IC Gossip

War Season is approaching! This upcoming Saturay August 21 & Sunday August 22 the republic's bravest men and women will be marching off to Ellish to try and reclaim the lost Firan city and surrounding territory from the evil Shamibelians. Sir General Vasyklo has asked that any clan guard willing to take part in this great crusade contact him and Lady Captain Zelva to sign up for seasonal enlistment. Remember, Ellish is only a few days away from Anarinuell, and mere hours on Griffon back, as we experienced only too recently during the recent Shamibelian raids on our city, during which our own Mes Serra Zuriaki was kidnapped by those foul creatures, taken from her husband and children to Zutiv knows what kind of horrors. Among those brave Hydran men who wish to protect their family from such fate are Commander Kasikonus Jessamyn, and Mer Guvekon. Others who wish to sign up can still do so, but they had better do so right away.

Our future clan leader, Lord Amenik, has assumed yet another of his great father's Belik's responsibilities. He has been named the head of the Istabelik family, taking that unwomanly burden from his mother's shoulders. Beyond that, he has also offered to be the contact person for all Hydrans in the absence of the lord regent and our clan proxies.

Lord Dedalion Shadina, son-in-law of Clan Leaders Jalil and Taria, has been kidnapped by an unknown party. They demand 50 million stenis in gold for his return, which is to be loaded into a raft and set afloat. If anyone dares to follow the raft, Lord Dedalion's hand will be sent to his family. His wife, lady Lilana, has pleaded with the kidnappers to come up with another way to send the money due to the uncertainty of the gold reaching it's destination in this manner.

Hugannelli's Carpentry Shop is now open at all times and Mes Dantana and Mer Darus are selling only the highest quality items. Platinum jewelry as gifts for noble friends and sponsors, well-ornamented gold and silver jewelry for non-nobles, custom-made carpentry items and the best quality perfumes complete with matching glass bottles. The shop can be found in the Palace District, just one block north off the forum.

Mer Darus, Hydra clan guard and skilled carpenter, has apparently been hired by Mes Dantana to not only help her out with her husband's shop, but also to teach her young son the basics of this useful craft. What a good Hydra man.

Looking for a job with the Istabelik family? Lady Senika Istabelik is looking for a lady's maid both for herself, and for her daughter, Lady Selia, who will turn 12 next month. Time to start preparations for her Ceremony of Souls, some whisper. Anyone interested in such esteemed positions is asked to contact Mes Aleria Rianivalu.

Yes, Mes Aleria Rianivalu is indeed back at the Istabelik mansion. Rumour has it that she is treated very well and has even been assigned guards to keep her safe. Or to prevent her from running off to the Gold Dragon district again?

Are you one of our brave soldiers going off to war and don't mind secretly giving in to sinful temptations away from the marriage bed? Then you should perhaps sneak off for a visit to the Dove, for all Ellish-going soldiers are promised a free visit with a Dove girl.

Kids' Corner

Lord Proxy Katarus N'Gato has taken steps to prevent his son Elachi from teaching the clan's other boys how to torment their sisters with spiders. Instead, after getting rid of the creepy crawlers he took his sons out hunting for bunnies as gifts for their lady sisters. How long will it be before every little girl in the clan wishes to have such a soft and furry pet?

New Hydras

Themissa Jaldrish - Themissa is a timid almost mousy girl, but then, most Hydran women are. She almost startles at her own shadow. Oddly, she's not shy. She likes to talk to people, and make new friends, but she does it in a quiet and unassuming way. She's known as a competent servant, and the quintessentially proper Hydran girl -- obedient, docile, and not too smart. Still, there are those who say that this is not quite the entire picture.

Letitia Rianivalu - In any other clan, Letitia might have been known as a good and delightful child. In the clan of the Hydra, however, she is known for her willful disobedience and unladylike exuberance. She doesn't go to temple enough, she laughs too loud, she is to avaricious. She's known as being hard to control, and her family has had to take her behind the woodshed for discipline on more than one occasion. Her grandparents fear that she'll come to no good, and given her beauty, most of the young men in the city hope the same. But some say that Letitia is a bright and beautiful young woman who could really become something, even if she married a man of her own clan.
