Griffon Clan Status
From FiranMUX
Please note: This is an OOC page for the Griffon Clan to brainstorm on how to liven it up. Anyone can edit it if they come up with an idea! Srenni's player won't eat you. Probably. (She just might move it to the right place, because she's neurotic like that.)

Current Status
Here are the projects Griffons are currently working on. Contact them for information.
- Luna:
- We've got a Griffon Views wiki page, but it's bereft of any actual views. I recall sometime in the past there was either a @job or a @republic created for this to be completed. Research it, and if no one is working on it, call for volunteers to flesh that page out.
- Found scroll with instsructions on what is expected of Luna to become an Initiate of Uf. Check with Taleena and make sure this scroll is still applicable, and write up essays in order to enter into initiatehood.
- Work on Case For the Pilgrimage to Firalut. This page should include prospectus on what men will be required, ERP, materials, and what missions/groups will need to make the trip out.
- Judanarius will be working on the exact numbers as far as what will be entailed in cleaning up the path to the forum in Firalut, if not the entire city (which would be a mammoth undertaking -- there are buildings a-plenty there, what needs to be found out is the materials used to build them, and if we can repurpose them.
- Getting Juneva married as soon as she sets foot in Anarinuell, check in with Torianos re: this arrangement. Juneva's @job for updating isn't likely to be completed at least until after Dec. Before then, this agreement with Torianos needs to be firmed up, and anything I can do to help staff updating her should be offered.
- Find home for Onkit in the district -- This is done, pending Onkit's marriage.
- Finalize Advisory Committee applications/hirings
- Consider reorg of Ministers (due to @rostered or busy characters/players)
- Have Carnotti Tiara made from the diamonds that Ion giftes Luna with. (they came from inside a carnotti)
- Get ball rolling for Sinan/Solaria wedding arrangement. (check on status of Solaria's chargen)
- Find out who's got Garis' armor that he wore to Firalut.
- write up a @request to update 'news Firalut' to include the mission that Garis & Co. went on in order to start the re-build. I have a scroll in my logs of Garis' journal that he kept while on the Firalut Expedition. This should be added to the Wiki for posterity.
- Ellish (post Operation Make Friends)
- Meet with Marsi, Evander
- Bring supplies for and meet&greet Ellish citizens.
-
Discuss with each of the clan reps currently in Ellish a way in which they can offer some sort of positive reinforcement re: their hopes for the Griffon citizens of Ellish.
- Carana:
- Looking for children to chargen.
- Srenni:
- Ellish.
- Restructuring clanmil.
- Judanus: on the roster
- Imoen: on the roster
- Judanarius:
- Firalut (maybe Nalaran?)
- Daemio:
- Helping former slaves adjust to free life in the city
- Getting the district wall repaired, assessing district security issues
- Meet with Srenni and Luna re: Minister of War stuff and Ellish
- Get Married and Breed (Luna says so)
- Give Geesha a few more grey hairs (what are grandsons for?)
- Ooc: Talk to Hesp about his kiddos, they must be getting to chargen age
- Aziza:
- Recruitment posts -- next wave of recruitment should be focusing on militaristic characters. We've strayed a bit on the grid from that, and we should attempt to make our way back.
- Rezzana:
- Work with Marsius re: getting him keys to the Jail/Courthouse and making sure he's trained sufficiently in order to continue his duties as Minister of Law
- Marsius:
-
Get with Rezzana for keys.- Complete -
Get an organized list of skills you'll need to work on, fluctuating back and forth between combat stuff and ministerial stuff.- Have begun increasing combat and law'ish skills, will take some time/XP to raise though.
-
- Pelias
- Work on Griffon Clan Militia Griffon Assignments so that it reflects the status of the griffons we have in cages, and who is currently authorized to which griffons.
- Write up new AirForce rules (using Jaz's as a template) and get scroll to Luna for approval.
- Aristedes:
- Shaved heads -- Aristedes is trying to man up the Griffon clan by getting soldiers to shave their heads.
- Get someone to get the Lokaranis Academy doing classes for the kids!
- Genaros:
- Increase ties between Old City and Griffon clan through entrepreneurship!
- Help out with supply needs while becoming manlier in war. Maybe go to war one of these days.
Goals
- Activity. This is a big factor.
- Recruitment. Tied to activity.
- Thematic Direction
- Militaristic Society
- Self-reliance
Activity & Recruitment
This is circularly tied to activity. On one hand, we need people to be active. On the other, people won't want to join the Clan if it's not active. Additionally, those that have come off of the roster are all spread out across families, so it becomes even less likely if what they are looking for is an active family. Without recruitment, we cannot really touch the family piece -- but we can work on clan activity. Ideas for this will be mentioned below in the thematic-related sections.
Aside from activity, recruitment prospects look dim for another reason: the @roster itself. 39 of 61 people of the Griffons on the roster (63.93%) are aged 40+, 2/3 of which are 41-50. A total of eleven characters (18%) are under 25 (which is the age the channel thought was considered 'old'), four of which are OCers. That means 82% are what a great number of people consider 'too old' to take off the roster. (Stats from May 15, 2008.)
So, in addition to recruitment posts Aziza has been working on, we are looking at CGing new characters. Carana has been collecting descs of the child objects and once that is done, we'll go through and see what we need and who would fix it. Not all of them will be kids, there are some older teenagers as well. A few people have already stated they'd be willing to donate CP towards the cause.
Thematic Direction
The news file for the Griffon Clan talks about how we're a militaristic society. It desires honor, glory and self-reliance. However... some players don't feel any of this is reflected in actual play, outside of specific characters. So, here goes.
Militaristic Society
This is not played up near enough. Yes, everyone is conscripted, but that's not all there is to being militaristic. We need to run some military-oriented events.
Ideas:
- Clan Hunt
- Battle Royales Some feel this is overdone lately and it should be avoided.
- Obstacle Courses of sorts
- War games
- Remembrance Day/Event/Type/Thing - commemorates the Griffon sacrifice of creating a barrier between the Shamibelians and the rest of the Firan exodus during the Great War. The Griffons, led by Nala, made sure that nothing was left for the Shamibelians. They lit fire to everything, they salted the fields, and destroyed the crops. They stayed when others ran so that the Firan race might survive, and shed their blood to guarantee it.
And - much as Srenni's player hates to say it - there are a ridiculous number of people who are 'exceptions' to this militaristic theme. The truth is, everyone is conscripted. They wouldn't be allowed to just sit around and skip weapon training. For this reason, there's been talk about required weapon skills, much like Chimerans have for those in their clanmil, and punishment for those who skip out on their military training they should already be getting.
Self-reliance
This is a difficult thing to handle. It's no secret the clan is relatively poor when compared to others. This cannot be solved until taxed can be run and @clan trading is up again.
However, we are in a better place than we were -- we have our own Clan Leader now, instead of having regent after regent. The clan might take pride in that.
What can we do about this?
Statistics
These were taken May 15, 2008 at 3-4pm EST. They might be updated again. But keep that in mind, for now.
