leader Jalil stripped the Keniwiks of nobility, and married his sister in law, Lady Kameelya, who offered Jalil, without Alessandro's knowledge, the family's assets, including their land, and then was soon after executed for attempting to poison the Clan Leader. So left landless, greatly diminished financially, and with only himself and Firgus's children, Alessandro had to begin again for the once storied family, who was now diminished in status, wealth, and fame.
Recent History
Alessandro found himself, after all of the setbacks he had suffered in life, in a bad situation. The final blow being dealt was that he was demoted from Captain and Centurion. Where lesser men would break, Alessandro found new resolve to succeed.
Alessandro worked for many years, laboring hard to restore the reputation of his family, and his respect amongst his military peers. And while he made small gains, slowly, but surely, it looked like his career, and this his last hope for restoring his family, would remain stalled forever. However, the Ellish Campaign changed all that.
Lord High General Donos Ista Aldrik saw potential in Alessandro no one else could see, not even Alessandro at the time, and set about making him his Aide, under the very capable Lord Captain Adan Ista Barun. After Alessandro led a daring, heroic, and extremely successful mission to scout Fort Zayes, Alessandro's new mentor meritoriously promoted him to Captain, and promised the aging man that he would breed Alessandro for a higher command. However, Lord High General Donos's favor led him to disfavor with his Commander, Tagda Leafchaser. And when Alessandro used his new rank to defend his Centurions and Sentries, and this caused him to be in direct conflict with his superior, who felt he was just posturing to gain more favor with Donos.
This saddened Alessandro greatly, as he had been a loyal supporter of his Commander, but he realized both of them perceived the events that unfolded from different angles. Back at the war, Alessandro continued to perform, participating on the War Command Council, and commanding battles when Tagda was injured and could not participate. But again, tragedy struck Alessandro's life, and the Republic's for that matter, when Lord High General Donos died in battle, in Ellish.
But Donos, presciently seeing the problems Alessandro might encounter without him, arranged for Alessandro to be promoted to Commander, and transferred to the General's Staff. And Donos' efforts saved Alessandro's career, and his family.
Upon returning from Ellish, Clan Leader Ojitar Firgalik honored Alessandro by making him the Gold Dragon Sharanir at the urging of Lord General Zafir Junik. Soon afterwards, he was given more important roles in the clan, being promoted to the Commander of the Active Duty Gold Dragon military, and the CO of the Republic Military Training Academy. Lastly, he sealed an alliance with the Manosik Family by agreeing to marry Mes Anorista Manosik.
Family
Parents
Sir General Vasyklo Garkansen was Alessandro's father. Alessandro spent his entire life trying to impress the man when he was alive, and they rarely got along until very late in life, and finally became as close as one can be with Vasyklo just before he died in battle in Ellish.
Mes Anastashia Garkansen is Alessandro's mother, whom Alessandro has always been very close with. Alessandro would do anything for his mother, and as such, has drawn teasing from his siblings as being a "Mama's Boy"
Siblings
Benkaro was Alessandro's eldest brother, and Alessandro never really knew him. His brother died trying to take Ellish. His eldest brother was the model Vasyklo always seemed to hold him to, and Alessandro greatly admires the man he never knew, and has always been jealous of the admiration his father gave him.
Telephus is Alessandro's eldest living brother. Alessandro has never liked Telephus, and has spent his whole life trying to best his brother in everything possible. This actually turned out to be quite easy, as Telephus married the infamous Liriopi and has since disappeared from public view. The only thing Alessandro ever liked about Telephus was his children.
Jorjeena is Alessandro's only sister. Alessandro got along well with Jorjeena when they were younger, but over the years a series of event saw their relationship very strained. After giving him part of the money he needed for Throgana's dowry, Jorjeena demanded the money back immediately following his marriage, and Alessandro viewed it as a gift. Even after Alessandro stopped being upset about it, Jorjeena harbored a grudge for many years. Furthermore, she couldn't stand his wife Throgana, which caused more rifts between them. They had just began to reconcile, when the scandal that enveloped her and led to her death happened. Alessandro finds, later in life, he misses his sister terribly.
