Griffons Make the Worst Patients - Redbloom and Other Illnesses at the Front

Starring: Eriden, Alastor, Judanarius, Rezzana and their injured companions in the medical tent

Rezzana is drawing random shapes in the dirt with the end of her staff as she hovers near Judanarius. Being at war doesn't mean her duties to her clan are over. Of course it's easier to hover since they're both unwell, though she is far better than he and has shown no symptoms at all for the most part except an occassional wince.

Alastor moves from cot to cot, applying medicine here and there, encouraging people to drink tea, tucking in blankets or quilts. When he reaches Rezzana, he asks the woman, "How are you feeling?" *Firan*

Suphi suddenly develops a nosebleed! Suphi doubles over, hacking repeatedly from a painful cough. Inarus suddenly develops a nosebleed! Inarus doubles over, hacking repeatedly from a painful cough. Balinda suddenly develops a nosebleed! Suphi is looking not good. Inarus is looking critically messed up.

Rezzana decides to try out her still rusty linguistic skills and responds not in her native tongue but the on that the healer's clan uses. "Ain't bad. Head don't hurt much at all now. Chest feels tight but eh, nothin' to complain about." She grins then, hoping he could understand her well enough. *Ticanee*

Alastor can understand it enough, even if it doesn't really register to him that she was speaking Ticanee, and that it's not her native tongue. "What about --------- or ----- pains, any of -----" *Ticanee*

But sadly it seems Rezzana can't understand Alastor. She scratches her cheek with a dirty nail and says, "Eh...nose ain't bleeding." Did he say nose? "No coughing." She really needs to work on her Ticanee more.

Alastor switches back to Firan. He's seen that puzzled look before, so it dimly registers with him. "What about belly pains?" *Firan*

Eriden wakes up and checks to see if his nose is bleeding, or was while he was asleep. "Mornin'." *Firan*

Rezzana ohs and nods. "Bit, but ain't bad." To prove it she taps her abdomen with her staff. "Been hit harder. Feck, it's hardly anything at all." She nods towards Judanarius and then Ion, "Not like them too. They gonna be alright?" Concern draws her golden brows together over her blue eyes. *Firan*

Alastor says, "They are, yeah, everyone's going to be alright." He pours out a cup of echinacea tea, which has been kept warm over the fire, and offers it over to Rezzana. "Here, drink this, it should help with your stomach." *Firan*

Rezzana eyes the tea. "If others are more sick they oughta have this. Honestly, I'm fine. It doesn't even hurts. More like a tickle." *Firan*

Alastor, like most healers, has little tolerance for patients who refuse medicine. "We have plenty of tea, so drink up," he says. "I outrank you, so that's an order." Aha! Pulling rank. Clever trick, that. *Firan*

Eriden covers a smile, "Rez, best just drink it, yeah? Gods forbid you can't fight when it's time." Deny Rez a fight--and you might get somewhere. Maybe. *Firan*

Rezzana could squish Alastor. She could have likely squished him when both his arms worked too. That he pulled rank rankles and her lip curls in distaste and she mutters something under her breath but takes the tea and drinks it, which makes her face even more unattractive. She coughs, "Bloody hate tea." Eriden's words work like a tonic on her attitude. "Aye," she says to him with a nod. "I'm goin' into Ellish and ain't nothing gonna stop me." *Firan*

Alastor has had people glaring and scowling and back talking him for days now, so it doesn't even faze him at this point. "You'll need to drink that every few hours," he instructs her. Orders her, perhaps. "And let us know if the pain gets worse." Okay, so he's not expecting much by way of alert if that happens, so makes a mental note to keep an eye on her more closely, when she's not looking. *Firan*

Judanarius stirs and growls softly in his torpor. Waking up with stabbing pains is no fun. But as he comes to awareness he makes an honest assessment and comes to the conclusion that the pain is lessened significantly from yesterday, and that has him heartened enough to stretch and sit up and take stock of the rest of his situation. "Hello," he says quietly to anyone who might be in earshot of him and care. *Firan*

