The Spring Festival, although unfortunately late, was considered a success! The events held were numerous, with many entering and winning prizes -- both expectedly and unexpectedly. One of the most notable and contraversial events was the final pentathalon, hosted by Princess Eliana and won by the Freelander, Vorgan. As a prize, he chose the plot of land and both his win and his choice of prize were met with outrage and backlash as many Firans felt that in allowing the prize, we were allowing the land to be stolen. With the Fall Festival fast approaching, it remains to be seen if it will happen again. Its certain that many eyes will be watching.

Other news of note at the spring festival, although less controversial, was much sadder. Mes Inea Marcus, the wife of Antonius Marcus, passed away tragically at the festival during the birth of their latest child. Fortunately, the child was healthy and the little boy was named Antonik.

Another lighter bit of gossip floating about Anarinuell regards the speech that Lord Jaran Iberik, patriarch of the loved (and hated) Iberik family, apparently made. It seems that the elderly nobleman is in search of a wife to comfort him in his remaining time and he has asked interested women to contact him, even going to far as to have an application process! Its said he's not even requiring that the woman be a noble! It's certain that if a young woman ends up wedding him, the rumors will fly even more. Wags have already started saying that Lord Jaran is looking to have more children to replace his sons, after Sedrik's disgrace and death, and Yaffros' usual behavior, while others say he is just looking to find something pretty to sit on his lap in his dotage. Whatever the case, whomever he marries will certainly gain access to a fortune!

Word has also started filtering out from the palace that the Princess Zeysani, wife of Prince Solgarik, has given birth to their latest child! The new baby is a girl, and said to look much like her mother and be in robust health.

Finally, what has been occupying everyone's minds lately is the upcoming vote by the Clan Council to decide whether or not we will remain a unified Republic. Several people have been making speeches regarding the subject. While the majority of these speeches seem to be supporting the continued unity of the clans, there has been some dissension as well. Given the volatile nature of the subject, twenty years into the Republic, the Clan Leaders and their proxies have been seeing a higher than normal amount of petitioners, all eager to voice their opinion on the subject. It's also been noted that many members of the Council have been seen in huddles and hushed conversations. Could it be possible that the vote won't be as easy as some would think? FIRAN_TIMES
