Overview
Galadra's is a Cinderella story. Escaped from Ellish, her father took she and her little sister, Passonia to the city in order to start a new life. They followed Garis to the Griffon Clan, for it was his help that assisted them to safely flee their slave lives. Galadra's father, Hettle, always taught his daughters to be humble and serving to their clan. And so, their little family quickly found themselves in the service of the Corinala family, where they remained for many years.
Family Life
Siblings
Passonia is Galadra's only sibling. She was just a baby when they escaped from Ellish, and the last child her mother bore before taking her own life. Galadra is very motherly towards her sister, even if they aren't that far apart in age. She feels for her sister's struggles, and even went as far as presenting her sister with an orphan baby when her sister sustained many, sad, barren years. Galadra would do anything to see her sister happy, and hides herself away from Passonia so her sister does not have to share her grief.
Marriage
Zafir and Galadra are inseparable. They are one of Anarinuell's greatest love stories, surviving both through clan struggles, personal turmoil and political strife. Galadra is eternally dedicated to her husband and would do anything for him. Despite the criticism Zafir receives from letting his wife be too liberal, the two get along gloriously without much complaint.
Children
- Aristan: The firstborn heir to the Junik family. Aristan was named after Baristano Aurik and resembled the sun itself. Sadly, the radiant little boy perished in the Air Raids of 24 A.U.
- Lucia: Lucia is the eldest surviving Junik. She was born a Griffon with the permission of His Honor Jalil, who said that the girl children of Galadra's family could all live as Griffon citizens. Lucia is a bright little girl who could never get her nose out of the scrolls. She grew up following her father's footsteps to be a guard and continued studying anything and everything she could get her hands on. Eventually, though, Lucia had to return to the Gold Dragon clan, where she now struggles to fit in the mundane GGDW life without weapons.
- Adelina: Adelinia was a little ray of sunshine in Galadra and Zafir's life. The girl was always happy and never shed a tear. Sadly, she also perished in the Air Raids of 24 A.U.
- Cortik: Cortik is the new heir to the Junik household. He was a big relief to Galadra when he was born, since she was so pressured to have another son and secure the family's name. Cortik is what anyone would expect from a traditional Gold Dragon. He idolizes his father and practices well into the night so she can master the sword just as well as Zafir can.
- Nessonia: Nessonia is much like Adelinia in many regards. The girl is always so bubbly, like a fresh of breath air for Galadra. Even with her new handicap, Nessonia never let it get her down, and made the very best of it from the day she started to heal up. Galadra admires her spirit and youth and would do anything to protect her from the corruption that the world can often expose noble children to.
- Zafryn: Zafryn is an enigma. He's always so full of energy and so ready to pick a fight or defend himself. He has no qualms about punching other boys (or girls!) and speaks his opinions when he sees fit. He's a little touch-and-go after his head injury, and Galadra's noticed the boy's attention span is...limited.
- Galia: Galia was a very quiet baby. As she developed into a toddler, she would obsess herself over little bugs, spiders, cuts, scrapes...all sort of things that little noble girls shouldn't much bother themselves with. Galadra never understood why, and she perhaps never will, since Galia was killed in the Air Raids of 36 A.U.
- Dorian: Dorian is one of Galadra's low-key sons. He doesn't go around yelling about how awesome he is or how he could kick anyone's behind. Instead, he mucks it up with her waiting staff, flirting with whatever young woman walks on by. He's always been so flirtatious, and as he grows older, he learns more sauve ways to compliment a woman until she blushes.
- Julia: Julia was born shortly after the 36 A.U. Air Raids. She resembles her sister, Galia, in appearance, but is much different in attitude. As prissy and proper as little girls get, Julia loves to remind the servants to bow when she enters a room, or that they didn't address her by her title. She also loves to fight and hunts for her brother's weapons to play with.
- Treiden: Treiden was born and died shortly after. He was named after Zafir's good friend, Atrieides, who died not so long before the baby's birth. Galadra never quite recovered from his loss, especially because she could not bear any other children after his birthing.
- Ladrian: Ladrian was Galadra's desperate attempt to get over the death of her son, Treiden. She adopted the little boy, much to Zafir's displeasure. He understood her pain, though, and said that even if he would be a Junik, he wouldn't be noble. Instead, Ladrian would have to earn his nobility as Zafir did. Galadra is sure that the boy will, and loves him as if he were her own.
Young Adulthood/Bliss
In Galadra's younger years, she served as Lady's Maid and servant to the Corinala household. Her family lived outside on the estate's grounds in the gardens that Hettle tended to. It was rumored that Galadra might have had too much fun around the house, and Galadra, without much recourse, was taken up by Queen Sabine to serve at the palace.
She served Queen Sabine and Lady Inaya dutifully during her time there. In turn, the Queen arranged a marriage between Galadra and an up-and-coming young man, Sentry Zafir Junik. The Sentry was quickly rising in rank and respect in both the Republic and his clan, the Gold Dragons. Because of such, the Queen thought that it would be a good show of politics to unite the two. In turn, the feuding clans of the Griffons and Gold Dragons would have a valuable tie to each other.
