Official Statement

If I may be so bold as to give my statement too--I am Anorna Vettle, slave of Ruffialo, and I strive to be worthy. Since returning to my master, I have done nothing but try to prove myself to him. I would never do harm to anyone without his permission as you all know. There are many unworthy slaves, however, who should be interrogated closely, and Feathyr is one of them. Oh, she pretends to be a good messenger girl, and so they trust her to travel anywhere, but deep down, she hates you all. You should not have entrusted her with free travel permits. She could have gone off the Night of Obala's pride to murder Governor Hralib and no one would have questioned it!

Background

Anorna has lived a life of change and transition. As a Shamibelian slave, she grew accustomed to slavery -- to an extent she even enjoyed it. Then, the Firan forces set her free, and she lived in Anarinuell where, in an attempt to make the best of things, she settled down, married, and had children. But in truth Anorna was never very happy and when the Shamibelians captured Anarinuell, she jumped for joy.

Settling back in as a slave, Anorna was happy to return to her old master, Ruffialo. In Anorna's eyes, Ruffialo was the best of Masters and she could never understand why he didn't become Governor. Anorna is now determined to prove Master Ruffialo's worthiness, in the hope that one day, he'll be made governor.

Anorna really hates the idea of living in a tent and while she works with potions and teas to make her Master money, she is doing everything she can to talk him into taking a wife, and making him look the best she can.

Relationships

• Ruffialo -- Anorna's beloved master.
• Rodiste -- The man Ruffialo makes Anorna 'mate' with, so that she'll produce a docile slave babies. Anorna would rather mate with Ruffialo.
• Sarina -- Ruffialo's new slave girl. Anorna will see her dead before she lets her usurp her place as Ruffialo's favorite!
• Aylina -- A crazy brothel slave. Aylina is always taunting Anorna, and Anorna thinks very little of her overall.

Goals

1. Make it up to Ruffialo that you 'escaped' for all those years.
2. Convince Priest Tatomir to make Ruffialo the Governor of Anarinuell.
3. Milk your relationship with Rodiste for as long as it lasts--because you're certain you deserve better.
4. Find Ruffialo a wife so that he can have some property--you're tired of sleeping in a tent.
5. Make sure that Sarina knows you don't trust her, and that she had better not try to usurp you as Ruffialo's favorite slave or she'll pay.
6. Scope out the treasure of other Shamibelian warriors so that you and Ruffialo know who to raid.
7. Talk with Lainath about how his mother went from being a slave to a Shamibelian wife. Anorna is certain this is the path for her.
8. Convince Ruffialo that the child you're carrying is his

Anorna Round One

Round One Reveal

Vitara Pevifa's daughter Fara, who became a slave after her mother refused to gift her any land, intended to get pregnant by a full-blooded Shamibelian male, because if she gave birth to a pure-blooded son, it would strengthen her claim to freedom. Anorna's guess is that she was going to take advantage of the Night of Obala's Pride to seduce Hralib and get pregnant by her own mother's husband. For shame. Some people die of shame, but maybe Fara killed for it.

Bivin doesn't want his sister Tabitha to get married because then he'd have to go find his own wife or live in tents as a nomad, and Bivin kind of likes having a roof over his head. He might have killed Hralib to keep him from marrying Tabitha off.

Ruffialo told Anorna that Bivin "accidentally" revealed one of Hralib's secrets--which wife he preferred--and that he has refused to get himself leeched for forgiveness. If Hralib found out, he would consider this a reason to kill Bivin. Maybe Bivin did it first.

Hralib actually preferred Nobifa to Pevifa as far as wives go. Could there have been any jealousy at hand?

Everyone knows that Scithvor was banished from Ellish for his exceedingly violent raids in which he accidentally killed other Shamibelians. What if Hralib's death was a violent raid gone wrong?

Everyone knows that Scithvor is a strong and violent raider who may not have had difficulty subduing Hralib or killing him.

Malentez was reluctant to sell Savanna to Hralib because he was hoping she was pregnant with his daughter, and wanted to keep a daughter with him as a slave. But Anorna knows Hralib was buying large quantities of infertility potions and abortifacients to give to Savanna to keep that from happening. It was Hralib's hope that if Savanna failed to get pregnant, Malentez would be more willing to sell her. Boy, if Malentez found out that his plans for his own slave were being interfered with that way, he'd have killed Hralib in a heartbeat.

Of course, Hralib was also having Melani buy fertility potions for him--the Governor really could have saved a lot of money if he bought a slave who had apothecary skills.

Melani went to Anorna to get the fertility potions that Hralib asked for. Did Melani put something in those potions that Anorna sent to him?

