Clan Fashions

Hydrans dress and decorate in a very spartan fashion. Bare rooms, very modest dress to the point of being drab, etc. If it's not functional, they don't need it. They're proud of their ability to shed anything useless.

Gold Dragons love to flaunt their wealth. If they can afford it they'll wear it and show it off. The Gold Dragon district should hurt your eyes. They're ostentatious to the point of garishness.

Eagles like pretty things. They're less about showing off and more about beauty, so they use what they think is beautiful -- bright colours, flowers, etc. If they get it wrong, it can be horribly garish; if they get it right, it's stunning. They also tend to be the most concerned with fashion and experimenting with clothing combinations, and probably more accepting of showing some skin than other clans.

Bears are the most tasteful of the clans. They believe in classical elegance -- expensive materials if you can afford them, but restrained. A Bear woman transplanted to RL might wear a Chanel suit. They're concerned with propriety -- hair should be pinned and skin appropriately covered, but think clothing should be flattering, not enveloping.

Chimerans are also very ultilitarian, but in a different way than the Hydras. They're the pioneers and they just don't see the point of fippery, but it's out of pragmatism and not pride. They will dress up for special occasions, but given what a practical people they are, they're more likely to buy a new plow than a set of jewelry. Day-to-day, they're probably fairly unconcerned about cumbersome symbols of rank like togas and pallas, and Chimera women have a more relaxed attitude towards hairpins. They're more worried that their hair be out of the way when they're doing things than what's keeping it there.

Ticanee generally wear the clothing they've been wearing for eons -- leather. It's sturdy, after all, and until four decades ago they made their living entirely from hunting/gathering, not agriculture. They're not opposed to ornamentation, but generally prefer ornamentation with significance, not just for looks or fashion. They generally don't really value silk and gems at all, as they have no practical value, but are simply rare and shiny. Some Ticanee are downright contemptuous of silk and gems, especially Ticanee who wear them. As someone else noted, they also tend to have a very relaxed attitude toward modesty, and don't get what other clans are so uptight about.

Cockatrices are a very traditional and middle-class clan. Likely you're going to see them emphasize wearing all the traditional clothing (a woman should be in stola/palla/hairpins), and they're not going to be concerned about cutting a dash in the latest fashions. However, it'll be important to them that their clothing be good quality.

Griffons are very militaristic and very egalitarian. They're not big believers in fashion either, and they're another clan that tends more toward utiltarian. They need to wear clothes they can fight in, after all. Griffon women wearing tunics, having unpinned hair or hair cut short, or going to parties in a dashing uniform instead of a stola is nothing at all scandalous for them (other clans may think differently). In general, there's going to be much less difference between the genders in clothing for the Griffons than other clans (although you're not going to see men in stolas)

These are, of course, generalizations. Every clan has individuals who behave differently, and sheet takes precedence.
