Overview
Elegant and graceful, the High Priestess of Eesha does not take easily to work of a physical nature. As a crafter of any skill, she is a disaster, and cannot cook. She sews to steady her mind, but a project will take her a while, so much do her thoughts flit about to this and that, meditating at all and odd hours of the day. She has a keen sense with numbers and paperwork, having learned to read and write at an unusually young age.
Chelona is warm-hearted and kind, and likes people and helping them, offering her services as a counselor to all without bias. She has a sense of fun as well, and adventure, and when her duties allow, can be found paddling in the river or playing cards, laughing with friends and making new ones. If there is one thing that Chelona hates, it's to be bored - and so she is always keeping busy, either with the temple or with the management of her Inn or her shop, running the household, making matches for the clan or arranging entertainments. She especially likes hearing about people's lives and trying to help wherever she can. She's always trying to find reasons for the things people do, and tries to analyze them.
What defines Chelona though is her devotion to Lady Eesha. She tries in every way to embody what a good Eeshan should, being just and fair in her opinions, honest and forthright with her words, and to offer forgiveness and love when the opportunity presents itself. Sadness comes when people close their hearts to the Lady, and she works with them to try to help them overcome this.
Description
Amazingly beautiful in a way that catches everyone's attention, Chelona is any man's dream come true. She carries herself with an unmistakable air of grace and propriety that there is no question she is of noble blood. When she smiles, a small dimple forms on each cheek, and her pale blue eyes shine brightly. Her hair is of particular beauty, soft as silk, yet thick and glossy.
Early History
Chelona and her siblings came to Anarinuell on the insistence of her older brother, Simonik, when they were quite young, barely adults. She spent time perfuming to make money, entering the Temple of Eesha as a young Priestess, and earning the respect of her clan. Which can be hard to do when you are obviously the child of Lord Simon Didoron. It wouldn't do at all to have people think the Dranieez children were trying to prevail upon the Didorons, and although Lord Simon was wed to her mother, making Chelona a legitimate child, she has always been respectful and kind, and has even made friends and become close to some of her Didoron cousins. Her first husband, Ely Jaffus, was killed in an unfortunate accident, and never met her first child - his, Uellisha. Uellisha was stillborn - but Lady Eesha took pity on her Priestess and breathed life back into the child. Chelona's heart was Eesha's before, but this personal attention caused Chelona to focus her attentions fully on the Temple, leaving perfuming and such behind - she was determined to serve Eesha with her whole heart, her whole mind, and her whole soul from that point on. She gave birth to three other children, and adopted three, with her second husband, Mikki, also a Jaffus.
Recent History
Chelona rose to the position of the High Priestess of Eesha, having been chosen by the Goddess and a sign bound upon her hand. She is currently the head of the temple, and most of her work revolves around it - counseling, teaching, guiding. She is working on prayer techniques to try to focus her spiritual energy to try to help others focus theirs while they worship.
Recently she went to the Oracle to try to obtain wisdom to bring Eesha back to her temple and find out what might be troubling the gods in the mortal realm, but her mission was unsuccessful: the Oracles would not answer the High Priestess. She is working desperately to bring Eesha back, and spends long hours in meditation and prayer, hosting ceremonies and services, teaching lessons on the law, and on the need for prayer and thanksgiving.

Accomplishments & Successes
- High Priestess of the Temple of Eesha: The nearest and dearest thing to her heart, Chelona loves her temple. To serve it as the High Priestess is the greatest honor indeed for Mother Chelona.
- Ministerial position within the clan: Always better to be busy than bored, Chelona is pleased to be a minister and matchmaker for her clan.
- Ownership of a manor and barn, a shop, an inn: Coming from nothing, Chelona's family built up their reputation and their finances until they were able to have a firm footing in the financial landscape, aided and abetted by Chelona's phenomenal skill with numbers.
- Saving lives: In the outbreak of T'rages, Chelona was assisting to clean the bathhouse when most everyone in it was struck ill. She helped to save the lives of several, and proved the quality of her blood.
