The first deployment of Anarinuell's soldiers headed out to Ellish to begin the process of first holding the city against the Shamibelians, and second acclimatising those former slaves who have not known Firan influence for over thirty years back into their newfound freedom. The army was set upon by a Shamibelian air raid, reminding all of us just how close they still are and how dangerous the city, even while under Firan control, still is. Mes Rally Nosharik, from the fifth division, was reported to have been one of the first to leap on the back of one of our air force's griffons to shoot down the enemy.

Other notable Bears serving in Ellish were Bear proxy, Lady Laurelia, whose studied talent for negotiation and language saw her serving the Republic diplomatic corps well, and Lord Talikos Teranzik deployed as an assistant to Priest Nimizo from the temple of Kamnestra, and still remained even after the priest was recalled.

In the spirit of diplomatic relations, the rough sport of tackleball, created by the Griffons and therefore perhaps wholly appropriate, has been introduced with limited success to the citizens of Ellish, in an attempt to help integrate our cultures.

A number of those who served in Ellish are reporting a severe illness apparently caused by the bites of dogs, which causes worrying madness and paranoia and has affected several of our senior officers. Any who have come into contact with the animals (who have now been killed) in Ellish are ordered to remain quarantined in the Chimera Clan clinic.

Further unconfirmed reports state that the Firan forces in Ellish saw and fought at least one legendary carnotti, the beast made famous for its astounding speed and agility as well as its penchant for munching both people and metal. The carnotti is said to have been defeated but no further information has yet been made available.

Closer to home, on her return to the city from Ellish, Mes Odoni gave birth to a daughter, Mes Leoni Istanar. The birth was a difficult one and both Mes Odoni and the baby were close to death. Both of them are currently recovering slowly, although the child is expected to remain somewhat sickly, as is common with such difficult births.

Mes Rayna, growing plumper by the day, is no doubt more anxious about her upcoming birthing, and has been seen, while she's not serving tea and doing hair for Acting Queen Katriana's parties, asking around the temples of Eesha and Soli for advice and comfort.

Lady Aria and Mes Olicia have been working on baking cakes to send to the orphans, although Mes Olicia doesn't seem herself lately. She has been suffering from erratic mood swings and her mind is constantly to be found on other things. She's a little old for puberty; could it be pregnancy?

Finally, Lady Rianna Teranzik has transferred from the fighting force of the second division to the more investigative forces of the first. Rumour has it that she is settling into her first case with diligence and enthusiasm.

Endeera's Words of Wisdom

A hero need not necessarily be braver than anyone else. He or she has only to be brave for longer.

OOC News

I'm back, yes, thank you, and yes I did have a wonderful time away on my holidays! I even got a tan, so there's proof that Scots aren't all pasty white all the time, ha! I'm now a sort of pale grey.

Ellish foo will be resuming again soon. After a fairly intensive week of GMing missions from the wizards, they're stopping for a completely deserved break for a couple of days before launching back into it for the next deployment.

People using the Uffian bird messenger service are reminded that it's possible to send a reply by the same bird provided that reply is sent within fifteen minutes of receiving the initial message.
