The Hydran Herald
IC Gossip
Mount Doom has fallen!!! A brave group of Firan warriors has undertaken a secret mission and succeeded in bringing that horrible goat fortress down. According to reports from Anish thousands of Shamibelian Griffons were fleeing from the fortress in terror. The brave group was lead by Prince Sadin Elianik, and it's surviving members consisted of Lord Orestes Rissik, Lady Captain Zelva Shadina, Dame Latta Nesharen, Mer Norius Istariniad, Captain Keeli, Centurion Gaddineez Ashlai.
Lord Taleo Teranzik is stepping down as Viceroy and two candidates for the position have yet been named. One is Lord Proxy Yaffros Iberik of the Eagle clan, and the other is Prince Sadin Elianik of the Chimera Clan. Who will it become?
The Chimera has come back to Anarinuell. It attacked Lord Gavin Rissik and apparently asked to speak with Lady Proxy Yasha Rissik. Unfortunately it took quite some time for Zutiv's Holy Beast to understand where the lady was and several injured have fallen among both the military and civilian population of the city.
Commander Kasikonus and Captain Kalchus came to some dispute over who should run for Delegate as each felt only one member of the Clan should run in each election. In accordance with Hydra tradition, they turned to a noble, Lord Initiate Amenik, to peaceable resolve the dispute. The Lord Istabelik decided that a treasure hunt would be the best test of worth and thus the men were sent after nine items, each holding a symbolic value: From the Hydra Clan, One full barrel of olive oil for the clan stores; from the Gold Dragon clan, a sword from a soldier; from the Griffon Clan, a pair of military boots; from the Eagle Clan, a bottle of wine from an Eagle's personal reserves; from the Cockatrice Clan, an egg-laying hen and a fighting rooster; from the Chimera Clan, a bow from a
hunter; from the Ticanne clan, a loincloth from a warrior; from the Bear Clan, a pair of hairpins from a noblewoman; and from the Republic, a letter of support from a Republic Sharanir. In the end, age and determination prevailed and Commander Kasikonus prevailed. Please support his bid for delegate and harass him with requests for stories of his little adventure. (OOC: praise Kasikonus if it is IC for you to do so)
The Lady Selia seems to be a source of some controversy among the Royal children of other clans who claim that she is 'oppressed' and 'abused' simply because of the Clan of her birth, so much so that lord Marsalos made a complete spectacle of himself at the child's Pentathlon. How dare the future leaders of the other clans judge us? Do we send the Inquisition to there streets or attempt to force their woman out of their unnaturally mannish ways? Although the parties involved were soundly criticized and punished by their wiser elders and the Lady Selia comported herself with the dignity and propriety that shows her true blood, some might remain unsatisfied that the insult has been settled. As the most public detractor, the young Lord Marsalos might become a target of some scorn within the clan (OOC: diss Marsalos if it is IC for you to do so)
Did you hear? Mes Dryopi has disappeared and apparently killed herself, a direct violation of Zutiv's divine law, and she took her daughter along with her so little Kallisto would die with her. The sheer horror is enough to leave Hydra women baffled everywhere. There seems to be hope though that the Mes isn't dead yet, according to Lord Payudos and Lord Proxy Katarus who have asked everyone to look out for a woman and child matching Dryopi's and Kallisto's descriptions. (@bb/read 27/89 & 27/97).
In the meantime, Dryopi's husband Mer Vorfus is wanted as well by the clan guard. He is to be arrested on sight, as is his wife.
Lord Amenik has invited any displaced Cockatrice citizens willing to embrace the Laws of the Republic, the Hydra Clan, and the True Temple to join our clan. Ah, such a good future clan leader, already looking out for those in need without sacrificing what the Hydra clan stands for.
Rumour has it that our resident pilot, Mer Petulos Nesteroon, has finally been wed, to Mes Ramisa of the Cockatrice clan. It is said that a priest of the True Temple performed the ceremony, thereby recognizing this marriage as valid by our laws.
The oddest things this city's nobles get up to these days. Several innocent bystanders remarked how various high ranking nobles, proxies and even a clan leader were seen entering the Glassworks this month, most certainly not an
establishment where one may expect to see them. In fact, the tavern's host reputedly broke a glass when Her Honour Zeysani entered his establishment, so shocked was he. And that when Lady Proxy Fidelia, Lords Proxies Katarus and
Yaffros had already made an appearance there. Perhaps this is those leaders's quaint way of showing support to the good soldiers defending the Republic?
But those mentioned above were not the only leaders acting strange. Her Honour Taria of the Ticanee clan saw her daughter become an adult and a married woman in one day, and then subsequently threatened to behead (or worse) her new son-in-law should he dare to have his wife perform her marital duties for the first 6 months of the marriage. Good Hydra men shake their heads, see what happens when you put a woman in a position of power?
And to top it all off, His Honour Nydiam of the Cockatrice clan decided to wed Acting Queen Lucretia on the spot some days ago. Some even dare to suggest that not only did he do this while he was waiting for another couple to emerge from the Wedding Maze, but that they partook in a savage Ticanee marriage ritual as well.
And speaking of royal marriages... did you hear? Clan Leader Zeysani of the Eagle clan is now married to Lord Donos Ista Aldrik and she is expecting their first child. How wonderful, at least one royal woman still remembers a woman's first duty.
OOC News
Wizards Jesse and Angela have returned to Firan staff. Lisa has been promoted to Assistant Senior Wizard, and Jessica to Full Wizard.
The orate command will now ask you who gave permission for your speech and add an IC line to the end of your speech with this information. This means you don't have to remember to include it yourself anymore. It also gives you an option if you'd like to leave out the name of the person who gave permission for IC reasons.
Want to have a portrait of your character? Starlette's player is willing to make some, all you need to do is @mail her. Examples of her work can be found at http://mystical.no.sapo.pt/gallery.html.
No new newsletters will be posted for the next two weeks due to the vacation of the Hydran faction head.
New Hydras
Benetto Rianivalu - Benetto is at once charming and easygoing, while also being incredibly self-assured and sociable. He's something of a hit with the Messes though takes it all in stride. He is unfailingly a gentlemen, often going out of his way to 'do the right thing'. Benetto is liked by nearly all who meet and know him, and this shows in the ease with which he handles himself in social situations.
Lurasetta Emarinsari - Lurasetta is a goody-good little girl. She is secure in her knowledge that she is the best little Hydran girl ever, even though some of her siblings would disagree, namely because she's not all that nice to them. But to outsiders or to her parents, she is very careful always to present only her perfection. Lurasetta is the type of person who doesn't care about Zutiv, but is very careful to always be seen praying and giving out charity and so forth. She is pretty well-balanced, perhaps not the smartest cookie in the box, but creative, sociable, and strong-willed.
Vorfus Histaru - Vorfus is a loud-mouthed somewhat obnoxious man who, nonetheless, seems to charm women. He comes from a common Hydra family, and was apparently raised without a mother, and at times, it shows. He's an amiable
compatriot to other soldiers, and seems to often be bored of his non-wartime work. He's seldom without his ale, and he is an avid gambler, even when he doesn't have the money, which has been known to get him into debt from time to time. He seems to live without regret. He's never wrong, and finds it nearly impossible to apologize. Vorfus holds to the traditional viewpoint that twins are an abomination and an affront to the gods.
