Overview

“I was born in Ellish and I was a slave there but I would not call myself a slave. I am a Ticanee, always was and always will be.”

Asenka Tibenya is a Ticanee woman who is proud of her heritage, though unlike many, she learned of her people and their ways through whispers in the dark and the hazy recollections of those who had been long enslaved. Her understanding of Firan culture is weaker than her grasp of the language, but she has settled in Anarinuell anyway to carve out a niche for herself, plying her potions and telling fortunes to those who care to catch a glimpse of the past, or the future.

History

The majority of Asenka's life was spent in Ellish. Born into slavery, Asenka was permitted to learn a trade there and became quite skilled at the art of potion-making - the creation of medicines and the like.

In the war season of 42 A.U. - when Asenka was fifteen - Firan forces successfully reclaimed Ellish but nearly caused her death. The call went out for Ticanee slaves to be sacrificed and Asenka was rounded up with the rest. Later found by Alexa and Sabria, Asenka followed them to the Firan camps where she lost track of them.

Present Day

Asenka eventually made her way to Anarinuell, following the soldiers stationed in Ellish as they were rotated home. The city is a dizzying place and often unfriendly to those who don't fit in, but Asenka has been inside the walls more often, showing her face — or at least parts of her face — around the Ticanee and Palace Districts.

Personality & Beliefs

Asenka is mysterious and enigmatic. She has a mysticism about her, and likes to collect bones and all manner of creepy things like eyeballs, frog legs, etc. While she is not unhappy, Asenka is very serious sometimes and only comfortable when she feels accepted. The woman is drawn to dark clothing and things that cover her face.

Appearance

Feature: Long and thin fingers

A young woman, Asenka has hazel eyes, hip-length sleek dark red hair and freckled fair skin. Asenka appears to weigh about 125 pounds and stands about 5'4" tall. Achingly beautiful, this maiden is possessed of such delicacy, and such heartache. Hers is an oblong face, fairly-complected, with a long, straight nose and full lips as dark as her hair. Yet, for all her loveliness, she has a fearful way about her -- the intricate kohl patterns drawn around her deep-set eyes do little to disguise the wounded look in them. She has a habit of trailing her fingers up and down the Shamibelian slave brand on her left arm, or of brushing those delicate fingers across her neck.

Surviving Ellish

Asenka is among the lucky few Ticanee who survived the Firan recapturing of Ellish. How well she'll survive the city of Anarinuell remains to be seen.

Living in the Old City

When Asenka arrived in Anarinuell she settled in the Old City in the hopes of not being bothered. Yet her place of residence seems to cause her more problems as mention of it inevitably causes sour looks and more questions from those she interacts with.

• Alexa Wolfhawke. Alexa found Asenka on the walls after the battle of Ellish. While Asenka doesn't know her name, she remembers her face and knows she owes her freedom to this woman.

• Sabria. Sabria found Asenka on the walls after the battle of Ellish and, once Asenka made her way to Anarinuell, Sabria also showed her around the Ticanee district.

• Tahkota Leafchaser. Tasked with training Asenka to be a 'proper Ticanee,' Tahkota was Asenka's first real contact among the Ticanee in Anarinuell.

• Witani Leafchaser. Asenka enjoys this woman's company and often tags along after her in the Ticanee District.

Miscellany

Habits

((The Eyes Have It.)) It is rare to find Asenka without palla or byrrus to conceal her, with the latter usually wrapped about her face to leave only her eyes visible. Despite this overzealous approach to modesty, her eyes are always heavily made up, lined with kohl that extends into intricate designs on her skin.

((The Slave Brand.)) Even when it's covered, Asenka frequently touches along the brand on her left forearm — most often when she's feeling uncomfortable with her surroundings.

((Curious Company.)) Asenka collects all sorts of strange items and is rarely found without some creepy crawly pet somewhere about her person.
