About Fara

Name: Fara Tibenya

Vocation: Slave

Age: 15

Starting Location: Tavern

Parents: Pevifa Tibenya

Traits: Downcast glower

Clan/Race: Shamibelian

Official Statement

My name was Fara Tibenya, but when I came of age, my mother gave me no land and so I became Fara Samiroon, slave of Scithvor. It makes my blood hot to see my master, and other Obalan men, questioned about the death of a Shamibelian Governor when we are surrounded by slaves. I think you should be ashamed, Ruffialo, for questioning my master this way. Everyone knows that Governor Hralib always chastised you for being too weak on Firan slaves, too soft, to explain why you did not get far in life, and that it gave you great offense. Perhaps great enough offense to kill him. But now look at you proving it true by treating my master and my brother Bivin like criminals. For shame.

Background

Shamibelian law holds that when a girl turns fourteen, she must either be given land by another Shamibelian woman, or be sold into slavery. Fara never worried about this, growing up, because her mother was rich. Pevifa has lots of land, and was married to Governor Hralib, so she was going to get even more land when Anarinuell was conquered.

No, Fara didn't end up a slave because her mother couldn't afford to gift her land. It's because her spiteful mother wouldn't gift her land. She's such a spiteful, jealous woman, that she actually let her own daughter become a slave.

Worse yet, Fara was sold to Scithvor, a man she has a grudge against. But Fara is a Shamibelian to the core. She respects the system, the culture, and the need to conquer the world in the name of Obala. She just has a few enemies that need to be taken care of along the way. While she bides her time, she works with potions and poisons.

Obala would understand.

Relationships

  • Pevifa -- Fara's mother. They have a very bad relationship, since Pevifa refused to give Fara any land.
  • Tabitha -- Fara's sister. They have a good relationship but Fara is very jealous that Tabitha is free, and has land, and yet, she is a slave.
  • Bivin -- Fara's brother, and her great hope at freedom.
  • Scithvor -- Fara's master.

Goals

  1. Fara should get her mother, Pevifa, to forgive her and give her land so that she'll be freed from slavery.
  2. Fara should serve her master, but in a zealous way that annoys him, so that he's eager to free her and be rid of her.
  3. Fara should ask Priest Tatomir to intervene on her behalf to achieve her freedom.
  4. Fara should try to get land from another woman if her own mother won't give it to her.
  5. If Fara cannot reconcile with her mother, then she should probably prove that her mother is guilty of the murder--turn about is fair play. Either that, or prove it so she can blackmail her mother into giving her land and freeing her.

Fara Round One

Round One Reveal

Hralib was actually trying to intervene on Fara's behalf, to win her freedom from Scithvor, so why on Aerval would Fara have killed him?

Fissia brought that stupid dog Spike to the Night of Obala's Pride and it attacked Fara. That's why she's scratched and bit up.

Hralib's daughter-in-law Fissia threatens slaves by telling them that if they don't obey, she'll cut off their fingers and feed them to Spike. Wasn't Hralib's body missing a finger?

The rug Hralib was found wrapped up in was an old Tibenya heirloom, but it was Pevifa that brought it with her to Anarinuell after the invasion. Fara had nothing to do with it.

Fara's brother Bivin and her step-father Hralib were actually getting along better recently because Hralib agreed to try to get Fara out of slavery. So Bivin had no reason to kill Hralib either.

Everyone knows that some of the Firan priests still cling to their sinful pantheistic faith--they're complete zealots who would have shown no compunction about murdering Hralib for his supposed offenses in converting the Firan Temples into a group of mansions for his women. It was probably one of the Firans who killed Hralib and Throgana.

Fara isn't the only one who knows about potions and poisons in Anarinuell. There's also Anorna and Inaya. And they're Firan--not to be trusted!

Round One Conceal

Fine, so Fara tried to seduce her mother's husband, Hralib. Hasn't she paid enough for it? She ended up a slave as a result. And if there's anyone she blames for that, it's her mother. Not Hralib.

The man that Scithvor killed "accidentally" back in Ellish, was Fara's father. After his death, everything went to hell, and she has become very close to her brother Bivin as a result. Fara holds it against Master Scithvor, but can't let him see it.

Fara intended to get pregnant by a full-blooded Shamibelian male, because if she gave birth to a pure-blooded son, it would strengthen her claim to freedom.

Therefore, Fara is willing to sleep with any full-blooded Shamibelian male. Any but Scithvor, if she can possibly help it, that is.

Fara is quite certain that she is one of the last people to have seen Throgana alive.

Round One Props

  • Bandaids for Fara's many bites and scratches (put them on your face and hands)
  • "medicine" bag

Fara Round Two

Round Two Reveal

Pevifa feels extremely spiteful towards Fara, and knew that Hralib was advocating on her behalf. She might have killed him for it.

Pevifa and Hralib recently had bitter arguments over Fara's enslavement, because Pevifa did not want her freed.

