Tensions rose in the Eagle Clan, as it exploded into a bloody civil war. Clan leader Nydiam's decrees continues to be strict, and the rebels acted quickly. The city of Luragadin was lost to the rebels, although Nydiam's loyalists managed to secure the river in a blocade. Things simmered with continued tension for a while, but then the Princess Zeysani managed to stage a coup! After all the reputed attempts by the other clan leaders to make Nydiam rescind his decrees failed, she obtained the medallion from him, proclaiming herself Clan Leader to a crowd of clansmen.
In a more troubling turn of events, she had her brother Nydiam in chains as this announcement was made. She offered amnesty to all rebels who would come forward and reveal themselves, and swear loyalty. Even more shocking, soon after tht, some men tried to break into the Royal Eagle Mansion, and were quickly arrested. Rumor has it that she has been amassing quite a collection of traitors. Things are still uneasy in the Eagle Clan, but it seems that an uneasy truce has been obtained.
The funeral for Lord Wirk Ista Barun was held, as well, in the aftermath of the plague. It was well-attended and boasted a good number of notable personages, and many kind things spoken about him.
Many in the city have also been amazed at the sight of Lord Banik Istabannos. Until recently a gold statue -- turned that way by Zutiv -- most of the populace is amazed to see him out and about and healthy! Speculation is rampant over how he was returned to life, even if he is terribly behind in current events, and rumors range from it being the doing of the priesthood to his being allied with some magical force and able to overturn the gods' powers to him never having been a statue at all, but instead sent off to some city in disgrace.
On a lighter note, it was announced recently that the wedding for Lord Sabinus Rissik or the Chimera Clan and Lady Petrina Ista Aldrik of the Bear Clan is now in the planning stages. While generally regarded as a political match, it can certainly bee seen as advantageous to the Chimera Clan, who will now have all of the children in its Royal line married into some of the most powerful families in the Realms.
With the coming of spring, as well, preparations for the upcoming Olympics have gottne underway. Already the clans are holding their try-outs, to see who will compete to best win the overall prize. The Spring Festival is also rumored to be in the works. There is much to look forward to! FIRAN_TIMES
