BASICS OF THE COMBAT 3.0 SYSTEM
Here's how the basic melee combat system works.
1. You choose someone that you want to fight. Say it's "Bob."
2. You type 'wield sword' or whatever.
3. You type 'kill Bob'.
4. The game starts you on a path of trying to kill Bob:
- a. It randomly chooses some attributes for your timers.
- b. It starts a timer for you.
- c. When that timer goes off, it gets you one more step towards
- hitting Bob with your sword (see below).
- d. Go back to 4.a.
5. At some point, you kill Bob. The game stops your timers. Or perhaps you decide to stop on your own with the 'stop fighting' command.
Here's how the game decides what you do on each timer:
- First, if you are not engaged to them, it tries to engage you.
- It will repeat engagement attempts until you are engaged.
- Then it will make attacks on them.
- If they disengage for some reason, the game will know and you will try to re-engage on your next timer.
- If they pass out, die, or go OOC, you'll automatically stop attacking them.
If you run out of energy, and a command requires energy, your attempt will fail as usual, with a message. You will have to fix your energy levels but the timers will keep trying to engage and attack and stuff.
