Well then, hello my dear little Cockatrices! Once again, this is Porfirio writing for you. As you can see, Azara has graciously provided me her superb newsletter format, so this will be an official newsletter! Yay! We have one new player this week, Zakaria, so everyone give her a big hello and go start rping with her! She's Gustan the smith and Izzen's 'evil twin's' wife, and a sculptor herself. I think that's all, but if I missed you, send an @mail my way, please.

IC Rumors and News!

Immajeeni Terloka is hot stuff lately! Things have slowed down since the past few weeks, but residents of Sarkaran claim to have seen o less than three boys hanging about the Teraloka farm! Some Gold Dragon soldier, who they say is named Pentheus, was hanging about, as well as that griffon boy, Elikos Istariniad. They say that Elikos even gave little Imma his baby to take care of. Isn't the sweet? Erm, yes. The newest addition seems to be a young Cockatrice lad, who calls himself Jaycen. They say he even resembles Lord Porfirio in some ways. Lord Xavier's obviously not coming by anymore, but what will Imma do, without parents to arrange a marriage for her?

The whisperings of the Cockatrice gossips turned up a bit of dirt on Lord Pertinax Didoron recently. People claim to have seen him hanging around and eating a lot with none other than Lady Nalia Iberik, betrothed to Lord Tergus Teranzik! What could that mean?

The plague! The plgaue is over! Yaaay! Quarantine has been released, and everyone has been sent back home. The only casualty of the Mind Sickness, as people have come to call it, was old Lord Wirk Ista Barun. His funeral was solemn, though well-attended and respectful. They say that Lady Phaidra is still quite upset about the whole incident. Though the plague has now receded, they say that Lady Junia Ista Aldrik is still quite ill, and her duties have been fully passed onto Lady Fidelia. The reason that her illness persists is still a mystery.

A recent string of kidnapping has confused the city's guard, as many children from prominent middle class or noble families and commoners alike have gone missing. So far, they have all been recovered, found at the Temple of Kamnestra, undamaged. The motive of such a bizarre mass-kidnapping is as yet unknown.

Civil war has errupted in the Eagle Clan. After the announcement of the 'baby lottery,' where then-Clan Leader Nydiam would choose a firstborn child once every year to kill in honor of his own dead child, plus the jailing of anyone who could not or would not pay the exorbitant tax rate of 10000 stenis, prompted at least half of the clan's citizens and military forces to rebel against the Clan Leader. The rebels captured Luragadin with only light casualties, and the layalist forces prepared to blockade the city. Nearly a full-scale battle broke out between various factions of Eagle clan soldiers in the Republican 3rd division. One pilot was lost in Shamibelian territory, giving them knowledge of our internal unrest. Finally, Princess Zeysani stepped forward and declared that she had taken the medallion of clan leadership from her brother, Nydiam, and officially reversed all of his proclaimations, lowering the tax rate to 3000 stenis. The rebellion's leaders have yet to respond to the Princess, but they are expected to accept her offer of amnesty, seeing as the harsh conditions have been removed.

Lord Porfirio Derato seems to have been injured in a recent skirmish, after the Cockatrice olympic trial. The Vrelander Vorgan appeared to be laughing at the Cockatrice's efforts, and Porfirio, in good fun, challenged him to a 'best of three' event contest. Vorgan won the first event, the tug o' war, though Porfirio easily bested him in the javelin toss. For the final event, Porfirio's blade was pitted againse Vorgan's large, Vretian axe. Apparantly, when Porfirio began to win, Vorgan struck the warden a bit too hard, breaking his neck and knocking him out cold. For a moment, it was thought that the warden had died, but he gradually came back to the waking world. In a lot of pain, the warden refused help and stumbled towards th ebath houses, where he collapsed in front of Lord Inarus Iberik. Lady Nalia was summoned, while Inarus made sure that all of the men in the bath were covered, and the warden is now resting in the Temple of Unot.
