The Hydran Herald
IC Gossip
The Chimera is gone! One of Zutiv's most beloved creatures has been split in it's three separate animals: a lonely dragon, a sad goat and a bewildered lion. All this to sacrifice itself for Lord High General Xegolus, the father of our own Lady Zanna. Zutiv is most displeased, and has apparently informed the Clan Council that if the Chimera isn't restored within one year a great evil will befall the Firan people. Fortunately the Clan Council did not hesitate to take steps and three teams of five have been formed who will go after the Chimera, trying to locate the three magnificent beasts which are now roaming Aerval. The three teams are:
Team Lion: Priestess Neesha (Leader), Lord Razesh, Mes Maddi, Mes Fannisha, Mes Saturna.
Team Goat: Lady Pia (Leader), Princess Selene, Sir Achillus, Mes Cyrilla, Mes Doyana.
Team Dragon: Lord Ojitar (Leader), Lord Payudos, Lord Donos, Sir Ixion, Mes Ursina.
But the rest of us doesn't need to sit still and be quiet while these 15 heroes perform their great tasks. Lady Proxy Yasha Rissik, beloved of the Chimera, is gathering all information that can be found about this elusive creature. Scholars, those fascinated by creatures of myth who know folklore tales. Those who have strange dreams about them, because we already received at least one clue about the whereabouts of one of the creatures from a dream. Children who wish to contribute, run errands, and learn about this mighty creature. Priests. All those who feel they have something to contribute to this most important search.
The daughters of the late Lord Pertinax Didoron, ladies Laurelia and Yvette whose mothers were members if the Ista Aldrik families, have been split up. Lady Laurelia, the 5-year-old daughter of Junia, has joined her mother's family and from now on will be known as Lady Laurelia Ista Aldrik of the Bear clan. Lady Yvette however, the 10-year-old daughter of Lady A, has been returned to the Didoron family and Cockatrice clan.
A new Republic Marriage Legislation has been created and approved by the Clan Council. It is designed to make it easier for commoners of different clans to marry one another without the need to bother a clan leader or proxy. Both parties are to fit certain requirements which are listed in the legislation text (@bb/read 14/29), one of them being that for members of the Hydra clan it is required that both parties are of the true Monotheistic faith.
Hypeius and Dryphus, the two sons of fugitives Mes Dryopi and Mer Vorfus Histaru, have been placed under the guardianship of Lord Payudos N'Gadanik and his wife Lady Hattie.
Kids' Corner
Elachi N'Gato, oldest son of Lord Proxy Katarus, has some new pets. Several large (well: 3' inch) spiders which he found at the forum earlier this week. He's spread word all around the district that he's willing to show the creatures off to any boy who like him wishes to teach his sisters a lesson when they're not obeying his commands. No word has filtered about ladies Katriana's and Kassia's reaction, but quiet Tamina Nesteroon apparently felt brave and incensed enough to put one of the tingling creature at the back of Elachi's tunic who performed a most exciting spider dance afterwards.
OOC News
Facheads may now use the herald system to spread items of news about their clan, most of which should be taken right from their newsletter. Yet another incentive to contact your local FacHead with clan updates.:)
Everyone please read the new help file Help C It RP It which is about those logs of the same name, which need to be submitted for certain @requests regarding IC investigations for example.
Rabbits have become tame- and nameable! You always wanted a bunny, either for yourself or as a gift to your daughter or sweetheart? Then go out hunting and catch your own fluffy pet. But beware... they fight back and viciously so. Just ask Lord Docci.
Shopowners, take a look at Help Shopkeepers. For 500 stenis per IC day this NPC will sell your wares when you're not online.
The long awaited day has come. Over time, eventually, rooms that are basically undeveloped will automatically replenish up to a portion of renewable resources. These of course do not include mined items.
The Dove has an NPC doorman now. It recognises familiar customers, enemies, and can even catch children and report their activities to their parents.
New Hydras
Guvekon - Guvekon, as a half-Shamibelian, has grown used to the taunting and the dislike for his race. At times, he revels in it using his hideous appearance to scare people and to leer and taunt the ladies. He's definitely not above a lewd remark here and there but in general Guvekon prefers to use as few words as possible. He holds a high-respect and loyalty for those authority figures which he likes; though, the list is not that long. If Guvekon considers someone a friend, then, he will be utterly defensive and protective of them to the point that he makes those around him believe that he might just do something rash any moment. He finds comfort in these few people and animals and hunting, though not joy, he rarely smiles even when he is forced into talking about his favorite things. His mind is not an overly complex place, which doesn't make Guvekon stupid, he just tends to simplify things. So much so, that often he handles situations purely on instinct and doesn't see the need to reason every little detail out.
Omnesti Rianivalu - Omnesti is far from the model Hydran woman. She's blunt, simple though certainly not stupid, and she has far more pride than what's considered healthy. She's curious about everything, and is always trying to find out tidbits here and there. While she retains the energy and spirit from her childhood, she's also developed a more serious, almost melancholy side and sometimes takes to restless brooding. It seems she isn't happy unless she's doing something that can fully absorb her attention so she's usually involved in some sort of project or putting her energy into problems many others would see as lost causes. When she holds conversations, it's like a bit of disjointed talk because she flits back and forth between topics and sometimes talks so fast that people have trouble understanding her conversations or line of thought. As she's grown older she's shown the need to focus her passion into more concrete actions and rather than showing interest in suitable activities for a Hydran woman, she remains unshakibly determined to become a warrior.
Letitia Rianivalu - In any other clan, Letitia might have been known as a good and delightful child. In the clan of the Hydra, however, she is known for her willful disobedience and unladylike exuberance. She doesn't go to temple enough, she laughs too loud, she is to avaricious. She's known as being hard to control, and her family has had to take her behind the woodshed for discipline on more than one occasion. Her grandparents fear that she'll come to no good, and given her beauty, most of the young men in the city hope the same. But some say that Letitia is a bright and beautiful young woman who is really going to become something if only she could marry and get out from under her clan's thumb.
Darus - Darus is relatively mild mannered and hard to irritate, as well as being fairly kind hearted for what he's been through in his life. Most people would say he's almost numbed to life, and he's not showy with his emotions.

Praises & Disses
Praises:
- Amenik, Lutrios, and Javier for seeing to it that all our clan's needs were filed last season, preventing riots and starvation across the clan.
Disses:
- Starlette, and Bukatio yet another uppity Gold Dragon woman who looks to be heading to the Dove. And her head of house seems unable to control her and prevent it. Hydrans do not approve of such behaviour in women, or such weakness in men.
As always, remember to use your praises and disses based on your IC feelings and judgement.
Command of the Week
@record/search <term> - Interested in finding out whether your character has had legal problems before you took him or her? Do you wish to reread something on @bb/read 14, only the post has timed-out? Have no fear for the Unity Building is near. Located right next to the Bank, this building has a scribe in the main hall which will help you look through all legal files in Firan's online history. The searches can be as broad as one term, or as narrow as you'd like for the command gives you the opportunity to look for as many terms together as you'd like.
That's it for this week, the next newsletter will be posted on Thursday August 19. As always, I'm looking for updates from Hydran players so please, @mail me with what you'd like to see in the newsletter (or heralds). I'm specifically looking for something to be placed in the new 'Kids's Corner' section which is meant to have information important for the clan's kidlets, be it PCs or child's objects.
