A Sporting Match
Roaring Bears 6-0 The Crusaders
A game where the scoreline didn't really reflect the play. The Crusaders had a streak of beautiful runs, coming agonisingly close several times in the form of Lord Rodiste to the tryline, but the Roaring Bears defence slowed the ball down, and piled it away every time. Not a pretty game of tackleball by any means, but hard fought on both sides. Mer Davonos looked almost certain to score, but put a foot into touch, which was picked up by the referee and a penalty was awarded to the Roaring Bears. At the restart, after a furtive attempt to drive the ball forward, Lord Arnax delivered a beautiful kick from the half way line to the corner flag, pinning the Crusaders right back onto their own try line, but their superior ball handling and rucking skills were enough to ensure that the Bears couldn't cross the line and score a try. The Crusaders, only 3 points behind, kept probing and probing at the Bears defence, which was starting to look shaky towards the end of the match, but an unnecessary tackle and resulting penalty made it necessary to score a converted try to win. The Bears' tactical decision to slow the ball down eventually frustrated the opposition, and a number of the crowd, ending the game without a corresponding score. Man of the match was awarded to Lord Arnax for his long, spiralling kick to touch, which could not have been better placed.
Lord Zafir The Investigator Descends Upon the Iberiks
Lord Viceroy Taleo says it best:
"While Prince Lianos might brush aside the history lesson from 'lord' Trachi, the Republic is not so quick to ignore those words. The incident in question happened many years ago, and it would appear Ranivor Elianos dealt with the situation as he knew it. However, news that Lord Yaffros embellished the stenis stolen or somehow made a deal with Old City scum.. well, this warrants an investigation as this is new information.
"I appoint Lord Zafir Junik as the special investigator to this matter, in the charge that the Iberik family defrauded the Republic of fifty-million stenis. Prince Lianos mentioned something about interest, and he's good to remind us all that loans do not come without a charge. Lord Yaffros Iberik is expected to cooperate fully with the Republic's investigation. To be sure there will be testimony before the Clan Council.
"This will not be a witch-hunt over some matter already dealt with. Instead, we will rationally seek to know the facts before rendering a verdict.
A Junik Calls for Generosity
Lady Yoshi Junik has been calling out to all Gold Dragons to send her things she could have as things to be bid on at an auction she'll be holding soon. Her goal? To give more money for the helping of the poor and those families who may have lost a major bread winner during the war!
Alessandro promoted
Sir Captain Alessandro is now Sir Commander Alessandro. This promotion comes on the heels of the granting of the title Sharinar to Alessandro. He has already started ordering people around by assigning Lord Cortik to begin the search for Sernon who has gone missing.
Cheating Prince?
Sir Commander Alessandro recently came in third in a drinking contest. What's the catch? Apparently Newly Married-Into-Royalty-Air-Quotes-Prince Banian penalized the Sharinar for singing a Gold Dragon Chant! Otherwise our drinking Gold Dragon would have gotten first! Boo Banian!
Fiora learns some lessons!
Little Mes Fiora, etiquette lessoned and everything. Rumour has it she was turned down for Festival Entertainer, and it's just devastated the little mes. No doubt it was the fault of that Gruffle Lord Zeynus Sennet, as he's one of the co-coordinators of Festival Entertainment, along with newly titled Prince Banian Elianik.
Cortik's in Charge of the Meat
Lord Cortik was selected as one of the Coordinators of the Spring Festival. The Junik Heir is in charge of all Food and Drink during Festival and has been seen organizing a great many things. Mostly involved in sending Stenis and Workers to assist the cooks of the festival. Lord Marsalos is the other coordinator, but he's an Eagle so we won't talk about him in this newsletter.
Eyes Off His Daughter
Sir Commander Alessandro was seen, possibly after a drinking contest, punching Mer Albel's face in due to an alleged incident with Alessandro's daughter. You may not touch, nor may you look! Keep your eyes forward, you pagan!
Shiny Things Wanted
Mes Vesia, for some unknown reason, has made it known that she is in need of amethyst or emeralds. If you, or someone you know, has such things, you should seek her out so she might be more beautiful for her husband, Mer Umaish.
A Call For Supplies
Delegate Bukatio is asking men, and heck, women - the Clan's needs have to be met, and supplies need to be secured to keep the Mighty Gold Dragon Clan a'rollin. He'd like to know if clan members would be making themselves available for scheduled hunts and clan gatherings. Send him a message right now!
The Deepest Hurts Are the Littlest Ones
Though it was kept fairly hushed, some whispered that the healers have been to the Junik mansion again. One would assume it was Yoshi, but Lady Leene went missing for days, the items in the Republic stores going unviewed, unpurchased. While the entire economy teetered on the bring of ruin as she stopped shopping, Lady Leene stay bedridden, but her Lord husband and her sponsoree, Mes Oliana, were the only ones to attend her. She simply would not receive anyone else into her room.

Old Scandals Die Hard
Though some Gold Dragons feel that Sir Alessandro has more than earned his title, others remember that he's married to the traitorous Throgana and they do not trust this promotion at all. Her disgrace reflects upon him.
She Had a Heart of Gold Dragon
Not all the casualties of war were soldiers, and it turns out that one of the Gold Dragon "heroes" is one that the Dragons have no idea how to honor. Mes Unora of the White Dove, quite a popular harlot in her day, went to war as a camp follower to give her ministrations to any willing soldiers. She was never a very bright girl, but she was loyal. During a Shamibelian firebomb raid at Ellish, Mes Unora was badly burned and unconscious for several weeks as they tried to save her. Unfortunately, her wounds festered and the healers were unable to do anything for her. Before she died, however, she managed to tell some of those in her healing tent that she was the lover of clan leaders and the Mother of Royalty and she hoped her funeral would reflect that even if she had been a whore. She said she hoped her child would one day rule, and she'd be looking down from the stars. There is apparently a Last Will that she entrusted to a priest en route to Anarinuell, the contents of which may reveal an explosive secret. Or perhaps the poor used-up whore had delusions of grandeur before she died. The last word she spoke, in this living world, was "Jalil."
The Festival Needs You
Sentry Nisa, Mes Oliana and Dame Priestess Cyrilla are striving to make sure this year's festival food is the best ever! And they need everyone's help! If you have hard to find ingredients like apples and corn, and would like to make good stenis, please contact any of the three listed above. Help and/or donations accepted all during festival. Another big need is bones! A LOT lot lot of bones. Huge ammount. Mountain loads. And I am not kidding. So you hunters out there? Go forth and hunt! And bring us back the bones!
One big plea is for poultry! Got extra roosters taking up space? Like hunting duck? The Festival cooks really really need poultry as the market has been out forever.
Please help to make sure this is the tastiest Spring Festival ever!

Cortik's Player is Idle
In a rare break from the internet, Cortik's player will be gone most of the days from Thursday the 17th until Monday the 21st. Yay for travelling to Houston! You can mail him and send him messages and he'll probably be on to check them from time to time. Or he'll try, at least.
