Firefighter
From FiranMUX
Overview
FIREFIGHTER
A relatively newer skill, there are few actual firefighter's out there. Surely it's not a vocation that will be chosen for the stenis income, but for the pure thrill of fighting the fires. As rare as it may be, though, it's an important skill to have. And a wide range of knowledge is to be had as well, for there are many different fires throughout the city that one may encounter. Skill and dedication is needed for this job and this is one job in which the more you have working with you, the better.
Equipment
- Sand
- Water
In order to fight a fire, there must be enough sand and water in the gridspace.
Attributes and Skills
ATTRIBUTES: COORDINATION
Being able to quickly move buckets of water down the line is crucial to a firefighter. He needs to be quick on his feet and not slosh water everywhere!
SKILL: FIREFIGHTING
Knowledge of means how to combat fire, and efficient organisation in fire crisis situations. Firefighters will also prepare in advance to avoid fires and will know how to get water and sand to the location of the fire.
In game terms, firefighting is used as a skill in GM-run fire scenes. The higher the skill, the greater the chance the fire will be extinguished sooner.
Game commands
'fight fire'
If there happens to be a GM'd fire, the GM will typically tell those who wish to fight it to 'fight fire' which then sets the PC up as fighting the fire. Rolls are made and damage doled out if necessary. When there are enough combined successes, the fire will die down. If there are not, the fire will grow!
Suggested Roleplay Ideas
- Patrol -- Just because there are no visible fires doesn't mean there aren't some SOMEWHERE. Be really vigilant about it -- decide that X barrel in this position is a fire hazard. It must be moved!
- Make up Fire codes -- If some mer or mes is walking just a little too close to a pile of hay, jump on it! Explain the problems that could arise if that bale of hay burst into flames. Decree that walking on the left is a safety hazard -- must stay to the right!
- No fires? No problem -- if it's IC to do so, maybe your character needs a little taste of heroism... so he starts his own fires and puts them out. Always the first on the scene, always the hero.
