Around the Walls:
Lady Gemella Istabelik passed quietly during childbirth and has plunged the Eagle and Hydra clans into mourning. Prince Zaridos declared that for a year all Eagles are to pour out drinks in Gemella's name, and Clan Leader Amenik declared an indefinite period of mourning and closed the mansion to all but close family. There is to be a viewing in the grand temple, though no formal announcement has been made of when that or the funeral is to take place.
As a direct result of Lady Gemella's passing Lady Carana Anirik made an announcement that she would employ all midwives in the city to ensure that they had the time and finances to care for their family while practicing their vocation to the best of their abilities. All midwives have been asked to contact the Lady regardless of faith or experience.
Lord Zafir made a rather impassioned speech regarding his wife and her views on slavery. Since her speech regarding the Nekaht it seems there have been calls for him to divorce her, but instead he beat her and put her actions down to her being female and not able to process the higher logics of men. He claims she will no longer be making speeches and is now taking a more womanly view of things.
It seems the giant eagles have flown off at long last. Or rather, most of the giant eagles have flown off. Only the smallest eagle remains, the one named Garissa by Lord Sharin Rissik. Rumour has it she even allowed him to sit on her back.
The Ticanee seem to be overflowing with judgements at the moment. Apparently feuding is now enough of an offence to cause a judgement but did bring the name Tagda Leafchaser to the forefront of people's minds again - it has been a while since her last bad judgement. But harsher words were spoken of Zaynee Mink who was not only removed as head of house but has been sentenced to the second for five years for lying and a multitude of other charges. Lady Melani was the one to make the judgements, her first as proxy.
Apparently the Griffons are under some pressure to elect their new Clan Leader via the will of the public, much like the Eagles did recently when making Lady Vana a proxy. The clan leadership are currently reluctant to entertain the idea, but they may yet bow to pressure, which gives the gossipmongers pause for thought. Just who might be elected?
Supposedly the Chimerans also are looking for a proxy election, though there has been no official word from Clan Leader Inaya on the subject yet.
In the first gladiator match for some time the Lioness Svenja ran into the Brick Wall Achillus and came off rather the worse for wear. The Wall retains his belt and the Lioness retains her arms despite them being the focus of Achillus' attacks.
Lord Srennik Anirik has been given a nigh on impossible task as punishment for some long forgotten crime. He is to go to the Bonduin lands and find and return with a pair of mating elephants! Mer Darius Istariniad has already pledged his support, and the result of this mission is awaited with some amusement by those who think it will fail, and baited breath for those who want it to succeed.
