Weddings seem to be in season as the war season starts, with many engagements and courtships being announced, as well as several marriages taking place. Lord Leonus Teranzik and Lady Pia Didoron were wed to much revelling. As well, the engagements of Lord Erythes Ista Aldrik and Princess Inaya were announced, as was that of Lord Kristover rissik and Lady Nazeera Ovinik.
The Olympics have also come and gone to much acclaim. And in truth, there were many surprises and much competitiveness, as usual. It started off shaky, with the Cockatrice and Hydra clans taking a quick lead, while the usual favorites dragged along in the middle. But as time went on, slowly things began to sort themselves out. The Chimera Clan pulled up from third place to first, but the Eagle Clan was hot on their tail. And in the end, when all was said and done, the final outcome in points was a tie! This was a shock, and forced the officials to quickly tabulate the medal count, which named the Eagles the winners by a small margin for their medals won. The Eagles are wildly proud, especially after such a disasterous beginning of the year.
Tensions are still high with the Griffon expedition to Firalut, but many of the pioneers have returned, leaving workers to continue building the city. While there have been rumors of more trouble, the returning pinoeers seem to be in good spirits. However, the city is not yet ready for general habitation.
Word also spreads that the Ticanee's expedition to found their new city will get underway very soon. Excitement builds within their city as well, for not only are they founding a new city, they are carving out new territory, something not done since Elianos founded the Chimera Clan several decades ago.
In preparation for war, Prince General Vahlgellan sent an expedition out to deal with the Carnotti that derailed the war effort last season, as it was burrowed between the two armies. A small contingent of soldiers went to look into it, and succeeded in banishing the Carnotti from the battlefield, as well as killing many of the lesser ones, although it is said that there are some still on the loose. Warden Saltuk Cottonmouth of the Ticanee Clan was sadly killed on the expedition, and many in the city turned out to mourn his death at the funeral service held in his honor.
All of that said, though, the war effort is underway, and many soldiers shipped out to reignite the campaign to retake Ellish from the Shamibelians. The city is full of prayers and supply-making parties to support the effort. It's hoped that the season will be successful, and that advances will be made towards the eventual goal!