Scandals & Failures
- Didoron or not?: This question plagued Chelona and her siblings on their arrival to Anarinuell. They were nearly ennobled and entered into the Didoron family, but for a variety of reasons - many not having to do with them at all - this didn't come to pass. Her Didoron blood was proven in the outbreak of T'rages, when she healed several people.
- Rape and the Clan Council: Vibius, a crazy Gold Dragon, raped Chelona in the Temple of Eesha. At the next Clan Council meeting, Chelona sat by while she was discussed like she wasn't even there until Her Honor Fidelia lost her temper and called Lord Cortik out for saying, basically, who cares about a lying pagan. Chelona was mortified, and wished she could disappear when Her Honor Fidelia named Chelona as the one who was violated.
Enemies
- Lord Cortik Junik: This is possibly the man Chelona cares the least for. See above for explanation!
Allies
- Lord Aeryk IstaNydiam: This royal of her clan is a studious young Lord who Chelona admires for his sense of dedication to what he believes in. She considers him an ally, and would ask him for a favor if needed. Sometimes she plots ways to try to cheer him, and make him loosen up a bit and enjoy things more.
- Sister Iona Fengan: This Uffian Priestess is as dedicated to the art of prayer as Chelona herself. The two have long, esoteric discussions which thrill Chelona, and she enjoys the company of this dreamy woman.
- Sister Jahala Dranieez: Almost more of a sister or a daughter than a sister-in-law, Jahala is someone Chelona loves deeply, and respects. The woman is a whiz at law, as a lawyer priestess, and Chelona will go to her for legal advice.
- Lord Brother Judanarius Corinala: A close friend, a close protector, Chelona admires her Lord Brother immensely. Their relationship is spiritual, linked in their goddess and their beliefs, and they can have discussions on matters ranging from the mundane to the spiritual. Their relationship tends to be more serious-minded.
- Lord Father Marsalos Iberik: Another close friend, Lord Father Marsalos is a man Chelona believes in. She feels he sometimes needs to believe in himself more, and she tries to bolster his opinions. Of course, sometimes she feels he's a little too full of himself, but far be it from her to try to take him down a peg! He is one to have fun with, play poker, and laugh.
- Initiate Zellonos Karik: This young initiate is a man Chelona met when she helped marry him to his wife, and they grew close through common thoughts and common ideas. She has taken him under her wing, guiding him into Eesha's service, and likes him to be near her, learning, and talking. Zellonos though? Is too serious. He needs to loosen up!
Habits
- Chelona has rings she always wears: her Eesha's Strength Silver Ring and her Ring of Love. These are never taken off, and she twists them when nervous or in need of comforting.
- Chelona is known to be very fair minded, but has a quick temper if someone calls her a liar or calls her honor into question. She will apologize readily however when she realizes she's been unfair.
- Chelona loves gifts. Giving and receiving - she likes how a gift can brighten someone's day and connect people.
Likes
- Roses. These are her favorite flower, bar none.
- Lovage. Not for the reasons you might think! Lovage tea makes her feel closer to Eesha, and she loves that feeling.
- Masquerades. A time and a place for everything, my friends.
- Religious debate. Nothing reels in the attention quite like a good discussion on topics of the gods.
- Poker. Friends and relaxation. Good times!
- Wine. Goes really, really well with poker.
- Rivers. Chelona has lots of reasons to like the river.
Dislikes
- Dogs. They are drooly and smelly and make a mess of the temple. They're all right, but Chelona won't play with them.
- Lying. Eeshan, so this stands to reason.
- Gold Dragon men. She has had bad luck with two of these now, and is generally apprehensive around them. She does not /dislike/ them so much as regards them suspiciously at first.
Miscellaneous
Chelona's favorite poem! (it represents Eeshan beliefs so well...)
At a Window
Give me hunger,
O you gods that sit and give
The world its orders.
Give me hunger, pain and want,
Shut me out with shame and failure
From your doors of gold and fame,
Give me your shabbiest, weariest hunger!
But leave me a little love,
A voice to speak to me in the day end,
A hand to touch me in the dark room
Breaking the long loneliness.
In the dusk of day-shapes
Blurring the sunset,
One little wandering, western star
Thrust out from the changing shores of shadow.
Let me go to the window,
Watch there the day-shapes of dusk
And wait and know the coming
Of a little love.
