Overview

Mes Dianora Lidanik is the owner and proprietor of the Glassworks Tavern, the sole tavern dedicated to guards and open to commoners within the Palace District of Anarinuell. She is also known to some as a highly skilled translator, having once worked for Prince Vahlgellan and a few others particularly when the Vrelanders visited the city. During the Great Raid of 24 A.U., Dianora was captured by the Shamibelians and was held as a slave in Ellish until she was freed by rescue forces several years later. Since then she has become somewhat reclusive, spending her days quietly in her villa outside of Anarinuell's walls.

Personality & Beliefs

Dianora is a petite dark-haired woman, warm and sweet and always having a smile and pleasant word for anyone. She is cheerful and enjoys life and is often philosophical about things. However she does not tolerate injustice well, and has been known to sharply reprimand a wrongdoer on occasion. This is usually followed by forgivness as it is difficult for her to be enemies with anyone.

Life

Dianora was born in the city of Emran but her father, a restless man who suffered a perpetual yearning to see what was over the next horizon, was always moving his family from place to place as a caravan trader. Thus Dianora's early years were spent in a variety of terrains, in a variety of climates, and among all manners of folk from the no nonsense people of the Hydra Clan to the friendly traders of the Eagle Clan. This lifestyle made it easy for her to adapt to all situations, and she is at ease with most people she meets. But not too long after she became an adult she began to yearn for a place to settle down and call home, so one day she left her family and set out for Anarinuell, where her grandfather's family once lived, and it is there that she found the life she had hoped for. She became an apprentice to Mes Karison, a very skilled and well-reputed tailor in the city, and gradually caught the eye of one General Lidanos, head of Investigation in the Republic Guard. They were married just hours before the General embarked on a mission with the original Seven Heroes, and Dianora has remained unfailingly loyal to his memory. During his absence she kept herself busy with clothing commissions, diplomatic translating, and running the Glassworks Tavern. She patiently bore her imprisionment at Ellish, where she was able to utilze her skills and knowledge to her advantage. Once rescued Dianora worked to help other former slaves adapt to their new lives in Anarinuell. She continues to run the Glassworks Tavern for her husband but nowadays entrusts most of the work to her faithful Krolos and her employee, Mes Akai.

Siblings

Dianora has an older brother, Vildan, and a younger one, Jaldrius. She has not seen either since she left the family to make a life in Anarinuell. She has, however, received word now and again that both are well and have produced several children.

Marriage

Dianora first met General Lidanos when he stopped in at Mes Karison's shop one day, and the two became taken with each other. It was a sweet and gentle courtship and she couldn't help but fall in love him. It was during this time that he retired from the Guard, and as a reward the Ranivor Elianos gifted him with what was then an empty glassware shop in the Palace District. The General, as Dianora affectionately calls him, decided to turn it into a tavern for his fellow guards but shortly after it opened he was personally selected by the Ranivor to accompany the Seven Heroes on their quest. He asked Dianora to become his wife just before he left and she gladly accepted, loving him enough to want to give him the security of knowing that no matter what happened on that quest, he had a caring wife to return home too. Little did she know that the years would stretched on with no return of that little party nor any news. It is unthinkable, in Dianora's mind, to pursue a relationship with another man - she cannot bear the thought of Lidanos returning after all these years to find his wife had foresaken him or worse, disgraced his name and memory, so she remains quietly and staunchly loyal to the one man she's ever truly loved. She holds a hope deep in her heart that one day, they will be reunited.

Children

Dianora has no children, steadfastly avoiding the taint of a scandal if she were to get pregnant during her husband's absence.

Accomplishments

Very few know that Dianora was captured during the Great Raid while protecting Clan Leader Jalil. She had taken refuge in the Glassworks when the noise of a heavy body crashing to the ground caused her to dash to the door in time to see a Republic griffon skidding by, its rider unconscious on its back. Instinctively Dianora ran out to help the rider, who turned out to be none other than the leader of the Gold Dragons. But before she could drag him to safety a Shamibelian pilot landed nearby, determined to take both man and woman captive. Dianora deliberately lured the enemy away from Jalil, taunting the enemy and further captured his attention by getting in a well-aimed kick between its legs. and it worked -- forgetting completely about the unconscious pilot, the enraged Shamibelian grabbed her and hauled her off to Ellish for the next few years.

In late December 34 A.U., a call went out for volunteers for a war mission. Dianora was personally sent such a message and thus she found herself on a war galley the next night with a group of people she was unfamiliar with, save for Clan Leader Jalil and one other - an infamous ganger named Jazayeri from the Old City. The others, she later learned, were Lord Razesh, Lord Zerasmus, Lupos, Lady Nevra, and a former Vettle slave named Meeni. It was not until the ship was well underway that Lord Razesh and Clan Leader Jalil informed the group of their mission -- to sail down the coast and try to find the Shamibelian city Shamibel, and create a diversion to draw the enemy troops away from the beseiged Fort Triumph. It was during this trip that Dianora was stunned to hear of a mysterious message scrawled on a cave wall or rock not far from Shamibel, words hinting at the passage of the Seven Heroes and Lidanos at some point.

Allies

Over the years, Dianora has had many people from different walks and classes of life watch over her, ranging from the kindly Lord Tergus to the very protective former Ellish slave Ooloo. If this gentle woman has any enemies, she certainly doesn't know about it.