Ambrose is Alessandro's brother, and the only sibling he ever consistently got along with. He even liked his wife, Jalachia. Though for a while his departure to the Gold Dragon clan strained their relationship, this did not last long, and after he lost his wife through the divorce, Ambrose and Alessandro became very close. Alessandro loves his brother, and would do anything to help him.
Balinda is Alessandro's neice, and has always been the person Alessandro has been closes with, besides his mother, in the family. He was overjoyed when she became a Chimera Clan Sharanir, and a Clan Military Commander, and can say she is the one member of his family he has never had a strained relationship with. Alessandro would do absolutely anything for his neice.
Faedrus is Alessandro's nephew and Balinda's brother, and his favorite nephew. Faedrus idol-worships Alessandro, so he is inclined to like his nephew, and was proud of him when he followed in his footsteps to become a pilot. After Faedrus's capture by the Shamibelians, Alessandro has been itching to return to rescue him.
Stavros is Ambrose's adopted son, and thus his nephew. Alessandro knows little about the boy, but considers him a full family member, and looks forward to helping raise him as a Garkansen.
Children
Zutani is Alessandro's first daughter by Throgana. Alessandro has had a strained relationship with his daughters, who for a time thought that Alessandro's time away from them was on purpose, and have abandonment issues. Alessandro has recently began to repair this relationship with Zutani, and they have become cordial, if not especially close yet. Alessandro loves Zutani, but sometimes prefers Arinsana's hot outbursts of emotion, as at least she shows /some/ emotion.
Arinsana is Alessandro's second daughter by Throgana. As with Zutani, his relationship with Arinsana has been rocky. And while Arinsana is dutiful to her father, her hot Throg-like temper often leads with heated arguments with her father. All the same, Alessandro loves his daughter intensely.
Allies
Centurion Arik Zaridik is old school. Almost as old as Alessandro. Arik is a bitter man, and was all but certain to be the Commander of the Air Force, until his conflict with Republic Military Command had the position handed to Commander Tagda Leafchaser. As a result, Arik became more and more bitter, and eventually retired from the Republic Military. However, Alessandro considers him one of the most experienced and knowledgeable soldiers he knows, and persuaded him to re-enlist as the Training Centurion for the Military Academy. The two have been friends, and Arik serves as a harsh reality check when Alessandro's heads drift to far into the clouds... which is very often.
Lord Initiate Centurion Emil Firgalik is a relatively new ally to Alessandro. A priest, and Clan Leader Ojitar Firgalik's brother, Emil has taken an interest in Alessandro's status within the clan, and has promised, in return for continued loyal service and diligence, his best efforts to help Alessandro achieve his goals within the clan. While Alessandro normally avoids Royals like the plague, and the trouble they can bring, Alessandro finds Emil as a good man, and someone to stay in good graces with.
Lady Centurion Endeera Shadina was the other Training Academy Centurion that Alessandro selected. Contrasted to Arik's rough and tumble, and often rude exterior, Alessandro finds Lady Centurion Endeera the missing piece of the puzzle for him. Legendary in her Etiquette, and rich in her knowledge of all of the non-martial things Arik is so proficient at, Alessandro knows, through his conflicts with Dame General Alexa Wolfhawk to receive her services, that he is very lucky to have her as a subordinate. She serves as a check to Alessandro when his temper gets the best of him, or he is unsure of the proper way of doing things, the rock to Arik's hammer.
Centurion Jericho Iyandin worked under Alessandro when he was a Captain, and Alessandro considers him a close friend. While the man is hot tempered, and often gets himself into trouble, he means well and Alessandro has gone through great strides to make sure the man has the opportunity to have a successful career. But outside of the military, Alessandro considers him a loyal friend and ally.
Priestess Kodiachi Iyandin is Jericho's wife, and Alessandro and Kodiachi were from the first moment they met fast friends. Alessandro considers her, along with her husband, as one of his closest friends.
Mes Omri Emaglish was once a Keniwik family servant, and has since become an accomplished bowyer. Alessandro was good friends with her when he was a Noble, and that relationship continued once he was made common once more. Omri has always been there for Alessandro, and Alessandro will always be there for her, both of them having done large favors for each other throughout the years.
