COOK

A cook is of vital importance to the economy on Firan, supplying food for everyone to eat! There are so many scrumptious recipes for cooks to try out, from the standard pregnancy favorite lamb stew to the fabulous noble favorite lobster bisque, sweets that include strawberry tarts and fruitcakes, and simple foods for the common folk, like meat stew and cheese.

An excellent resource for cooks is the Pot Luck Pantry, created by one of our long-time players that enables you to select which ingredients you have on hand and it will tell you what foods you can make.

Some cooks are also servants in noble houses.

Equipment

Cooks will require a set of cooking utensils in order to cook, and a roaring hot fire, requiring flint to start and fuel to maintain - logs or bones being the favorites, as well as other objects, such as a drying rack, a set of clay jars or wooden bowls for making things like corn meal, a bucket for making cheeses.

Attributes and Skills

The cooking skill is extremely important to cooks, as well as the necessary attention to concentrate on what they're doing. A fabulous cook will have a high cooking skill and a high level of attention, meaning they can focus on the minutia of the tasks.

Game commands

light fire

The game commands required to cook start with the making of fire. 'Light fire' and 'stoke fire with <object>' are useful commands to know when cooking.

The second command required is @products. @products Apple Cobbler will give a list of ingredients required in the room to 'make' apple cobbler. @products/skill Cooking will give you a list of all the foods you can craft as a cook on Firan. @products/search poultry will tell you all foods that can be made with poultry, if that's the ingredient you have on hand, or you want to make something to use up your poultry.

make

The third command required is make. Once you have all the necessary ingredients in the room and the fire lit, you can 'make' the food. It costs energy to make food, plus the ingredients and any heat cost.
