Giants

It is said, but only believed by a few, that in the days of antiquity, the Firans were all giants. Or, rather, they averaged about ten to eleven feet in height and this was normal. Unfortunately, they became prideful and thought to challenge the gods themselves. The gods, being rather prideful themselves and a good deal more powerful than the Firans, took it personally. The King of the Gods, Zutiv, was going to wipe them off the face of Aerval, but his son, Firanos, intervened on their behalf. Instead of killing them, Zutiv shrank them to half of their former size.
Not all of the Firans were shrunk, though. A small group of giants exists even now, followers of Uf who were allowed to keep their stature since they warned the gods of the plot of their fellows. Their location is not well known, but it is rumored that they live in an Uffian temple somewhere in the mountains near the Caldera City.