Lady Rasha Didoron has been friends with Alessandro since she was a Rissik, and the two have had a friendly relationship ever since. Alessandro and Rasha very briefly considered marriage, but Rasha, understandably, decided to marry a noble, thus securing a good future for his children. Alessandro bore this quite cheerfully, and has maintained a cordial relationship with her ever since.
Lord Proxy Rodiste N'Gato became an unlikely ally of Alessandro's after the war season. Willed to be friends by their joint mentor Lord High General Donos Ista Aldrik, the two became fast friends, and have spent increasing time with each other, helping each other in all of their endeavors.
Centurion Sharin Rissik was appealing to Alessandro at first because he was a Rissik, whom Alessandro has always admired, but through his heroics and stalwart showing of competance and fidelity, Alessandro has grown to admire the man. While saddened by Sharin's bitterness towards his failed quest to regain Rissik nobility, he has worked his hardest to further the man's career in the military.
Mes Vesia Aurik has become a most unlikely ally of Alessandro. As clan Sharanir, Alessandro has assisted Vesia in various tasks she has asked him to complete, and as a result, is very generous to him, spreading good words around him and giving him gifts of cologne. While Alessandro would do anything to assist anyone in his clan, he is usually never happier than to assist this proper Gold Dragon woman.
Mes Yapra was once Alessandro's sister in law, and has always been a loyal and supporting friend. There is nothing Alessandro would not do to help this woman, who has given more than she was ever required to by family ties to help and support him. He loves her like a sister.
Lord Judge Yosun Manosik is Alessandro's sponsor, and while Alessandro knows very little about him, is allied to him simply by the fact he is his sponsor and future father in law. He is kind, just, if not a bit aloof, and Alessandro has a deep respect for the man.
Lord General Zafir Junik is one of Alessandro's most prized allies. Alessandro views him as the greatest living Hero in the Firan Realms, and even with all his self-promoting he is not recognized nearly often enough for it. Zafir was the one who arranged for him to be made a Sharanir, and authored the Zafirian Code, which Alessandro lives by. Besides his father, Zafir is probably the only man Alessandro lives in awe of.
Mes Zeezee Aurik is Alessandro's niece through the Keniwiks, and Alessandro is fond of her. He looked after her a lot when she was a child, and though they have never been what anyone would call very close, he still does whatever he can to support her.
Enemies
Commander Tagda Leafchaser is Alessandro's former Commander, and former friend. When he became a favorite of Lord High General Donos, Tagda seemed to resent this attention, feeling that he got a big head about it, and became disloyal to her. Alessandro feels that Tagda is jealous of the attention he got, and that she has deeply betrayed him as a friend. They often come into conflict over Air Force issues, and really now any issues at all. Overall, however, this makes Alessandro more sad then angry, at losing this talented and brave woman as a friend, despite her, in his perception's, major instability and insecurity.

Habits
- Alessandro has a tendency to laugh a lot, and has a problem being serious when he needs to be.
- Alessandro is famous for his honesty, and that gets him into no ends of trouble, and is the only thing he is prone to get into conflicts about, should that honesty come into question.
- Alessandro has a reputation for, in Gold Dragon fashion, being a bit self-promoting.
- Alessandro also has a reputation for loving booze, and flirting shamelessly with women.
- Alessandro is infamously terrible in competitions, and famously successful in wars.
Likes
- Drinking. Alessandro is always up for some boozing, which often leads to some friendly brawling.
- Family. Alessandro puts nothing above his loyalty to his family and friends.
- Flying. Alessandro loves to fly, and does so at any small excuse.
- Women. Alessandro is a shameless flirt, and loves the entire game of it, though this has settled down as he has aged.
Dislikes
- Conflict. Alessandro will do almost anything that doesn't compromise his integrity or sense of duty to avoid a conflict with someone, even so far as many times losing battles that are important to him.
- Impropriety. While Alessandro is not exactly the most proper man, Alessandro gets very angry at people that are highly improper, like those who insult Nobility, are disloyal, lie, or break any laws whatsoever.
- Disloyalty. The only thing that will make Alessandro hate someone is discovering the person is disloyal. Alessandro has room to throw stones here, and has never been disloyal in his life... so has the unreasonable expectation everyone else will follow suit.
