INVESTIGATION POLICIES

When a crime is committed on FiranMUX and the perpetrator is at large, there are certain guidelines for what can be learned in the course of an investigation; specifically, what information wizstaff will give to guards as ic knowledge resulting from their investigations. Before any rolls will be made for those guards investigating a crime, those guards who wish to have rolls made will need to submit between one and three logs to firan-investigation@yahoogroups.com proving that they are RPing the investigation ICly. Once staff has reviewed the submitted logs, rolls will be made for the investigators. The results of these rolls are generally shared only among the wizstaff. Based on the number of successes or failures, staff will then provide investigators with ic knowledge.

PLEASE NOTE: Staff will often give out information even if the result of the roll is a failure. This information will often be misleading or unclear. There is no guarantee the information learned in the course of an investigation is true. The only way to attempt to clarify information gained from staff is to continue rp and submit more logs. But again, depending on the results of the subsequent rolls, there is no guarantee that clarification will be forthcoming.

Once Roleplaying logs have been submitted, the following are a guideline on how to make an investigation request for more information:

1. Try to make the title clear and short like Investigate: <subject>. To investigate a robbery, you might add 'Investigate: Robbery' to keep it clear.

2. You are allowed up to 10 questions per request (for 1-3 logs). You should make these questions clear and specific to what you are looking for and what information you are seeking. The better questions you ask as an investigator the better information you are likely to receive.

3. You should also reference the log name in your request if at all possible to assist the staff in handling your response.
