Overview
It was a sad day that saw the announcement of Lady Bashona Istabannos' death. The noblewoman of the Cockatrice Clan, younger sister to Lady Proxy Ibania and Lord Banik, had been born on October 24 of the year 3 A.U. She was renowned for her unusual beauty, truly a delicate flower of fragile appearance with a none too robust health. Her demeanor was shy and friendly, in a very refreshing manner. Regardless of her shyness, she was quick to assume responsibilities when needed and capably served as Proxy for her father Clan Leader Bannos when he departed for Vreland along with the other Heroes.
Though her life was a short one, her love life proved to be interesting and rather complicated. Wed to Lord Aldrikos Ista Aldrik, he went off shortly after the wedding and was eventually presumed dead. A son was the result of this marriage, Rikon, born in 19 A.U. Lady Bashona then moved on to marry Prince Sadin Elianik, bearing his son Adan in 21 A.U. By that time Lord Aldrikos had rather surprisingly returned from Vreland, and priests declared the marriage to Prince Sadin annulled. After Lady Bashona divorced Lord Aldrikos she did not re-marry Prince Sadin however. Her next marriage was not to be until Lord Trikon Ista Barun managed to purchase a Spring Festival Marriage Prize off a pentathlon Winner in Spring 23 A.U., choosing Lady Bashona as his somewhat unwilling wife, if one believes the rumors. The Cockatrice Clan was joyous to see their Lady married again. In early 24 A.U. Lady Bashona and her two sons Rikon and Adan disappeared without a trace, shortly before the Shamibelian Air Raid began, a time of turmoil. Investigations that were aided by Lord Proxy Sabinus Rissik finally determined the cause of their disappearance. In October of 24 A.U. the Chimeran Lord announced that the convicted Drikkist Mer Sayam Kirdik had boasted of how he had kidnapped them, sacrificing their hearts to lend further strength to the dark God and his Shamibelian forces.
With the reappearance of Rikon and Adan in Anarinuell, though, doubts must be had about the conclusion of the investigation. If the children were spared, was Bashona also? Is she still alive, but missing? Rumors abound, but none are confirmed.
Early History
Bashona was raised by her parents Bannos and Shara at the Istabannos Estate in Anarinuell, despite the close proximity of the Cockatrice clan's capital in Sarkaran. Her siblings Ibania and Banik were both older than she, and the third daughter of the clan leader was notoriously shy when she was young. She was rather petite and fragile, often having light illnesses and generally not being the healthiest of children. She was very bright and studious, and had an innate knack for healing, fashion, languages and the arts. She was also -terribly- clumsy and often tripped, dropped things, banged into people or otherwise caused unintentional property damage.
She met Lord Aldrikos Ista Aldrik when he was serving as a guard in the Forum. The two formed a fast friendship that blossomed into courtship quite readily, though it was not a hurried one. Some would say he was her first love; others would say they were not particularly well-suited, for despite her innocence and generally sweet nature, Bashona was very intelligent and serious, and Lord Aldrikos was...well. Aldrikos.
Despite a rumored flirtation with Lord Quentino Firgalik, Bashona and Aldrikos married in 19 A.U. The young lady was at that time a proxy for her father, Clan Leader Bannos, and had been rumored to travel extensively within the Republic on various errands for her father, including to the Oracle near Agadin, Caldera City, and possibly even the far reaches of the Republic lands near the ruins of Firalut.
After Lord Aldrikos' seeming death and Bannos' departure for Vreland, Bashona lived as a widow and ruling proxy for her father. At that time, her sister Ibania was married to Clan Leader Nydiam of the Eagle clan and her brother Banik was a statue; Bashona was virtually alone in her home, except for her young son Rikon. After a time, she married Prince Sadin and the entire family moved to the Cockatrice Royal Palace in Sarkaran, not far from the Festival Grounds. During this time, Prince Sadin and his daughter from his first marriage, Tia, lived with Bashona and Rikon in the palace.
Bashona, sitting as ruling proxy for the Cockatrice Clan, was responsible for various negotiations and administrative issues. However, when her sister Ibania was placed under 'house arrest' by her husband Nydiam, the sisters concocted a way to free the lady. Bashona and Ibania met at the baths, the one place Ibania was allowed to visit freely, and Bashona simply slipped the Cockatrice Clan Medallion over her sister's neck. Ibania's Eagle guards, unable to raise hand against a royal wearing a clan medallion, were forced to let her return to Sarkaran with her sister. Ibania then ruled for a time as proxy, though Bashona was quite active as an adviser for her sister.
Recent History
Bashona vanished during the Air Raids of 24 AU, along with her sons. Rikon and Adan returned to Anarinuell as boys on the verge of adulthood, having been rescued from occupied territory. Though it was believed at the time that Bashona died in the air raids, it was apparent that she did not die in Anarinuell as previously thought. Her current whereabouts or even if she lives or has died are unknown.
Personality & Beliefs
Bashona was a very quiet, solemn sort of individual. Gentle by nature, she was devoted to Lord Unot and was an extremely talented healer and teacher. She was shy and did not like large crowds or parties, preferring small gatherings of family and friends. Despite this, she was known to be brave and relatively collected under pressure. She supported traditional beliefs, but was very moderate in terms of the laws and such that she set while sitting as her father's proxy.
