Official Statement
I'm Father Brizo, servant of Hralib by day, and Kamnestra by night. Like Perdita always says, there's no sense in killing your own master here, because we all know they'll just execute all his slaves. So I didn't put any poison into the wine he ordered. If you ask me, it was one of the princes that did it--probably Prince Lucas, on account of the guilt some say he harbors for losing Anarinuell to the goats. He probably thought it was best to strike out at their leader and plans to lead us to freedom, so all we need is for him to own up to it and tell us the plan.
Background
Since becoming a slave, life hasn't been easy for Brizo. A man devoted to Kamnestra, he is no longer allowed to worship in his Goddess's temple and has had to see how the Shamibelians plan to destroy the whole district to turn it into one of their mansions. Much worse however is the fact that the Shamibelians have made it impossible for him to carry out his primary passion in life: taking care of the orphans per Kamnestra's wishes. Those who haven't been sacrificed have been turned into slaves and are taught day in day out about the great Obala, or Drik. And what is a jolly old big man to do? Nothing, other than resign himself to his fate and serve his Shamibelian masters well as a brewery slave, consoling himself with drink, brewing and selling his vintage to the Shamibelian army. Yes, for over a year now he has been living a life of perfect obedience lest the Shamibelians kill more children out of revenge.
Or perhaps not so obedient after all? For some reason, Brizo got badly injured during the Night of Obala's pride. What could he possibly have been up to?
And of couse, as one of Hralib's slaves . . . he is to be executed by the end of the night if Hralib's murderer cannot be found. All of Hralib's slaves will be killed . . . including the children. Brizo won't stand for that.
Relationships
- Perdita -- A crazy Ticanee who was also a slave of Hralib's--hopefully she didn't do something stupid and condemn them all to die.
- Orsatos -- Another slave of Hralib's. Brizo is pretty sure Orsatos is collaborating with the Shamibelians.
- Emma -- Another slave of Hralib's, who was falling under Hralib's sway.
- Jalil -- Another slave of Hralib's, and a former Clan Leader, who hated being alive, but couldn't commit suicide. He might have thought execution was a better way out.
- Melani -- Another slave of Hralib's who had reason to kill him.
- Teonia -- Another slave of Hralib's, and a former Princess. Hralib publicly violated her, and made her breed with Rodiste to make 'docile' slave babies for their new master.
- Rodiste -- Another slave of Hralib's whom Brizo has been trying to help. Rodiste has become obsessed with protecting the bastard baby he was forced to beget upon Teonia.
- Pevifa -- Hralib's first wife, a very jealous woman.
- Nobifa -- Hralib's second wife, and Brizo's mistress.
- Yvette -- This woman is the slave of Hralib's son, Hashi. She hates Brizo intensely.
Goals
- Brizo should find out who killed Hralib and Throgana so that he's not executed with the rest of Hralib's slaves.
- Brizo should meet with Hralib's other slaves and come up with a plan of action.
- Brizo should find a way of smuggling children out of Anarinuell.
- Brizo should sneak cute girl slaves without permits from place to place beneath his robes.
- Brizo should get Zaridos's help in protecting Ania's children.
- Brizo should sell some wine.
- Brizo needs to find a better hiding spot for his charges, now that the Temple District is going to be scoured for clues.
- Brizo should suck up to Mistress Nobifa, and serve her every need. If Hralib's wife is on your side, it might help save everyone from execution.

Brizo Round One
Round One Reveal
Everyone knows that Inaya has become one of the most fervent adherents of Obala--why would she murder a Shamibelian master, considering that the Shamibelians are Obala's "Chosen People"?
Hralib gave the Ranivor's medallion to his loyal slave Throgana, to wear as a pretty piece of jewelry. Wouldn't any one of the Elianik Princes like Lucas, Zaridos, Savaren or even Torianos kill to get it?
Everyone knows that Torianos hated Hralib more than all the other Shamibelians, because the Governor of Anarinuell separated him from his wife Melani by selling him to another master. He may have hoped that by killing Hralib, Melani would be bought by his own master so they could be reunited.
Hralib's wife, Vitara Pevifa, was nagging Hralib to clear the Temple of Zin for her and make it habitable, because she had chosen it to be her personal bath house. Maybe she got sick of waiting--you know how wives can be.
Hralib's other wife, Vitara Nobifa, made a very public showing of her upset that she hadn't yet gotten pregnant by Hralib, and she blamed his attentions on Throgana for it. Maybe these murders were a domestic situation . . .
Perdita has been known to literally talk to Hralib's Skull-of-Taria cup. Perdita clearly has a few screws loose, and may be capable of murdering Hralib and condemning herself and all his slaves to death.
Brizo knows that the real reason Inaya's tunica was covered in blood is because he bled all over her when she was bandaging him up last night. She dragged him all the way back to Vitara Nobifa's plantation (formerly Kamnestra Hall), where Brizo has been staying.
Not to be ungrateful--if Inaya hadn't found him laying there, he'd have bled to death. But what exactly was Inaya doing in the Temple District in the wee hours of the morning? She's not one of Hralib's slaves and she was looking mighty suspicious.
Round One Conceal
Brizo sucked up to Hralib on a regular basis, and always gave him excellent wine and ale. Some of the other slaves probably think Brizo was collaborating with the Shamibelians, but it was all an act. The more Hralib trusted him, the more freedom Brizo had to engage in his true calling.
Brizo has permits to roam outside the city walls to deliver wine and mead to the Shamibelian army, and he uses his freedom as a brewery slave to smuggle children out of Anarinuell in his wine barrels.
