Chimera

The chimera, which is an animal (not the Chimera Clan), is a mythical beast, one of the beasts unleashed by Firanos at the birth of Uf. It has three heads, hoofed back feet, wings, and giant clawed lion's feet. The chimera likes to feast on flesh and sometimes roamed over territories as large as 20 square miles eating all the way. Firanos was able to capture the chimera by cloaking its heads in fog so that it could not see him, and throwing a gigantic net over it. Firanos then dragged the snarling creature to a dungeon under the holy meeting place of the Gods. It is said that as the chimera was being dragged by Firanos, the scraping of the net on the ground created the foothills that extend into the land of the Gold Dragon Clan. Zutiv, who admired the beast, was not pleased by its capture. However, as with the other beasts Firanos released, it would not stay captured forever.

Interactions

Years ago, it decided to pay a visit to Anarinuell. It naturally lit in the Chimera district and there was considerable wrestling among people who wanted to subdue, defeat or kill the immortal beast. Eventually, the beast came to a certain rapport with Lady Yasha Rissik, one of the clan's most respected proxies at the time, long before the Antonian Apostasy.

The Chimera was running around eating horses and being none to careful with people, either. Lord Leonus Teranzik and Lord Xegolus Teranzik were at the front of those attempting to keep the public away from the dangerous immortal beast. Eventually, defending the lives of others, Lord Xegolus was slain. Lord Leonus challenged the Chimera directly and was cut down. But the Chimera is a best with three heads, each with a distinct personality. Where the dragon and the lion are aggressive predators, the goat is wise and sympathetic.

The goat recognized the depth of Xegolus's sacrifice, that he never raised his hand in anger to the Chimera himself, and went over to the fallen nobleman. He leaned his great head down and shed great tears on the broken body. Xegolus was revived...but the Chimera separated into its three constituent animals and each went its separate way.

Three parties were sent out, one after each great immortal animal. One tracked the goat and convinced him to return. One tracked the lion and convinced him to return. The red dragon was easier to track, but more difficult to satisfy. He flew around the city, crashing into stables and eating horses at will while the city scrambled to supply his remorseless hunger. Eventually, he was persuaded to return and recombine with his two fellows, but he demanded to play a game for the recombination (and quite likely the future of the Chimera clan.)

The Red Dragon decided that he would play against Prince Viceroy Sadin Elianik. And he decided he would require Lady Yasha to play his consort in a live action game of strategy, with human (and dragon) playing pieces. Basically, chess, with the dragon as the king directing one side and Sadin as the king directing the other. It was a long and difficult game, but when Sadin got the opportunity to take the dragon's consort, Yasha, it seemed to take the heart out of him; his moves were quicker and less considered, and it was only a matter of time until Sadin won the game.

The details of the return of the lion and goat were less public, but the red dragon's game occurred in the middle in the forum. Shortly thereafter, the pieces of the Chimera were brought together in a ceremony featuring Lady Yasha Rissik, requiring blood from her hands in sacrifice to restore the mythic beast. Finally, the great creature took to the air and left the city behind.
