By the Time of the Heroes, Damocles was already a veteran soldier and feared swordsman of many years experience. Fired by the words of Elianos, he left the Gold Dragons for the Chimera clan and army, fighting against Griffons in the Scirlut campaign and Shamibelians whereever they presented themselves.

When too old for active service, he was brought into security, first for Elianos in the palace and later for Clan Leader Inaya. It was said that his dark blue eyes saw all, but no word what they saw ever passed his lips.

Still older and still more infirm, he accepted a position in the Guard, serving as prosecutor, trainer, and eventually regimental executive officer. The sound of the incessant tap of his cane on the cobbles was familiar to defense attorneys, new Guardsmen, and any else he thought being foolish. Only children avoided his impatience, and they delighted in his stories and he in their laughter.

No one knows what far-off battle he was seeing in his final moments, but the old man died in 37 AU, aged 71, with his boots on and his sword in his hand. Childless by a long dead wife, he left a niece, Garita, and nephew, Rasmus, and their families. Rumors of a daughter late in life never received comment.
