Eagle Clan
From FiranMUX
Contents |
Overview
The Clan of the Eagle thinks itself the most free, tolerant, and open Clan of the Firans. Under their visionary leader Darimon (slain by an assassin, but now universally revered as a hero of the Firan people), the Clan of the Eagle enjoyed great religious and cultural diversity. Individual freedoms are very important to these people, and they are often heard theorizing about abstract principles of "liberty," "Firan rights," and "Firan perfectibility."
The Clan of the Eagle's lands are across the Ani River from Anarinuell, and have long been the core of Firan wealth. Members of the clan are avid sailors and fishermen, traders in luxury items, and enjoy what they call "the good life". Other clans, especially the Clan of the Hydra, see them as hedonistic and selfish. The Clan of the Eagle, however, considers itself enlightened. Goals of clan members include: attaining personal wealth, enjoying much free time for the pursuit of personal interests, and attaining freedom for all.
Current Leadership
The Eagle Clan is ruled by the Istaneysani Family. Her Honor Ania Istaneysani retains the title of Clan Leader despite her missing medallion.
Culture and Traditions
The Navy
A wealthy clan, the Eagles are known for trade (especially across the rivers) and an impressive navy. ~ Eagle Theme Hour
The Honoria Girls
An Eagle man is not going to take a whore home to meet his mom, but they have a more accepting attitude towards whores than most other clans. And the Honorias are a source of national pride. ~ Eagle Theme Hour
Eagle/Hydra Enmity
The Hydras and Eagles are historical adversaries. ~ Eagle Theme Hour
Zin
Though the clan enjoys great religious freedom, Zin is quite a popular patron god amongst Eagles and logically so, given their ties to the sea. It is also rumored that the hero Zarid was Zin's son, thus his blood runs in the veins of the Royal Family.
Recent History
In the year 33 A.U., war broke out with the old enemies of the Eagle clan - the Hydra clan. And it was this war that led one of the most esteemed clan leaders of the Eagles to her death. When an old enemy of the clan, the traitor Pavan, seemed to rise from the dead to lead the Hydrans to attack the Eagle city of Lurashar, Zeysani herself went to her armies to unite them and to solidify their morale and determination. Betrayed by a flag of truce and refusing to give into enemy demands, not even the threat of death crumbled her resolve and willpower. She stood proudly defiant and unyielding to the very end, the traitor Draugik taking her life.
In her will, Clan Leader Zeysani named her daughter Princess Ania Elianik as heir to the Eagle Throne. Lord Donos Ista Aldrik, then Zeysani's husband, was named as Ania's Regent. He ruled until the year of 35 A.U., when Lady Nalia Iberik returned to her clan of birth, after serving as Griffon Regent for several years, to take over the regency from Lord Donos at the behest of the Clan Council and Princess Ania. In May of 37 A.U., Clan Leader Zeysani's final wishes were granted as Princess Ania was coronated the Eagle Clan Leader at last.
The clan is currently embroiled in civil war and controversy, with claims of a missing Medallion, a sick Clan Leader Ania, a Prince Proxy, Lianos, claiming himself holder of a valid medallion and the defense of this claim and the Clan Leader by Prince Proxy Zaridos. To add even further drama, speeches by these leaders led to an uprising of the populace in favor of a democratic movement, led by a previously unknown Mes by the name of Nestra. Interesting times, indeed.
