THE ARINZI? EXAMINER
What lives we Hydran Citizens have! The past month has been full of trials and tribulations, all the worse for falling on the heels of the death and funeral of His Honor Belik.
The month began on a wonderful note, the birthday of young Lord Amenik, oldest son of Belik and Lady Senika, heir apparent to the Hydran throne. It was a good day for the lad, and he received many gifts and wishes of happiness in the years to come.
Then, not but a week later, a duel! And not of words, as is our custom. Due to some years-old grudge concerning Lord Lutrios' courtship of Lady Ibania (and the following drop of said lord in favor of Lord Arnax, or somesuch business), the gauntlet was thrown down. All involved parties decided that the whole mess was the fault of Cockatrice Clan Leader Nydiam. Ensuing was a brawl of fists, attended by countless people from across the city, noble and commoner alike. Lord Regent Rodellos was soundly beaten by Nydiam, and the matter was settled.
But as soon as the men Leaders and their entourages entered the tavern for some drinks, Lady Ibania took offense at something and a riot followed! Details are sketchy, but the Lady was convinced that some woman n the crowd was a long-lost sister of hers. The gates to the Cockatrice District were shut, and all manner of mayhem broke loose. People were trampled, people were killed, and the Lady was held overall responsible. She was fortwith put in the Palace District Jail. **Recent Update** Rumour has it that during the following trouble, the Lady escaped her confinement and is now at large and on the lam.
Just as things in the city of Anarinuell were starting to settle down, though... Lord Amenik was reported missing! It was said that he and some of his Clan guards were out overseeing the land in his hold, and he did not come back to the IstaBelik Mansion. A search detail, formed of Commander Abderus Mageeran, Centurion Vadeem Mageeran, and Centurion Hugannelli Rianavalu, accompanied by Lady Senika, crawled all ovr the city looking for the boy. As they were in the Old City, near the docks of the ferry back to Arinzi, a messenger debarked and told of old Lord Gadiste N'Gadinik and a speech that he had made in Arinzi.
The old Lord, former Proxy of the Clan, declared his son Rodellos, current Regent, a bastard and pretender, casting him out from the family and stripping his position, and that he had taken Lord Amenik to insure that the boy be raised /his/ way. And he even /ordered!/ Lady Senika to come to Arinzi to marry him! Immediately, the Hydra District was placed under Martial Law by Commander Abderus, awaiting the arrival of Lord Proxy Quadeem to make a statement. The Lord Proxy, in the absence of Rodellos, has branded Gadiste as a traitor to the throne. Reports from Arinzi detail how Lord Gadiste has amassed an army. The Hydran Military stationed in Anarinuell has mobilized and are awaiting orderd to begin the march on their capitol. Civil War has all but begun.
The Hydran Royal Family is not the only one to have lost children. Lady Gellina Ista Aldrik, on hearing of the disappearance of Amenik, rushed home to find her daughter missing. She was purported to have gone out to meet with Amenik. As well, Ista Aldrik house guards killed an alleged assassin trying to take the life of Lady Proxy Fidelia's infant child, incurring her wrath.
All eyes are turned toward Arinzi and the Rogue 'Proxy' Gadiste. Let us all hope and pray to Almighty Zutiv that this situation is resolved quickly with minimal loss of life and property.
In Other News
Congratulations to Lady Rasha and Lord Orestes Rissik! The two recently became parents for the second time, to another daughter, Lady Belica, who, as per the agreement between the Clans, will become a Hydran citizen. While the infant is in fine condition, the birth was hard on the Lady and she is extremely weakened. Send her your best wishes and hope of speedy recovery.
The Olympic Season is upon us! The Clan needs all able bodied men to try out and compete. While nobody knows how the current affairs of the city will impact the training and the events themselves, keep them in mind.
Two weddings of note: Hugannellik Rianvalu will be marrying Mes Zeezee on the 23rd of May (RL Jan 30, 8 PM EST). And just a few days later, Kasikonus Jessamyn is marrying Mes Keleena (RL Feb 1, 2 PM EST).
Just in time for the troubles, Father Piarres Rianavalu has returned to the Clan. He will need a hand in getting used to the changes in the city of late. Unfortunately, he's stuck in Arinzi with the Mad Lord. Also give welcome to Mes Dryopi. You may see her from time to time in patrolling the District. (A woman in armor? That's like a man wearing a dress!)
Praise Rodellos! In this troubled time it is best for us to show thanks to our Regent for his excellenet leaderhip. And Priase Quadeem, who took on a heavy mantle when the crises broke loose.
Diss Zeysani and Nydiam! Besides the fact that they are /twins/, they each run a Clan, and many people consider Nydiam responsible for the debacle that occured. (I speak of the duel, another reason to Diss him, he beat up our Regent!)
The OOC Rundown
Okay, Resolution Day is upon us! Scheduled for Sunday night sometime, you had better put in yout resday requests before then if you expect action on them. @request resday=<topic>
All able-bodied men are now expected to report to Abderus to suit up and prep for war. If you are not already enlisted in the Clan Military, now would be the time to do so.
Also, keep up with the new @hydra command. It's like @republic but only for our Clan. Use it, it's your friend.
Reminder: @where and @where/clan are strictly OOC knowledge. If you want to know IC where someone is, use <learn about>. You may not get the knowledge you need at first, but it's a sure way to keep you out of trouble with other players who don't wnat to be interrupted.
Again, anything of note that you feel should be put in the Newsletter should be @mailed, paged, or messaged to Hugo. I'm going to try to do this every Saturday or Sunday night, now that my stressful holidays are over. *sigh of immense relief*
