So much has happened this past week that it's hard to know where to begin. The splendid actions within our own clan have been overshadowed by the great tragedy threatening the clan of the Cockatrice and therefore we will first focus on the subject that lies on the tip of everyone's tongue: The Plight of the Cockatrice Clan.

Clan Leader Nydiam announced on Fri Mar 6, in the year 31 A.U. that his clan was dying. Due to the foul, corruptive influence of Ladies Ibania and Junia the Cockatrice is tainted by corruption in it's heart, a taint which cannot be undone without causing the destruction of the entire clan. And so Nydiam the Black asked 250,000 members of his clan to relocate to other clans.

However...

Even though His Honour had claimed that the Republic could not help the Cockatrice without causing the destruction of all other clans, the Clan Council decreed otherwise. A new charity was to be founded, the Save the Cockatrice Fund. Any stenis you send there will go towards the restoration of the clan and will help avert starvation, riots and unrest. It will also go to combating corruption. Other charities are asked to aid in this matter, while those which are ill-used will be closed so the stenis within can go to aid the Cockatrice clan, and thereby the entire Republic.

And as if that wasn't enough, it is even said that two youngsters dared to use violence in the Unity Building and were struck down by Zutiv in divine punishment.

In our own clan however, things have been very interesting and promising as well. Our future clan leader, lord Amenik Istabelik has turned 13 years and as always his birthday was celebrated by Hydrans everywhere. A parade of the clan military lead by Lord Proxy High General Katarus was held throughout the Hydra district, with citizens lining the streets, watching the warriors walk by in awe. Rumour has it that some of the young maidens watching the young heir go by in his chariot even fainted in excitement. The parade ended at the Istabelik manor where a dinner was held by Lady Senika, our heir's esteemed mother. To top it off however, was the announcement made by High Priest Javier that Lord Amenik would become an Initiate of the True Temple of Zutiv. What better gift for our young lord, and his loyal clan members? We will not only have a clan leader, but a true priest of Zutiv holding the clan medallion in a few years.

The marriage between Lord Lutrios N'Gadanik and Lady Zanna Shadina turned out to be the wedding of the year. The True Temple was overflowing with spectators, pagans and true followers, and the pair was simply overwhelmed by the large amount of presents left behind at the Wedding Maze. Lady Zanna has taken the N'Gadanik name and is a member of our clan now, and the Hydrans are waiting with baited breath for her to gain some weight on her figure. Of course, the lord regent did state in his speech that they would have a year the time before a child was born, but still... one can always hope.

Now that Lord Amenik is an initiate, Hydrans have an extra reason to go to the True Temple to pray. Not only will they have a chance to see their future clan leader at work, they will also be able to show what faithful, loyal subjects they are. The prayer log scroll is still there, and more than a few Hydrans are worried what will happen to those who haven't signed their name or put their mark there yet. High Priest Javier is a member of the Inquisition as well after all, and his young charge may remind him that all Hydrans ought to pray regularly to Zutiv.

Speaking of which.... Mes Alee Mageeran was outside working on one of her many tasks when suddenly a griffon swooped down to 'buzz' her. She shrieked and thought it was a Shami attack and screamed for help. Then the people on the griffon shouted 'Pray to Zutiv!' Alee still isn't sure she knows who was on the griffon, but the man was wearing Bear clan armor and the person riding with him was much younger and looked something like our future clan leader, though certainly he would never do such a thing to his own clan members. Mer Abderus came outside and wielded his knife to fend off the attack, then went inside to get his bow and arrow, but when he came back, they were gone.

Mer Abderus has stepped down as Minister of Trade for the Hydra clan. In his place Lord Amenik, Lord Lutrios, and High Priest Javier have been appointed as the protectors of our clan's economy.

Rumours fly through the district, no... throughout the entire city. Mes Aleria Rianivalu too seems to be picked out by the Gold Dragons as proper wife material, just like her older sisters Lady Yapra and Mes Irina. It's like the Dragons wish to steal all proper women of that infamous family. What really has set people's tongues wagging however is how the prospective groom is none other than Lord Proxy Rivaren Manosik! But surely that can't be true. Why would Lord Rivaren settle for a commoner bride? And one of an infamous family at that? Of course, Mes Aleria is the perfect Hydran woman... but as Hydran matrons are prone to point out... being barefoot and proper does not make us noble.

Did you hear? Lady Senika too has the attention of a Gold Dragon lord. Lord Yosun Manosik has been seen visiting our clan leader's widow quite often lately. Would the elderly lord have intents on stealing our heir's mother away? Or does he have his sight set on her daughter, lady Selia?

The Wizards have the following to ask from all Clan Leaders and traders: "If you have a rostered, dead or retired person on your @clan/authorized please remove them. The @mail they get is just wasting DB space and it's not hard to add or subtract people from the list. Thanks."

The end of the trading season is fast approaching and as @clan/info Hydra clearly shows, we still need to fill almost all our needs. We ask that anyone who wants and can contribute to please do so. Amenik, Lutrios, and Javier are doing our trading so can be contacted. Apart from products, we're also looking for stenis to help in trading with the other clans. The deadline is August 8 IRL, or June 30/July 1 ICly. I know we all want to help out the Cockatrice, but the Hydra clan too will be in a very bad shape if we don't get our needs filled in time.

Please remember that our prayers do have a game function in giving Zutiv power. The more people pray to him, the more power he gets... power which Zutiv can use not only to the benefit of his worshippers, but also to stay on top of his descendants. No god should be more powerful than him after all.
