BENESH AURIK

The circumstances surrounding Benesh Aurik's death are still controversial. He was found in one of his fields, stone-cold dead (in August of 18 A.U.) and clutching a half-eaten spinach pie in one hand. The Auriks claim he was poisoned by the Istariniads, even though witnesses pointed out that Benesh had been seen picking up several pies at the market during the same time period a woman named Keniana picked up some spinach pies which turned out to be poisoned and, ultimately, caused her to go blind. The Istariniads, in turn, insist that Benesh simply dropped dead of some ailment and the pie was probably planted on him, since by the time he was found several days later surely any animal would have made off with any food he had on him. At one point, Elikos Istariniad was to stand trial for the crime as evidence was found pointing to him, but the charges were later dropped due to lack of solid evidence.