Shortly after the betrothal, Zafir earned himself a noble title, and Galadra rose to the ranks of nobility. She vowed that from that day on, she would raise her children up well so that they would uphold the values of both clans and understand their importance in the scheme of it all.
Adulthood/First Loss
Although Galadra made it from the lower class to the upper class, her life didn't go without constant struggle. She had to work hard to show others that she belonged as a noblewoman, and effortlessly was encouraged by her husband to attend social functions and make a name for herself. Galadra did her best and quickly learned how to blend in with the social aristocracy that the noble class formed.
But, as the Junik family is known for, disaster soon would set her back. In 24 A.U., the Junik Mansion would fall victim to an Air Raid which claimed the lives of their eldest son and heir, Aristan; as well as their youngest daughter, Adelina. Galadra, now with only one surviving child, went into seclusion to mourn her loss for months on end. In this time, it was said that she destroyed the Junik gardens, toppling over statues of Lady Idra's children in a furious frenzy resulting from the loss of her children.
Eventually, Galadra came around, and with her husband's diligent care and assistance, she was able to find herself back and tending to her noble duties. She went on to having three more children: Cortik, the new heir to the family's name; Nessonia, and the second heir, Zafryn.
Around this time, the Griffon Clan's throne was being shifted around quite a bit. Zafir and Galadra tiredlessly tried to shift their family so that they could support their own clans without insulting the other. Galadra became involved with many Griffon Clan tasks, including helping with the clan health clinic, matchmaking, and becoming the Minister of Families. She also bore two more children, Galia and Dorian.
Adulthood/Second Loss
Again, though, the Junik family would face Galadra's worse nightmare. In 36 A.U., Anarinuell was under siege again. Huddled in the kitchen, the Junik family cowered for their lives as bombs fell onto their home. The first set took from Galadra her nephew, Lord Archigan Junik. After they salvaged the body from the wreckage, the Junik family moved into the ill-fated library, where Galadra previously lost her two children. There, they waited for the raids to end.
Sadly, though, fate has no mercy for the Junik's. A griffon would fall through the library roof just days following Archigan's loss. The whole Junik family became caught under the rubble. All of Galadra's surviving children were crushed and bleeding to death, along with herself. Some say that the gods must have been looking after them, because when the rubble was cleared, the crippled family mostly survived - save for one, Lady Galia.
Again, the Junik family was sent into mourning. Most of Galadra's surviving children suffered permanent effects from the crushing damage. Cortik lost an eye, Nessonia lost the use of one of her hands, Zafryn suffered a head injury, and Dorian had to relearn how to walk from a broken chest.
Somehow, though, despite Galadra's injuries, she managed to stay strong enough to bring her next child, whom she was pregnant with during the raids, into the world. Little Julia Junik was born just months after, resembling Galia almost to a 'T.' Galadra called the child a blessing from the gods, her Galia reincarnate, and hardly let the girl out of her sight.
Adulthood/Clan Strife
As the Griffon Clan's election for the medallion approached, Galadra's family became more conflicted about political decisions being made. With Lady Lucia being of age, she was shifted around between neo-noble families, after an acclaimed promise that the girl would receive her own home and last name, which she'd honor her father with. This never came to be, though, and the Junik family took it as an insult to their hard work for both clans.
During this struggle, Galadra bore one more child, Lord Trieden Junik. The child didn't make it past the first few hours of his birth though, and some note this as the final blow for Galadra. After the death of her son, she lost most of her wit from losing so many of her children, and most to horrible circumstances.
She tried her best to keep a firm grasp on her political goals, though, for she didn't want to disappoint the Queen and her hopes for Galadra and Zafir's marriage. Zafir fought hard as well, pushing for his daugher's rightful place within the Griffon Clan. When the time came to vote for who would receive the Griffon Clan's Medallion, Galadra openly and strongly voiced her opinion and support for Lord Judanus. When the vote instead went to Luna, she started to feel the effects of her opinions soon after.
Lucia became the center of attention after the death of Lord Cletus, a convicted Drikkist. She apparently killed the lord in self defense, throwing the Junik family back into the limelight. Under the advice of her family, along with her own decisions, Lucia returned to the Gold Dragon clan, choosing to leave the Griffon Clan behind after many slights to her person.
It was not soon after that Galadra followed her daughter with a judgment from Clan Leader Luna. No longer a Griffon and separated from her sister and father, Galadra took to secluding herself in her home and rarely came out to entertain anyone but her children. She effortlessly tried to secure a marriage for Lucia, now that she had the strength of the Junik name behind her, but most of them fell through, and Galadra became much too discouraged and depressed to keep up with the new politic that surged through the Republic.
Adulthood/The Aftermath
Now, Galadra remains within the Junik Mansion for most of her days. She did venture out once to the temples, which resulted in the first group of people meeting with the Nekaht. The Nekaht took well to her, and she found their home to be peaceful and pleasing. She was conflicted between wanting to stay and going back home to her husband and children. They all returned home, though, and Galadra kept herself busy for a little while acting as a diplomat between the Nekaht and the people.
Since then, she has busied herself privately with her husband and family, making a new life as a devoted Griffon in the Gold Dragon Clan.
