The Firans are a clean people in general, and as such, the public baths are always open. Men and women of different castes and cultures flock to the bath house at all hours of the day and night, to get fresh and clean, and sometimes just to socialize!

The bath house is the perfect place for women to gather and gossip about the goings on of the city while their children laugh and play in the water. And who knows who one might meet while bathing - commoner women look forward to being able to meet with a noblewoman face to face, and the baths are a perfect opportunity for just that. Many a contact has been made in the baths - for what better time to approach one's social betters than while they are in the midst of deep relaxation? Children generally attend the baths with their mother or nanny but they are permitted on either side without recourse. Once they have their ceremony, of course, most tend to stay on the side of their sex.

In addition to the gossip sessions that often occur on the women's side of the baths, the men's bath house is likewise filled with conversation and mirth. The bath house is one of the places where a man can truly be a man, without the worry of their wives or other women overhearing (well, besides the towel girls, of course - but those women are certainly within a class all their own). They even have a bit of special "relaxation" to do of their own, but this takes place behind enclosed spaces in case of children. Noble men and common ones both engage in discussion and as with the women's side, the baths tend to be a slightly equalizing place.

Though not all Firans are able to afford to bathe on a regular basis, visits to the bath house are a staple in popular Firan society. The bath house is a place of relaxation, where people can kick back after a long, hard day - a place for lounging and enjoying the company of other members of your sex.
