Description

Somewhat barrel chested, this man has a plodding gait, and a slow deliberation about his movements. He has a large discoloration, like a permanent bruise, up and down his left leg. He also has a gap in his front teeth. Traces of grey are just starting to crop up in his hair, though his beard and mustache have been greying for some time. As he gets older, he's begun emulating his father's style, and has taken to wearing his hair to the shoulders, though tied back with a leather cord in a neat ponytail.

Overview

Early History

From "news captured firgus"

Firgus is the oldest of Throg's children and his only son. He was destined from the beginning to achieve great accomplishments that would eventually guide his life as a successful Gold Dragon. Firgus was no stranger to hard work, and since his father was off most of the time exploring with the Heroes, Firgus learned to be self-sufficient for he and his family. This hard work and dedication was known throughout the clan, and Firgus helped to set up a shop within the district which his whole family would eventually come to work in.

Firgus first married to Aurora, but their unhappy marriage ended in a divorce due to her loose behaviors. Their marriage yielded no living children and to this day the family doesn't speak about the now whore who put a stain on their name. Firgus' second marriage was much more accepted, and Yapra fit in well with the rest of the Keniwik's. It was not so long after that Firgus was awarded with nobility for his service to the Gold Dragon Clan, and his commitment to the Clan Leader, Jalil Firgalik. Yapra and Firgus would enjoy their nobility, along with their children, Rosemary, Throstan and Brena, until the war season that would alter the Keniwik family forever.

In 34 A.U. the Firans were involved in one of the most difficult war seasons to date. They were quickly losing ground and fortresses, and the outcome looked dismal, at best. Lord Firgus was captured along with a handful of others who were also claimed by the Shamibelians. Unfortunately, the rescue efforts would only bring back a few of those who found themselves stuck in the enemy's prisons, and Lord Firgus was not one of them.

After Firgus was captured, and with the previous death of Lord Atriedes, the Gold Dragon Clan leader faced the pressure of the people to dissolve the neo-noble family. A few years passed before Lady Yapra, her children, Lord Alessandro and the captured Lord Firgus would all assume their commoner titles once more.

Recent History

Firgus was found in Ellish, not only alive, but acting as governor, leading the FFI (Firan Forces of the Interior) faction in Ellish. There are rumors that he may have committed, or ordered, grave atrocities of some sort of another.

He very recently returned to the city. He was quickly renobled, but with the proviso that he must marry out of the Keniwik family within six months to keep his title. The Griffon clan promptly barred him from their district, pending an investigation about certain accusations of torturing and killing Griffons.

Personality & Beliefs

Firgus was a relatively stable young man who made the most of his life in spite of setbacks and grief. He was known as an adequate carpenter, a fun drinking partner, and a bit of a roguish gambler now and again. Since spending all those years in Ellish and then becoming the First Governor, much of that's changed. He hates anyone who isn't a Firan in a way that rivals even the most vehement bigots. Firgus is convinced that they're out to destroy the Republic and the Gold Dragon clan specifically, as far as he's concerned, they all deserve to die. He has the ability to still be a good drinking partner and a roguish gambler but he's more likely to come unhinged and start evangelizing about Zutiv. In short, he's not stable in any way. He believes in big victories, big gestures and people that do exactly what he tells them to. His formerly rebellious nature persists but it's put more to making people do what he says, rather than simply marching to his own drum. He used to be happy with just making a point in an argument but now, he'll make every effort to not only 'win' a conversation but DESTROY his opponent. At this point, everything comes down to winning or losing and he really hates to lose.

Accomplishments & Successes

Governor of Ellish

Surely, Ellish would not be in as fine a shape it's in without Firgus's strong, wise hand.

Scandals & Failures

Murder? Torture?

Luna made the following judgment at Firan time: 03:41:40 PM on Fri May 26, in the year 44 A.U.:

Until such a time as a full investigation can be made into the actions of the so-called 'Lord' Firgus Keniwik of the Gold Dragon clan and his alleged involvement in the torture and murder of Griffon citizens as a member of the group known as the 'FFI', he is hereafter barred from entry into the Griffon District in Anarinuell, and upon any Griffon Lands.

Enemies

Luna - Firgus doesn't care about kicking around the scuzzy Griffon district, but the scandal she's drawn up is sure unjust.

Srenni - Mannish Gruffle who counts him the mortal enemy of her people or something. Does everything all strident and purposeful, even battle royales.

Alexa - Ticanee general. She betrayed him. He can't always remember how, but he hates her. Besides, Ticanee in the military's a bad, bad idea.

Endeera - Old, sarcastic lady with a chip on her shoulder and serious ego issues, Firgus swears. Epitome of why Bear women suck or something.

Allies

Cortik - Good kid. Firgus'll make sure he doesn't get all soft and the like. Gives a good speech.

Zafir - Good man. Knows a woman's place. Gotta go drinking with him.

Ojitar - Re-enobled Firgus for a bit. Good Clan Leader, even if he's half Gruffle and part Ticanee, which really sucks. Why can't the Gold Dragons ever have a proper Dragon leader any which way?

Miscellany

Habits

Forgetting People's Names

Firgus is an old man who's been out of the city for a long time. It's a bit much to expect him to remember people who were like ten or five or whatever when he was captured. He sometimes has to nudge his guards even to remember the people he really hates. Who was that woman again? Blast her.

Drawing his Weapon

Firgus has strong feelings about Ticanee and foreigners and has been known to draw his weapon threateningly if in the room with them. He will also draw his weapon if challenged.

Swearing

Firgus is an old soldier who's lived a rough life. He speaks poorly and drops bits of profanity. Of course, his father wasn't much of a honey tongue either.

Being Gruff and Insulting and Stubborn

Firgus has his views and he sticks to them. If you happen to think he's a mean bigot, he will probably tell you why you are a pansy, womanish fool who's never made a hard decision in your life and etc.

Likes

People Who Do What Firgus Says

In Ellish, Firgus has serious authority. In the City, he has rather less, which is quite frustrating. Thus, it is particularly gratifying to Firgus when he tells someone "Jump," and they ask "How High?" rather than say "Why?" or some crap like that.

Women Who Know Their Place

Nothing Firgus loves better than a whore. And the Good Gold Dragon Woman.

Alcohol

Firgus likes a good drink as much as the next man. As long as it is not poisoned.

Gambling

Firgus likes a good bet, too.

Titles, Medals, and Expensive Stuff

It's important to be recognized for your awesomeness.

Artillery

Never settle for a little bang when you can have a big one.

Dislikes

Ticanee and Other Foreigners

They're bad for the Republic, they're dangerous when accepted and promoted, and it'd be best if they were all dead.

Halfies

Should all be dead.

Gruffles

They're part of the Republic and thus Firgus does not want them to die. However, they are pretty happy to make up wild stories about his evilness and he thinks they're all whiny, self-important "martyrs" and liars.

Traitors and Shami Lovers

Should all be dead.

Shamibelians

Should especially all be dead.

People Who Mutter in Back Corners

Firgus ain't much for social warfare, and it makes him mad when people make a point of speaking ill of him, rather than saying it to his face, where he can call them names and wave his sword at them if necessary. Especially if he has no idea who they are.

People who Elevate Social Graces Above Actual Merit

Yeah, you.
