ARINZI: Joining with the Sea

The Hydra city of Arinzi is the most flourishing of Hydra cities, and also the place of the clan's palace and seat of government. Situated where two great rivers meet and flow into the ocean, Arinzi has rich farm land and many resources from the sea.

Arinzi is a large city and is considered by the Hydrans to be a city faced with constant temptation from across the river. The Eagle city of Lurashar can be seen across the river from Arinzi and it is considered a city of decadence and sin. As a result, Arinzi takes on a purposefully sedate and religious demeanor -- its citizens shun decoration and make most buildings from plain bricks and wood.

During the Hydran Exodus after then Clan Leader Belik Istabelik withdrew his clan from the Republic, Arinzi became a sort of refugee settlement for the Hydran citizens of Anarinuell. Then a Gold Dragon Clan Proxy, Lord Argus Firgalik decreed that the Hydrans could not live within the borders of Anarinuell if they were not a part of the Firan Republic, and the clan was given 24 hours to gather its belongings and remove itself from Gold Dragon lands.

Belik and his people settled in Arinzi, and they suffered great hardships - famine, overcrowding, plague, and exposure claimed many lives, and some nearly rose up in rebellion against the Clan Leader. Fortunately for the Hydran people, they soon returned to the Republic and to Anarinuell, though some say that the clan never recovered from this political move.