One of the only clan leaders to escape the invasion was Clan Leader Ania of the Eagles. Along with Clan Leader Ojitar, she is now running what remains of the Free Firan Republic. Unfortunately, her children got caught behind enemy lines.
Brizo has been hiding Ania's children so that the Shamibelians cannot use them as leverage against the Free Firan Republic. Brizo would rather die, or kill, than let Clan Leader Ania's children fall into enemy hands.
Brizo has been hiding Ania's children in a secret chamber of the Temple of Kamnestra, but when Hralib starated clearing it out for Pevifa, they had to be moved quickly, before Hralib or any of the other Shamibelians found out about it.
Brizo was very worried that Hralib was on to him--if that had been the case, Brizo would have had no choice but to take matters into his own hands, and kill the goat.
Brizo delivered several bottles of his finest to Hralib, on the Night of Obala's Pride.
Brizo was in the Temple District on the Night of Obala's Pride--the very location where Hralib's dead body was found in the morning.
Brizo did get into a deadly struggle with someone last night involving a knife, and he'd rather not say who. But Hralib wasn't stabbed to death, so surely that doesn't incriminate him, does it?
Round One Props
- Some Bottles of Wine to sell
- A bandage for your gaping belly wound (put it on)
- Travel and Vintner Permits
Brizo Round Two
Round Two Reveal
Brizo knows that Rodiste was desperate to smuggle his infant son out of Anarinuell. If Hralib had found out what Rodiste was up to, he'd have killed the child, and Rodiste would definitely risk murdering his master to protect the baby.
This morning, Brizo was late for a meeting with Rodiste at the slave temple. Brizo didn't want any of the Shamibelians to see him, so he crept discretely. When he was a ways off from the slave temple, he saw Rodiste had blood on his hands.
Brizo knows that Rodiste went to the Slave Temple the morning that Throgana died, and since it was the morning after the festivities, he could have run into her alone.
Brizo knows that Zaridos was also in the Slave Temple early that morning, before Throgana's dead body was found there.
Brizo met with Yvette last night, behind the Temple of Kamnestra. While they were talking, they both saw Ruffialo and Sarina slip into Srenna's Temple. Sarina is no longer Hralib's slave, and what on earth would a Shamibelian master like Ruffialo be doing trespassing on land that Hralib was clearing for his wife. Was it a raid?
Yvette snuck off from the Night of Obala's Pride to go to the Temple District where Hralib's body was later found. She was also dangerously unhinged last night, and easily capable of murder.
Brizo went in and out of consciousness as he lay bleeding behind the Temple of Kamnestra, and he saw a lot of strange things. At about two or three in the morning, Brizo saw Throgana and a Shamibelian woman, sneaking through the dark in the Temple District with a shovel. He was too weak to call out to them, so he just watched as they buried something together. It was the last time he saw Throgana alive.
When next Brizo awakened, he saw Empyrean, Aldrin, and Torianos. He tried to call for help, but was too weak. He saw them go into Unot's Temple. What were they doing there? If Hralib had come upon them there, a deadly struggle would have ensued, so Brizo wouldn't be shocked if they killed him.
A little later, when Brizo again regained consciousness, he witnessed Hralib's second wife Nobifa and a Shamibelian warrior named Malentez in the Temple of Zin. It looked to him like Nobifa was watching Malentez bathe in the icy cold water. No Shamibelian male is allowed to be alone with another one's wife without expecting deadly consequences . . .
Besides, what on earth would Vitara Nobifa be doing on land that was being cleared for Hralib's other wife, Vitara Pevifa?
The water in the Temple of Zin's reflecting pool was grey and polluted this morning. Brizo remembers that Vitara Nobifa once suggested poisoning the pool in case the Firans tried to worship there again.
Round Two Conceal
Brizo was worried that Hralib was on to his 'children's underground railroad scheme' and he didn't want to risk Ania's children getting caught. That is why he decided to smuggle Yvette's children out first, as a test-run to make sure that his contact at the border wasn't really working with the Shamibelians.
Brizo left his latest wine barrels (containing Yvette's children) and hurried back for the Night of Obala's Pride. He hoped they would get out safely, but he received a message from his contact saying that "Two rats were found in your barrels, and killed--Hralib may no longer trust your vintage."
Yvette met Brizo in the Temple District, and he had to break to her the sad news that her children had been caught and killed.
She became so hysterical that she took a knife, and stabbed Brizo in the stomach, leaving him for dead.
Whilst Brizo was laying there, in and out of consciousness, he heard and saw a lot of people sneak into the old Firan temples.
Round Two Props
Round Two Additional Goals
- Meet up with leaders of the resistance to find out if there's a plan
Brizo Round Three
Round Three Reveal
Something reminds Brizo--Czar keeps a pet poisonous snake, and Brizo noticed earlier that it was out of its cage. What's that about?
When Inaya was dragging Brizo to safety, they both tripped over Hralib's dead body. Brizo couldn't have killed Hralib, because the first time he saw him that night he was already dead.
Hralib's body was laying there under the Great Marble Arch, tied up in an old rug. He and the rug were soaking wet, and he was already dead. So Hralib definitely didn't freeze to death.
When Brizo went to the slave temple this morning, for his meeting with Rodiste, he saw Zaridos come running out. Rodiste followed. Brizo called after him, but Rodiste seemed to be in quite a hurry. When Brizo went in, he saw Throgana was laying dead.
