Official Statement

I shouldn't have to take this abuse, but if giving a statement will shut everyone up and let us get back to drinking and enjoying our slave girls, then so be it. My name is Charioteer Bivin Tibenya, Son of Dhralan. Governor Hralib is married to my mother, Vitara Pevifa Tibenya. Or at least, he was married to her until he turned up dead this morning. But I had nothing to do with it. I moved out of my mother's basement and onto my sister Tabitha's land months ago. Are we seriously doubting that Hralib's own slaves did him in? If so, then maybe we ought to cast suspicious eyes on Scithvor. After all, the only reason he's here is because he can't go back to Ellish after that raiding "accident" when he tied my father up, and let him freeze to death. That's eerily similar to the way Governor Hralib died, isn't it?

Background

Bivin has to drown his pain sometimes, because he's had a hard life. First, his father was "accidentally" killed in a raid back in Ellish, leaving him to be the man of the house with his mother and his sisters. At least, he was the man of the house until Hralib came along and married his mother. That's when everything went to hell.

As a step-father, Hralib was a demanding asshole. He bullied Bivin and made him do actual work. Worse, Bivin's older sister, Fara, took a liking to their step-father that caused a rift in the family. Bivin's mother got very jealous of the attention that Hralib was paying to her daughter, and so when it came time for Fara to be given land, Pevifa refused.

Under Shamibelian law, this meant that Fara was doomed to become a slave. Bivin was very upset by this, so the minute his little sister Tabitha got her own land, he moved out with her.

It's his sisters and him against the world.

• Fara -- Bivin's older sister. He feels very bad for her that she ended up in slavery.

Goals

1. Bivin should mock other Shamibelians for their wimpy weapons--he's a charioteer and he uses a javelin. Best weapon ever.
2. Bivin should keep Tabitha from getting married--he likes living on her land and isn't about to submit to the will of her husband.
3. Bivin should call Feathyr "Scooby" a lot, and make her do pet tricks.
4. Bivin should sell some red cap juice to Caree for profit.
5. Help get Fara out of slavery.
6. Deflect blame for the murders away from your family.
7. Bivin should make sure Renik is ready to win the gladiator fights.
8. Bivin should put money on Renik.
9. Make a Firan slave drink from Bivin's skull cup. Maybe pretend it was from someone important to them.

Timeline

• 10:00PM Bivin celebrates the Night of Obala's Pride with a cup of red cap juice mixed in his wine
• 10:30PM Tabitha said that Bivin looked stupid in his griffon mask, so he traded with one of his slaves
• 11:00PM Bivin starts to black out a bit. There are holes in his memory.
• 12:00AM Renik helps Bivin stumble home, stoned.

Bivin Round One

Round One Reveal

Bivin and Hralib were actually getting along better recently because Hralib agreed to try to get Bivin's sister Fara out of slavery.

When Scithvor accidentally killed someone during a raid in Ellish, it was because he tied them up and left them out in the cold where they froze to death. Eerily similar to Hralib's end, isn't it?

Hralib wanted to marry Bivin's sister, Tabitha, to one of his old friends, but she got it in her head that she was of the new 'liberal' generation, and was in love with Lainath Samiroon, who through a convoluted set of legal maneuvers, is a Shamibelian Warrior with some Firan blood. Hralib said that he'd let her marry Lainath "over my dead body." Seems like he got his wish.

Everybody knows that Ruffialo and Hralib got into a spicy food eating contest during the Night of Obala's Pride. Hralib conceded, saying, "Someday, this stuff is going to kill me." Maybe it did!

Round One Conceal

Bivin blamed Hralib for the rift in his family life, and for his sister Fara ending up a slave.

Hralib was trying to set Tabitha up in a marriage with Malentez, and Bivin wasn't happy about it. If Tabitha gets married, Bivin's going to get kicked out, and raiding is a lot of work!

Bivin has been growing red cap juice as a cash crop and selling it to the Free Firan Cities even though it has been outlawed by Tatomir.

Bivin was drugged out of his mind on red cap juice the night of the murders, and can't remember a thing.

When Bivin drinks red cap juice, he sometimes gets wildly violent. He worries that he killed Hralib and has blacked it out in a drug induced haze.

Bivin knows that the pair of earrings in Hralib's pocket were worn by Tabitha on the Night of Obala's Pride.

Bivin's mother, Pevifa feels extremely spiteful towards her daughter Fara, and knew that Hralib was advocating on Fara's behalf. She might have killed him for it.

Quite frankly, Bivin is convinced that if he didn't kill Hralib, either his mother or one of his sisters did. He needs to protect them if he can.

Bivin knows that Fara intended to get pregnant by a full-blooded Shamibelian male, because if she gave birth to a pure-blooded son, it would strengthen her claim to freedom.

Bivin knows that Fissia brought that stupid dog Spike to the Night of Obala's Pride and it attacked his sister, Fara.

Hralib never approved of the fact that Hashi's main way of making money was renting out his slavegirls at the brothel. Hralib always thought Hashi should do more raiding and land clearing. The tension between father and son could have caused a fatal confrontation.

Malentez had been training lately with his sword, and Hralib was always better with his mind than weapons, so Malentez could have killed him.

On the other hand, Malentez was never known for subtlety. If he wanted to kill Hralib, wouldn't he have done it with his sword? And yet, Hralib didn't seem to have any stab wounds.

Round Two Conceal

Someone has been stealing red cap juice from Bivin's secret stash. He suspects it was Hralib--that bastard deserved to die.

Bivin concocted a plan to sleep with Fara the Night of Obala's Pride, in masks--but it never happened. He is curious as to why she never came to him that night, as part of the plan. Sure, she's his sister, but whatever he can do to get her out of slavery, he'll do!

This morning, Fara confided in Bivin. She told him that late last night, Throgana had come to fetch her. Throgana was hysterical, and told Fara that there was something wrong with Hralib. The two of them found Hralib in the Great Library, but he was already dead and some of his things were missing, including the prized Skull-of-Taleo cup.

Hralib was a holder of some of Bivin's secrets, and that Hralib kept his secrets hidden in a box he buried beneath the Great Marble Arch in the Temple District. Bivin's kind of worried about what happened to that box now.

Bivin "accidentally" told one of Hralib's secrets--which wife he preferred--and that he has refused to get himself leeched for forgiveness. And why should he? Hralib told him that he actually preferred Nobifa over Bivin's own mother. That's enough to send any loyal son into a murderous rage on behalf of his mother's honor.

2. Stop a slave and demand to see all their permits for fun.
3. See about getting a new shot at some "private time" with Fara. For her benefit. Really. Maybe try and get a fertility potion for her first.

Bivin couldn't have killed Hralib; he was drugged and in a stupor nowhere near where the murder took place.

And hey; Feathyr's been running around carrying messages all day. Might she know something?
