As the city began to settle from the excitement of the Olympics, more serious things began to come to hand.
The Ticanee expedition left in full cohort, venturing from the city in their expedition to carve out new lands and found a city for themselves. Clan Leader Taria and her husband Lord Taleo Teranzik accompanied the group in a show of support and dedication. It's hoped that the group will be successful in their endeavors. Clan Leader Taria has left Lady Xenobia as her proxy in her absence, as the clan's only other noble. Time will tell how she does with the job entrusted to her, though.
One notable incident that happened recently was a Mes Dafne, a member of the Ticanee Clan and denizen of the Old City, was beaten rather badly by the guards when she attempted to resist arrest. As she was pregnant, she went into labor early. Both she and the baby survived, but reaction is mixed. While the Old City and her clan are up in arms, the rest of the popuce doesn't much care. She is, after all, Old City scum. And a Ticanee to boot!
The War season is the biggest item on everyone's mind, though! It is both the bloodiest and most successful war season in recent memory. The season started violently, with many of the troops being captured: Commander Agarn, Lady Phaidra Ista Barun, who was at war as a medic, Mes Kendra, Mer Hektor, and Centurion Uvilonar. Under the astute leadership of Generals Zayes and Zafir, the troops fought on, eventually advancing to the Fort itself. As they dug in, negotiations began with the Shamibelians for the prisoners. The Firans had captured many Shamibelians, including a high-ranking one. .
Success was not without a price, though. First Lord Thaddeus Ista Aldrik was killed in an accident at war, poisoned after a Shamibelian was caught in the Fort. As the troops set up camp outside the Shamibelian Fort, Lord Dursun Firgalik was sent in to negotiate. Somewhere the negotiations went awry, and the Shamis hung him outside, demanding another negotiator. Things got more ugly, and eventually the Firans torched the Fort even as the Shamibelians murdered the prisoners who were left: Mer Hektor, Lady Phaidra, Centurion Uvilonar and Lord Dursun. Both Commander Agarn and Mes Kendra had been spirited away. The Fort -- the closest encampment ever succeeded in the push towards -- -- Ellish -- was won... but at a high price. It was renamed to Fort Sacrifice, and both Commander Agarn and Kendra were returned after a final trade in negotiations.
After fortifications were made, the soldiers returned home to great fanfare and triumph, as well as proud mourning for those whose lives were lost in the way of winning.
