Family feud

Before the Great War, the Aurik family held the lands between the rivers, from what is now the southern gate of Anarinuell to the Uell river. When the Shamibelian invasion started, the Auriks went off to fight against the enemies, and their lands were seized by a Shamibelian "lord". The Istariniads stayed behind and ended up captured by the Shamibelians, who put their newly acquired slaves to work on the seized Aurik farmlands. Baristano Aurik claims that while they worked on the lands, the Istariniads set up markers to steal his land. After the war, Aurik petitioned the Clan Council to get his lands back, but instead the Council divided the plots and gave half to the Istariniads... The half that fronted the river. Baristano also felt that Garis Istariniad had lusted after his wife Ringora even after they were married, which Garis strongly denied. Garis Istariniad felt he rightly earned the land he now owns, having worked it with his sweat and blood under the Shamibelian "lord", but Baristano Aurik feels the Istariniads were cowards who had stayed behind instead of helping fight the war, and is determined to get his land back, despite Garis claiming that the land belonged to the Istariniad family before the Gold Dragons came and claimed the city of Anarinuell and all surrounding lands.

When Baristano Aurik's eldest son Benesh was found dead in the fields, the investigation into it proved that he died of poison and the Aurik family immediately pointed the finger at the Istariniad family, who was also struck by tragedy when a servant of theirs, after also eating apparently poisoned pies, was blinded. The feud became even more bitter and bloody, almost causing riots between the two clans several times as both families personified the brutal history of hatred between the clans.

During this time, Norius Istariniad and Dania Aurik had managed to secretly fall in love, having to keep their feelings secret from both families. When Jalil took the Gold Dragon clan leadership, he and his brother Judanarius, leader of the Griffon Clan, made a deal with the two families: If they could manage peace between them, both families would have ten plots of land. In a show of faith, Dania and Norius were married in early April of 19 A.U. and had a son named Darius whom Clan Leader Judanarius declared would be the Governor of either Firalut after it is rebuilt, or Ellish after it is reclaimed from the Shamibelians. Still, the feud remains strong and bitter, even to the point to where the families have taken to outright acts against each other rather than the subtle attacks they'd used for so long. Both clans remain at odds, the families seeming to incite the tensions that have always remained just below the surface.

Recent events have seen the families stumble both socially and politically within their clans. The Auriks where stripped of their land and claim to nobility dashed by Clan Leader Jalil after Sett and Anikos where found guilty of High Treason. With this distance deep. Likewise for a time the Istariniad family also lost two plots of their own land due to Garis inciting a riot within the Forum between the Auriks and the Istariniads. An event that almost turned into a clan war. With each family abiding by many a ruling to prevent them from causing more trouble with each other, the fight seems to have developed into a more subtle fight. Only last winter, Istariniad banners flew from the Aurik Manor after having been erected by persons unknown, the Aurik fountain was filled with meat stew and even a few more 'scuffles' have broken out between the more hot blooded family members. Needless to say the Feud goes on with as much passion as it always has done.
