Overview
CORAN EMISTA
Coran Emista was born the son of the miner Jalato and the houseworker Melli, in the city of Sarkaran. Coran's first brush with the law was to herald in the rest of his career. He punched a city guard, named Barik, in apparent defense of his sister, Anitra. Coran's first marriage was to the whore turned healer, Asala, a bonduin woman. While in one of his many jail terms, Coran was approached by an Ufian priest and converted to being an Ufian. Sometime after his marriage to Asala, Coran was accused of first being a Drikist, several people hearing him cry out in Drik's name by the jailhouse. He was arrested for treason. After this, the rumors explode. Coran was supposedly visited by Drik in jail, with the evil God transporting him about the city, confirming to all that Coran was a priest of Drik.
Coran's trial, which was presided over by the Clan Council and the Ranivor, ended in his being tried for treason, convicted and sentenced to death, with a probation of five years. If during this time, he could go without being convicted of another crime; he would be allowed to live. Coran served his time in the military, and eventually divorced his Bonduin wife Asala, sometime before she was exiled from the city.
He then married the Ticanee healer Moona, then thereafter was in a state of sleep for two days, no healer able to wake him. When he awoke, he proclaimed he had been on a holy mission from Uf, having traveled to Caldera City to retrieve her sacred bird. There was indeed a white dove at his bedside when he awoke. The bird has been attributed by the priests and priestesses of Uf to indeed be a sending from the Goddess. After this, the supposed Drikist, who claimed to be a fervent Priest of Uf, became known commonly as the Mad Priest.
Coran became banished from the Palace District by order of the Ranivor. Shortly thereafter, Clan Leader Torvahl Oshta of the Ticanee, for reasons unknown, adopted Coran as his son and possible heir. This nearly caused a civil war, in which Torvahl's daughter, Lady Taria, assumed leadership of the Clan. One of Clan Leader Taria's first acts was to banish Coran from the Ticanee District. Clan Leader Bannos shortly thereafter forbade the Mad Priest to make any more public statements. Coran moved out of Anarinuell after these events.
The general consensus is that he was last seen alive during the fall festival in the year 17 A.U. His body was found buried with his heart cut out, as is the Drikist style. It is ironic that the Mad Priest was killed by the very methods that he claimed he did not embrace during his life.