Fara saw Pevifa with a shovel under the Great Marble Arch on her plantation--the very spot where Hralib later turned up dead. A shamibelian woman with a shovel? That's beyond suspicious. Was she laying in wait for him? Did she knock him out, then tie him up so that it would be easier for her to kill a strong warrior like Hralib?

On the other hand, Fara wonders why her mother would kill Hralib when she could have simply invited another man to issue a challenge for her, and then chosen something that Hralib was bad at? The same goes for Nobifa. It's easy for Shamibelian women to get rid of husbands they don't like.

Hralib never approved of the fact that his son Hashi's main way of making money was renting out his slavegirls at the brothel. Hralib always thought Hashi should do more raiding and land clearing. The tension between father and son could have caused a fatal confrontation.

Fara knows that when Scithvor accidentally killed someone during a raid in Ellish, it was because he tied them up and left them out in the cold where they froze to death. Eerily similar to Hralib's end, isn't it?

Fara knows that Tatomir sent Dyanna to inspect the Temple District, without Hralib knowing about it, to see if it would be more suitable as state property than a private estate for Hralib's wife Pevifa.

Dyanna thought an excellent punishment for errant slaves was to lock them in a cold room, and let them freeze to death.

Fara knows that Hralib's missing son favored Aylina as a whore, and some say he was in love with her.

Fara doesn't believe that Hralib would have trusted anything he drank from a Firan slave like Melani, and that if he was going to take fertility potions he would only trust the ones that Fara made for him.

Aldrin told Fara that Emma is so good at her beautician work that she was close to being able to buy her freedom. Maybe she was afraid that Hralib wouldn't let her go, so she killed him.

Fara knows that Hralib took Emma's virginity--she may have resented him for that and killed him dead.

Fara knows that Empyrean returned to their tent late, and that he tracked ash in on the rugs.

Scithvor was bitterly resentful of Hralib trying to make him give up Fara, his full Shamibelian slave, and that he was overheard to say, "I'll kill him before I let him take my slaves from me."

Round Two Conceal

Fara's sister Tabitha is in love with Lainath Samiroon. This is a disgrace, because Lainath is not even a full blooded Shamibelian male. Through a freak loophole in Shamibelian law, Lainath's haffie mother was given land by the wife of his father. As a result, Lainath has rights, but he's not worthy of Tabitha.

Fara is frustrated that her sister would throw her future away, after all the advantages she got, that Fara never had, on stupid Lainath Samiroon.

Governor Hralib apparently was frustrated too. On the Night of Obala's pride, Hralib chastised Tabitha for flirting with Lainath, and demanded that she take off her slutty Firan earrings. Fara knows that it's her sister's earrings that were found on Hralib's dead body this morning, and she worries that Tabitha had something to do with it.

After all, Fara knows that when Hralib left the party last night, Tabitha and Lainath slipped off together. If Hralib had found out, bloodshed would have followed.

Fara knows the rug that Hralib was found wrapped up in was stolen from her mother Pevifa's house by Malentez during one of his raids, but she's loathe to admit it, because it makes Pevifa look more innocent. And right now, Fara needs every advantage she can get.

Fara is desperate to get pregnant with a full-blooded Shamibelian child. So desperate, in fact, that, with her brother Bivin's assistance, she concocted a plan to sleep with him "by accident" on the Night of Obala's pride. He was wearing, by pre-arrangement, a griffon mask. Fara pretended not to recognize him, and the two of them slipped away for a time.

Later, Fara seduced Hralib's son Hashi just to give herself a greater chance. If she's pregnant by another Master, Scithvor will be forced to let her go. Unfortunately, when she went off with Hashi, they were interrupted by that stupid dog Spike, which attacked Fara and bit her.

On the Night of Obala's Pride, Throgana woke Fara up in a panic. She said she needed Fara's help with Hralib, right away.

Fara took her potions, her poisons, and everything else with her.

Round Two Additional Goals

  1. Thank Bivin for helping you get pregnant last night. You'll have fantasies about men in masks for a long time now.

Fara Round Three

Round Three Reveal

Throgana told Fara that she scratched Hralib during sex, and that he began acting very oddly, so she ran for help.

When Fara and Throgana returned to the Great Library to help Hralib, they found him dead laying face first in the dying fire.

Throgana didn't want to be blamed, so Fara helped her gather up anything that looked incriminating. Together they buried the evidence in the Temple District.

Amongst the things they buried was Tatomir's sacrificial knife, still bloody, and an opened bottle of Brizo's wine.

Fara knows that Tatomir's bloody sacrificial knife was found near Hralib's body when Throgana found him dead.

Hralib had his keys with him when Throgana and Fara found him dead in the Great Library.

Fara knows that Hralib's prized Taleo-skull goblet was not found amongst his possessions. (When she went with Throgana, only to find the dead body there, and gather up anything incriminating, neither of them could find the skull cup.)

Throgana was very much alive when Fara saw her last. But nervous. Very nervous. Fara had to scold her to stop biting her nails, several times.
