HEAD OF FAMILY STATUS

Being the head of a family, especially a noble family, is a position of responsibility and honor. The most important responsibility is providing for, financially, the entire family. Other responsibilities include protecting the reputation of the family name, providing guidance to ‘family members in all areas of life, ensuring that proper life ceremonies are arranged such as the ceremony of souls and wedding ceremonies, negotiating arranged marriages if necessary, managing the family lands and holdings, and representing the family in social events or arranging for someone to represent the family in their stead.

The head of the family holds the power of the purse and the family name over its members. The family head can, in the right political situations, disown its members. The family head can annul marriages of the young and very recently eloped. The family head can refuse to allow a marriage to occur and can exert a great deal of pressure to prevent a divorce.
