Game History

1995

December Adam and Stephanie make plans for a table-top RPG. The Firan Clans world is born.

1996

January
Players flood Adam & Steph's living room every week for the next 18 months to play in the table-top game.

December
We should start an online game.

1997

January
FiranMUX is born. The game suffers some mishaps, like all of dspace being deleted and having to be re-created.

February
Catherine and Paul join as developers.

March
We start holding staff meetings, roughly every 2-3 weeks.

September
Staff meetings are now held every week. Attendance is great!

October 17
Kay joins the staff as a researcher and organizer.

1998

January
Adam & Steph announce a tentative June 29 opening date.

June
Adam & Steph create the @jobs command and begin populating it with tasks that must be done before opening for Alpha testing.

July 10
FiranMUX opens for Pre-Alpha testing. Almost 200 tasks of all shapes and sizes have been completed by the staff in the last six weeks!

August 1
FiranMUX opens for Alpha testing. Players start arriving, and role-playing ensues. Development and bug fixing continues.

1999

October 16
Dream World Day! As a pre-Beta celebration, the staff turns the world upside down for a day of 'no consequences'. Chaos.

October 17
FiranMUX opens for Beta testing. Adam emails the first public advertisement (to the mush-announce list).

July 4
Carrie joins the staff as a builder.

2000

May 27
The First Annual FiranCon is hosted in Owings Mills, Maryland. It's a smashing success, and more than 40 people attend!

October 14
Work on the new web pages is begun.

2001

May 26
The Second Annual FiranCon is hosted in Owings Mills, Maryland. Once again, a wonderful time is had as over 50 Firanites from all over the US and Canada converge.

July 22
Firan moves from its old server, Epic, to the newer, faster Myth! And there was much rejoicing.
