MIGHTY IC SHENANIGANS
Zafir vs. Rikon: Requiem
So Lord Rikon IstaNydiam threw down. Deciding that Lord Proxy General Zafir Junik had slandered his wife, he called upon our hero to a duel. Zafir accepted, and said that the terms would be swords. Many flocked to the amphitheatre to watch the two combat greats battle it out, both Gold Dragons and Cockatrice, as well as many other members of the Republic. The Cockatrice citizens were particularly rowdy.
Despite this, upon realising that Lord Rikon was more adept at the spear than the sword, Zafir displayed a wealth of class and sportsmanship and declared they would instead fight with fists, to keep it fair. This was met with a roar of cheers and praise from those of all clans, save for a few 'trices who jeered him for cowardice. In the end, the match was brutal, with Rikon mastering the duel from start to finish, and Zafir finally fell after a great amount of damage.
It took a while for the crowds to clear, however, with the 'trices unwilling to leave until they had made their point. It took the urgings of Prince Captain Lianos and Clan Leader Diamia before anyone was willing to leave - perhaps too much urging, as well. One Mer Vinetti was reported to start to throw a rotten tomato at Zafir while our Clan Proxy lay injured and unconscious, until Clan Leader Ojitar made sure he didn't. Lord Junik was returned then to the Gold Dragon district with a small entourage of family and others, including Lord Rikon himself and Captain Wylma, the legendary healer.
Olympics!
The Olympics are here! And the Mighty Gold Dragon Clan is doing quite well! With a mighty cheering section filled with our lovely ladies, and the atheletic field filled with our tan and mighty men, the Clan has won A Bronze Medal in the Tug o' War behind the strong arms of Mer Treydan Aegrotik! Also a Bronze Medal in the Hammer Game behind the crushing blows of His Honor Ojitar Firgalik (the Mighty!) Additionally a THIRD Bronze Medal was captured by the swift feet of Lord Cortik Junik in the Race!
Our luck ran out as the evil Cockatrice targeted our mighty Battle Royale Team of Ojitar, Elvetus, and Tyrsun. But the Mighty Dragons finished 7th AHEAD OF THE GRUFFLES! Hoorah! The Javelin Toss went terrible, but we fielded a member, placing 8th with Tyrsun. Who is rumored to have thought they were going to be throwing swords when he entered.
But the return of Mer Treydan brought with it a GOLD MEDAL to the GOLD Dragon Clan as he crushed the arms of ALL other athletes during the Arm Wrestling Event!
Punch-A-Trice
In addition to Olympic shenanigans, the tension between the Cockadoodletrices (respectively) and the Gold Dwaggins (respectively) keeps winding higher. In fact, a brawl broke out between Treydan of our clan and Vinetti of the Cockatrice at one of the events. Needless to say, our warrior beat the 'trice down hard and put him in his place, much to the delight of our fellow Dragons.
Earlier in the week, the Cockatrices had a merry old party devoted to saying bad things about our Mighty Clan. Apparently, there was some new Dragon-bashing song regarding Lord Proxy Zafir Junik, and Lord Rikon's large spear, or something. Lady Galadra, Lord Cortik, and Lord Zafryn all went down to see what this was all about... and well, details are sketchy. But apparently a big brawl broke out and a riot formed and was subsequently dispersed. 'trices named Bashar and a boy, Ulker, seemed to be involved into the brawling.
We Got Big Balls!
Princess Katriana has been quite the socialite as of late. It's rumored that she was at a few Olympic parties, took her almost ONE year old son to see his father, Prince Argin, fight and train soldiers, and hosted a ball!
The ball was a smashing success and the theme was 'Republic Unity'. Members of all Clans came and danced the night away, until the wee morning hours. There were even Clan Leader(s) there! Prince Argin lead Princess Katriana in a romantic first dance, and the crowd swooned over the lovely couple.
Outrageous
The Republic raised a collective eyebrow when Clan Leader Luna gave a speech entitled 'Outrage', wherein she banned the Junik family from ever setting foot in the Griffon district, and announced that effigies for burning and smashing would be made of Lord Zafryn "in reminder to the world of the impermanence of fools, liars and scoundrels!" And why? Allegedly, the secondson of Zafir went out, killed a score of roosters, painted them red and cyan, and strung them up around the Sennet estate, and this was clearly a great offense to the Giffon Clan Leader.
What ensued was a small speech war between Luna and Lord Zafir, and a mixture of public reaction. It seems people are confused at Luna's actions in both her judgment and her speeching, shocked at Zafir's casual insults to Luna, and meanwhile, the GDs praise Zafryn for his work in sticking it to the Gruffles. All in all, a rather fun turn of events.
Romance, GD Style
In a bit of an odd state of affairs, Lord Captain Tyrsun has been seen out in public with Lady Laurelia, his bride-to-be. The Ista Aldrik. And they appear to have all the chemistry of... a couple of icicles. But they're behaving at least cordially, by all accounts, and the Firgalik is perfectly mum about the subject. Then again, he's mum about a lot of things, so who knows what's going on?
As one can see, the Junik house might be having some issues of late, but one of the most shocking is how quietly Lord Cortik and Lady Leene have taken the news of their betrothal. Seen walking home together from who knows where, the cousins formerly at odds have been spending a little more time together, at least. While there's no love there, there's something. Loyalty? Leene could be heard defending Cortik tirelessly when anyone dared to mention his speech.
YOUNG LOVE, also. Or so the Junik servants say. My but that young Lord Zafryn seems to be inviting that little Ticanee girl, Fallon, around to the Junik estate an awful lot! Of course, it's true they mostly seem to argue and end up storming off to the training center to make sure they REALLY get their point across, but /isn't it adorable/? And rather improper - she's a commoner savage, after all. Tsk.
Meanwhile, the servants make a point to stuff their ears with cotton when passing by Zafir and Galadra's room.
And Vesia has no sons yet.
Oh Yeah, War
There's also word starting to filter through the ranks that there's some attention being paid to Lord Captain Tyrsun's Delta Company, with the War Season approaching. Despite the fact that this incarnation of the Delta Company is hardly a month old, it's already garnered some praise from the Lord First General Donos Ista Aldrik. And if Tyrsun can impress the Bears, he's gotta be doing something right. Gold Dragon pride!
Also, Lord Cortik has transferred to First Division, Charlie Company, for the war season and is under Prince Captain Lianos and Lord Centurion Sinan. He's enjoying military life so much that he forgets that it's not just really cool and he needs to salute his superior officers. Twice. He's been eating dirt a bit, but his pushup muscles are getting quite good!
