THE ARINZI? EXAMINER
Recently, due to troubles in the Republic and certain economic factors, the value of the steni has gone done down drastically. Youi will have noticed that all of a sudden it appeared as though you were in debt. Never fear. There are solutions to this problem.
- The nobility were relatively unaffected by the devaluation because the majority of their assets are material, ie land and goods. Ask of your noble sponsor for help with a gift or a loan.
- Sell off some of your own excess goods. Do you really need three pantries, or nine chests, or seventy changes of clothing? Turn those things that otherwise would just be sitting there into hard cash.
- If you can cook, or someone in your family can, then purchase only the ingredients to a meal. It is far cheaper to buy in bulk and make a finished product; pre-prepared foods are more expensive.
- Enlist in the military. Soldiers will recieve good pay for their duties, and they will also not be charged for some of the basic services of the city.
- Offer some of the services you yourself are capable of, which you would otherwise give for free, at a modest price. In these hard times, do not be ashamed to charge your fellows for your effort.
- Join the military. Soldiers are not charged for the gate fees or for bathing, saving 1000 steni for each.
These are things that, as good Hydrans, you should /NOT/ do...
- Good Hydran men and women should not resort to theivery, extortion, or any other form of crime. Do not take from others what they have rightfully earned.
- Good Hydran women should not offer to sell themselves as whores. It is a heinous thing, and your friends will look down on you. Leave the whoring to the pagan girls, they are good at it.
- Begging, panhandling, and harassing others for money, while not illegal or immoral, is a sure way to bring embarrassment on yourself, your family, and the entire Clan. If we cannot take care of our own, what good are we?
We will get through this, fellow Hydrans. Hard work and honest attitudes, the same things that made us prosperous and powerful in Arinzi, will make us succeed here in Anarinuell.
The Fall Festival is finally over. In the two month period, many, many things happened. People won, people lost, and a strange flu-like illness swept throught the populace. This plague caused a great deal of fright to people. At times the Festival grounds in Sarkaran were quite empty of competitors and spectators. Thankfully, the problem seems to have passed on its own, and the symptoms were easily cleared up.
Lady Senika is on her way to Anarinuell. Let us all do our best to help her get used to the life of the city again. (New Senika! Help her out guys, that's a hard role being Belik's wife ;) )
Let us also welcome Father Corunos to the city. He has some great ideas to bring to the True Temple, and we should support him in every way we can.
Marriages! Symeon Rianavalu is finally marrying Quiranda Firabi (RL Saturday Nov 30, 12 PM est), and Yapra Rianavalu is marrying Captain Firgus Keniwik (RL Dec 4 8 PM est) And in six months or so, old Hugo himself will have a new young wife, Mes Zeezee.
Praises should still be to Lord Quadeem, for the right good job he has done for us of late, and to Lord Rodellos for similar reasons. And, because they are still around, diss your least favorite Tanelish, namely Jia or Udette.
Useful OOC Stuff
Check out the new aid @diceword. It is a way to prevent people from faking dicerolls.
There is now a 1000 steni fee to pass through any of the gates in the city. As well, the baths now cost 1000 steni instead of the old 10. You should play as if it has always been this way. Any complaining that you feel like should be kept OOC, preferably in discussion on the Ikonboard.