Round One Conceal

It was a complete insult that Hralib was made Governor of Anarinuell instead of Ruffialo. Now that Hralib is dead, hopefully those close to the Emperor will see fit to appoint Ruffialo to his rightful position, and Anorna intends to make sure that happens. By any means necessary.

Besides, Governor Hralib was the worst of the worst. He was trying to ruin Anorna's reconciliation with Master Ruffialo. First, he got the idea in Ruffialo's head that he should breed Anorna to Rodiste. Anorna deserved to have Ruffialo's baby, not Rodiste's, and she has never forgiven Hralib for the insult.

But worse, Hralib recently sold Ruffialo a young nubile Ticanee slave named Sarina. It was really the last straw.

Anorna knows that shortly after Hralib and Throgana were found dead, Rodiste gave her a single expensive earring to wear, as a gift. He wouldn't tell her where he got it.

Anorna learned from the other slaves that Sarina was meant to fight as a gladiator at the Night of Obala's pride. She saw to it that Sarina's weapon would not outlast the fight.

Anorna has a plan. She knows that under some very shady circumstances, a slave once became her master's wife. Namely, Lainath's mother. Anorna wants to become Ruffialo's wife in the same way, but this is going to take some set up. First, she's got to set up a Shamibelian woman to marry Ruffialo--perhaps Nobifa would do, with Hralib dead. Then she'd have to forge a Last Will and Testament for the unlucky bride, leaving Anorna her land in case of her demise. Third, she'd have to kill Ruffialo's wife, and then he would be free to marry her. It's brilliant! And so simple!

Round Two Reveal

Anorna knows that Nobifa was taking herbs to keep from getting pregnant--in Shamibelian culture, a marriage is not official until the first child is born. Could Nobifa have killed Hralib to keep him from finding out about her treachery?

Anorna knows that Aylina has been buying potions from her, but nothing poisonous--only sleeping potions.

Anorna know that Melani is pregnant by Hralib, and that she resented it enough to kill him. After all, she said she was afraid that if Torianos found out, he would do something rash!

Jalil has been seeking a very strong concentration of poison, which causes a quick death if ingested or stabbed into the body on the edge of a poisoned blade. Why would he be seeking such a thing, if not to kill Hralib with it?

Anorna knows that Torianos had ashes on his clothes the Night of Obala's Pride. Wasn't Hralib found with ash in his mouth?

As well as Hralib generally treated Emma, he kept her apart from her father Jalil, and she may have resented it. Emma was sent to live with Pevifa while Jalil lived in Nobifa's house, so it's not a far stretch to assume that one of Hralib's own resentful slaves killed him after all.

Rodiste resisted being a good slave for a long time, but recently he has been so trustworthy he was even given the honor of guarding the catacombs for Hralib. He can't possibly be a suspect, can he be?

On the other hand, Rodiste always resented Hralib for suggesting that Ruffialo breed him to Anorna to create some nice docile Hydran slave babies. Although Rodiste seemed to have started to accept his role in life, it could have been a sham, and he might have just been waiting to kill Hralib for the insult to his Hydran honor.

Anorna knows that Rodiste went to the Slave Temple the morning that Throgana died, and since it was the morning after the festivities, he could have run into her alone.

Anorna noticed that Rodiste has a slash mark on his face--could that have happened during a struggle with Hralib last night while he was committing murder?

Round Two Conceal

Anorna knows Aldrin converted Ruffialo to the Firan religion and that because of this, Ruffialo was constantly afraid Hralib would find out. Anorna has little doubt that her master could have killed Hralib, if it came down to it.

Ruffialo tracked ash into his tent when he finally got home, in the wee hours of the morning on the Night of Obala's Pride. Hralib had ash in his mouth. Coincidence?

1. See what dirt you can dig up on Emma or Akiva to use to blackmail them into forging a Last Will and Testament for Ruffialo's unlucky bride-to-be, whoever she might be, leaving you land.
2. See if you can arrange a hasty wedding between Ruffialo and the unlucky-bride-to-be

Reveal

Emma was pregnant by Hralib and surely that would be reason enough for Emma to kill him, right? Even if Emma herself didn't - and she had the opportunity - the Firan men closest to her must have been behind it - former Clan Leader Jalil and Aldrin!

Uh oh. You're going into labor!

Round Three Conceal

Anorna knows that when Melani came to her for fertility potions, Anorna put poison in them hoping to put the poor girl and her master out of their misery. Melani never knew that the fertility potions were poisoned. Hralib must have shared the poison with Throgana instead, and the two of them died, so Melani is actually innocent. It's Anorna that killed them.

Your baby is a boy, and it's Rodiste's.

1. It's probably a sin to try to kill the Governor of Anarinuell, so get yourself leeched by a priest for religious redemption.
