The Clan of the Chimera is the newest clan in the Firan realms -- it has only been in existence for about 30 years. This clan lacks strong national characteristics, in part, because it was put together from refugees, political dissenters, and adventurers from other clans. To tell the story of the Clan of the Chimera is really to tell the story of Elianos.

When Elianos was 16 years old, he was heir apparent to the throne of the Clan of the Gold Dragon. As Firgalas' oldest, and apparently most favored son, his position was secure. However, Elianos, for reasons unknown, recruited a group of soldiers, adventurers, and pioneer families from all over the Firan Realms and went out into the unknown. Within a year's time, he had forged a new city out of the wilderness and formed a new clan which he named after the Chimera.

Many of the members of the Clan of the Chimera were either part of the group that helped settle with Elianos, their children, or persons Elianos granted asylum to over the years. While living in close enough quarters with Elianos over the years, the clan members of the Chimera realize his humanity, but have a respect for him that borders on worship.

These people tend to be sturdy upstarts and entrepreneurs who needed only an opportunity and/or a second chance in life. Never large in number, the Clan of the Chimera was compelled to maintain the most skilled and powerful fighting force in the Firan Realms. Other armies could defeat them with superior numbers -- but they were going to make sure that the damage they would inflict on any such army would be great enough to deter the attempt. Members of this clan have strong instincts on how to make do with nothing, and adapt to changing situations with grace. They also tend to have strong moral judgments about other people, but generally won't interfere in their lives with anything more than a statement of disapproval.
