Overview
Although his smile is a charming one and his blue eyes bright, he nevertheless has something of a darkness about him, tan skin tending towards bronze and hair a jet black. Tall and lean, he moves as a shadow would, passing from place to place in silence and in stealth, smoky until he grins or winks -- and he does so often. He has grown into a muscular if trim build, light on his feet and swift to move when the occasion calls for it. His face is boldly-cut, sharp and striking: the allure of intensity.
Asalan has been known to love the crowds when he's in the gladiator arena, and he easily carries his reputation of being a flirt. He has a terrible habit of depending on lines like "Hey, how you doin'? I'm a gladiator, wanna go back to my place?" far too often, as they rarely work. While he's easy going and often found in a friendly mood, his demeanor can be quick to change. Asalan doesn't hesitate to hit a man in the nose for an offense, or even an unattractive woman! While he lives in the Old City, he it not known to be a thief. He enjoys great successes in the Gladiator arena, and he currently holds the Republic Championship Belt. Asalan is known for his loyalty to friends and family.
Family Life
Parents
He is the son of Pendasala and Viklon Valerian. Asalan has taken the profession of his father, who was a famous gladiator known as the Ferret. Viklon had a long history in Firan culture, having been born a Gold Dragon, he was enslaved at age 4. When he escaped much later in life he settled into the Old City and married Asalan's mother. Viklon died Dec 1, 23 AU in an attempt to save the lives of others during a Kraken attack along the Boardinghouse District near the Rose and Thorn Inn. He was snagged by one of the Kraken's tentacles, squeezed, and then released when the Kraken went underwater. Asalan's father died by drowning from this incident, and his body was recovered later when it washed ashore.
Marriage
Asalan's marriage to Shade was a quiet and unassuming on May 11th 39AU. Both tell a similar story of how they first met, and it included Shade being hit on the head and Asalan dragging her back to his apartment. They married a year or so after living together, and have since started a family with their first daughter born in 40 AU. The two make quite the contrasting pair. Shade is an initiate for the Temple of Uf, and she has been known to throw tea parties for the Old City. These tea parties are often tolerated, and usually enjoyed, as Asalan manages to spice them up with thugs and hos in true Old City fashion. Asalan is known to be very protective of his wife, to the point of beating people up for looking at her in the wrong way.
Siblings
Asalan has three brothers, Vicklo, Viklerian and Parlan. Viklerian lives with Asalan and Shade, and Vicklo has not been seen around the Old City in some time. Three boys are the result of the same marriage, and Parlan was born years after Viklon died.

Asalan goes into the gladiator ring known as The Ghost, a reputation he has from readily dodging hits and scoring victorious blows without having taken much damage himself. Here's a history of his Gladiator Fighting:
Match 1: Triple Death Match - Asalan vs Achillus vs Janus
Achillus took down Janus, and Asalan defeated Achillus to win his first gladiator match. Asalan didn't take a single strike of damage, and he fought both men during the battle. This match setup his next match with The Silver Serpent, Aspius.
Match 2: For a Title Match - Aspius vs Asalan(Apr 24, 39AU)
Asalan took down Aspius in just two hits, and earned himself a championship match against the winner of Achillus vs Aspius. The match was quick, and free attendance was offered to the next match by Lady Xamori to please the crowd.
Match 3: For the Title - Aspius vs Asalan (Mar 24, 40 AU)
It was another quick match in the arena, as Asalan engaged Aspius early on and didn't give him the opportunity to use his knife. A few quick hits ended the match to earn Asalan the Gladiator Championship!As it was another quick match, Asalan offered to brawl anyone in the crowd that would stand up against him. Without healing or eating, he defeated two young gladiators before finally being knocked out.
Match 4: For the title - Achillus vs Asalan (May 15, 41 AU)
Asalan had the early advantage in this match, but the gladiators largely traded blows. A hard hit on Asalan's forearm sent him down the ground with the victory going to Achillus. As the crowds died down over cheering their new champion, Asalan got up from the ground and challenged for an immediate rematch. With the match being quick, Lord Marsalos allowed the challenge to take place, and the two had their second match of the night. They quickly traded blows, but Asalan hit Achillus hard in an unarmored area that sent the brief champion to the ground giving Asalan the victory.
Match 5: For the title - Korok vs asalan (Nov 24, 41 AU)
The Inquisitor Sernon was the original intended challenger, but when he failed to show-up the rookie Korok The Tiger took his place. The match was a straight brawl, and Korok got a few hard hits that had the champion bleeding early in the match. Asalan out-hit Korok two to one, though Korok's punches showed promise as he hurt Asalan throughout the match. Korok finally fell on a massive punch in the gut that send The Tiger to the ground in pain. Asalan retained the belt.