Rezzana nods as Alastor leave then pushes some tea towards Judanarius whom she is standing near. "Good. Drink more of that crap." He knows she's no big fan of tea. "Once an hour the little fella said. Hopefully I'll get out of here soon. Need to be ready for Ellish." She breathes in deeply. "I can feel it. I know it's only just over the horizon." *Firan*

Eriden waves to Judanarius. "Morning, sir." He eyes the tea that Rez and Jud are drinking now. "What sort of tea is that? Doesn't look like yarrow." *Firan*

Judanarius must be feeling a LOT better since he takes the tea but grumbles, "The addition of some whiskey would be a significant improvement in this treatment." And when he says 'some' he means 'a LOT'. He downs the tea, grimaces, and then produces a small smile for Rezzana's familiar face. "How are you feeling?" he asks her. He turns to the greeting and lifts a hand to Eriden. "It's a new tea, made according to a bit of scroll Chelona found while we were searching and clearing the fort." *Firan*

"Its some Bonduin thing, Eri," says Rez as she crouches down near Judanarius. "I'm alright, sir. I'd go now if they'd let me. Feel fine. Don't know why they're fussing over me when other folks are far worse." She nods towards Ion and Inarus to indicate who she means. "Seems daft when I've had far worse pain and gone into fights."

Rezzana mutters under her breath and sits down on the ground near Judanarius. She tiredly rubs a hand over her face and looks at the Corinala man. "You want me to see if I can get someone to find a bird to send to your wife for her quilt thing again? It helped last time." *Firan*

Judanarius shakes his head. "The pain leaves me," he says. "And I do not wish to arouse her concern." *Firan*

Rezzana nods her head. "Fair point." She rests her staff across her lap. "We'll get out of here soon enough." *Firan*

"How are you feeling? What are your symptoms?" Judanarius asks.

Rezzana snorts, "I'd say fine, but they don't like me doing that." She taps a temple with her finger, "Got a little teeny twinge here, barely noticeable and faint occasional pain in the stomach. Hardly anything at all." *Firan*

Judanarius purses his lips thoughtfully. "When was the last time you had any resurgence?" he asks. *Firan*

Rezzana scratches her cheek. "It's just been getting better. Was worse yesterday, worse still the day before. Only just had some tea about fifty minutes ago or so." *Firan*

That was what Judanarius wanted to hear, and he nods his satisfaction. "I have not had any new pain since I began taking the tea either. Except shortly after my first cup, but that might have been weaker as they were still experimenting with its proportions and process."

Rezzana shakes her head, "No, I was getting better on my own without tea. But they made me have some today anyway. But it's good you're getting better. Your health is important. Somebody has to make sure I get home if I fall in Ellish." She grins at her old friend. *Firan*

Judanarius scowls a little at the joke and then returns blandly, "Likewise." He hands the scroll he carries over to Rezzana. "Some good news from home," he says. *Firan*

Judanarius gave you papyrus scroll: To Lord Judanarius.

<Rezzana reads the scroll> papyrus scroll: To Lord Judanarius

{Firan, 90%} Lord Judanarius, I hope that all is well with you. I wished to send z word from home to bring some hope and promise of the future xm come {Firan, 100%} I have given birth to the most joyous of daughters. Little Anasoli was born this morning, October 4th. She has brown hair, brown eyes, and tan skin, so unlike the rest of us, as if from mother Soli herself. But more than that, little Anasoli is the most joyous of spirits who the midwife swears laughed when she breathed her first breath. She has the glow of health to her even for her small size. To me she is showing that the future will be a happy one. perhaps it is just the imaginations of a proud mother, but I know she is meant for something special if not the future of the clan.

{Firan, 100%} My prayers are with you, all the priests, and soldiers that victory will come soon so that all may know the joy of life and freedom. {Signature} The signature of Carana. {Date} Dated Oct 04, in the year 42 A.U.
