Background
The Garkansens are one of the most distinguished families in the Chimera Clan. The patriarch of the family, Sir Vasyklo Garkansen was the first Sharanir of the Chimera Clan. Having fought beside both Elianos and Riss in the Gold Dragon-Griffon wars, Vasyklo was much favored by the Ranivor. It is said that only because Elianos did not want to create too many new noble families in the Chimera Clan was nobility not granted to the Garkansens. They serve with such distinction, however, that it would have surprised no one if nobility were ultimately granted to them, especially since it is said that Sir Vasyklo was the bastard son of a Junik and therefore, already has noble blood.
Sir Vasyklo was one of the original founders and pioneers of the Chimera Clan. Along with his brothers, Sir Vasyklo helped build many of the buildings in Emran, and then he went on to be the governing officer in Coralut before the Great War. Since that time, Sir Vasyklo has started a profitable mining and lumber business with a storefront in three different cities. His eldest son Benkaro served on the staff of the Chimera Compound in Ellish and was blinded in one eye by Sabine in one of her attempts to escape. Benkaro later died in the Great War, said to be a victim of the Shamibelians.
This family is known for their honor, their dignity, and their loyalty. They comport themselves with a brand of propriety seldom seen in non-noble families, and they take pride in their good reputation. There were many rumors running rampant that Clan Leader Akinita was considering making them the Chimera Clan's second noble family in reward for all their years of service. Some scandal touched the Garkansens with the Antonian Apostasy, however - Sir Vasyklo was implicated in the coup attempt, and though he was never charged with any crime, some are still suspicious of him. Yet his granddaughter is Dame Balinda Garkansen, raised to that post by Clan Leader Torianos Elikista, and his youngest son became Sir Alessandro Keniwik of the Gold Dragon Clan in the wake of the 42 A.U. war season. While they may not be noble, they are certainly one of the most distinguished families of the Chimera Clan.
